License tagging for File:Mamish.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mamish.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:05, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Mohamed Hegazy. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Egyptian Communist Party.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Hi. In Egyptian Navy ranks, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Private (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Regarding Egyptian military insignia

[edit]

Hello, I am the creator of the Scalable Vector Graphics of the military insignia that used to be on those Wikipedia articles, Egyptian Army ranks and Egyptian Navy ranks.

As it is the case that I have spent a lot of time trying to replicate them, I need the rationale for removing free SVG diagrams to the less quality, copyright protected diagrams in place now. If there are inaccuracies, I might be able to modify the files.

This is not just about my effort or work. But with SVG files have a great advantage, you can size them to whichever size suits your application. For example File:EgyptianNavyInsignia-Admiral-shoulderboard.svg, you can get it as a 200 pixel image, 500 pixel image, 1000 pixel image, 2000 pixel image, etc, without affecting the quality of the image.

Please let me know if there was anything wrong with the diagrams previously in place. A. Alaily (talk) 17:47, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reactions sections

[edit]

Hello,

I was considering deleting the sections from the Egyptian war on terror article "Public reactions" Israeli reactions" and "Palestinian reactions" because they describe the attack as opposed to the campaign waged by Egypt against terrorism. These reactions are also described in the article 2012 Egyptian–Israeli border attack.

In return, as I said earlier, I will work throughout the next few days to expand the article with more information and update it. Either way I would do this.

I wanted to know whether you would agree to this edit or not.

Thanks. --Activism1234 04:40, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Rear Admiral Osama El Gendy.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Rear Admiral Osama El Gendy.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 09:35, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Colonel General

[edit]

I appreciate your input, but let me inform you of several facts:

  • The Egyptian Armed Forces website is weak in its contents, false in some others and I might say whoever is placing the info is ignorant.
  • The Uniform and Rank website is getting its infor from the above-mentioned and from general information of ranks.
  • The Farriq Awal is truely equivelatant to the 4 stars General, but it has been always the tradition and customs of the Egyptian Army to name this rank as Colonel General since the demise of the Turko-Egyptian rank of Sirdar. This is a well established fact.
  • Other than the fact that I served in the Egyptian Army in the early 90's and was stationed in the Military Police Headquarters, in the Organization and Management Department, where I was delegated many times where there were High ranking military visitors in the Command and Control Center at the MP HQ, where I did translations for the officers, being trilingual and the rank of Colonel general was used and was documented in several documents and Board legends.
  • The use of General is a generic use for those who don't know better, and unfortunately those who are in charge of the info material on the offical Egyptian armed Forces site are lacking a lot, to say the least the proper spelling of weapons and fighters etc. Orthopraxia (talk) 18:53, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ahmed Gamal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article Mohamed Abdel Fattah has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Contests

[edit]

User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:40, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

The article Gehaz El Reyada Stadium has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced. No reliable sources found to show notability in a before search

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Gehaz El Reyada Stadium (version 2) listed at Redirects for discussion

[edit]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Gehaz El Reyada Stadium (version 2). Since you had some involvement with the Gehaz El Reyada Stadium (version 2) redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you wish to do so.
