Welcome!

Hello, Zfeinst, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

Good job at being bold!!!!! We always need people to step up and edit pages that they know intimately, your graduate experience will be invaluable to the project. If you need any help feel free to contact me on my talk page!Sadads (talk) 11:35, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to see that you are still being active. If you are interested, we have started a program to do outreach at universities in the United States, and you look like a good candidate for participating when we do another training in the fall. Check out WP:Ambassadors and WP:Campus Ambassadors and if you are interested sign up on the interest list, Sadads (talk) 19:12, 5 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

I noticed on a lot of you web references, you aren't keeping all of the information necessary in case someone wants to retrieve the page in the future and the URL is down. Try using Template:Cite web and try to fill in as many variables as possible, that way future editors won't have to go searching. Sadads (talk) 19:38, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and if they are journal articles or published articles use Template:Cite journal, Sadads (talk) 19:39, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Spectral risk measure

[edit]

You said...

I noticed you put the notability tag on spectral risk measure. I have decided over the next few days to try to improve that page to the best of my ability (since I am currently working on my PhD with research on risk measures). I was wondering if you can remember what about that topic made you think it was non-notable. Thank you. Zfeinst (talk) 04:57, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The principal concerns here are: (i) broadly that it does not presently meet the requirements of WP:LEAD in providing enough context for a general reader (not familiar with any of the broad context of the topic) to understand what the topic of the article is about ... you should try to say something about what it is used for and in what specific fields, and why it is important (there should be something about these things in the lead section, expanding in later sections if necessary); (ii) that it lacked references related to actually using this theory, or even to anyone else than the original authors working with the theory ...the reference recently added seems unpublished and it would be good to be able to improve on this. In general you should follow-up and read the links presented in the notability template box to give an idea of things to be thought about. Basically, remember that Wikipedia is for a general readership and should not be treatesd in exactly the same way as a journal article (where it is nowadays common to assume a pre-existing close understanding of the topic of an article). You might like to see WP:MSM for guidance on mathematics-type articles on Wikipedia (particularly the stuff about structuring an article, near the start). Lots of existing articles don't come particularly close to fulfilling all the stated requirements, so don't worry too much about them in detail .... just make a few improvements for the points raised above and you can remove the template, then improve the article further or leave it for others to make additions. Melcombe (talk) 09:17, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re

[edit]

I'm assuming from what you posted that the article was deleted for being a mere dictionary definition. No problem with recreating it as a real article. Rebecca (talk) 01:37, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Zfeinst, I have reverted your reversion of my edit. I have started a thread on the talk page so we can discuss the matter. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia is only a summary of reliable sources. Unfortunately our own personal knowledge does not count on Wikipedia. Welcome to Wikipedia! I look forward to working together to improve the article. Cheers! --KeithbobTalk 18:57, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Model Risk

[edit]

DOI values that look like 10.1.1.139.2327, are not actually DOI's. Use |id={{citeseerx|10.1.1.139.2327 }} in the cite journal tempates instead of doi=10.1.1.139.2327 . AManWithNoPlan (talk) 02:35, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sortino Ratio

[edit]

please leave Sortino Ratio alone! The risk- free rate is about the worst example of a target return you could have come up with! Think about it: why would a rational investor choose a target equal or less than the return he could get with zero risk?! World Factoring Yearbook

I'm leaving this message as you're listed as a current participant of WikiProject Business. I was informed yesterday that the current World Factoring Yearbook (circa £150) is now free for download as an ebook. It's a matter of filling out this form. I'm not sure if you'll find this useful as a reliable source, but I thought I should let you know that it's freely available online. I apologise in advance if this doesn't interest you! Post-modern portfolio theory

[edit]

I am glad to see there is discussion going on regarding the work my colleague Hal Forsey and I worked on for the past 34years. I do not understand why the 1981 contract between Rom and The Pension Research Institute that specifically prevents Rom from making any quantitative changes in the software is of no interest. I would happily send the documents in a pdf file to prove Rom's claims are unjustified. Dr. Frank A. Sortino, Director — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:647:4D00:CC7C:60CE:B4AF:61C0:45F0 (talk) 15:42, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Copied from talk:Post-modern portfolio theory (left here as well in case Dr. Sortino is not checking that talk page, but is checking this one): I think that such a contract is relevant if it can show that the idea for post-modern portfolio theory (and the Sortino ratio) came from Dr. Sortino and PRI rather than Brian Rom and Investment Technologies. My main issue with the text as it was written (and copied in the prior message in this talk page) is the tone that it takes. Rather than being written as an encyclopedic article, the two paragraphs are written as a quasi-attack on Mr. Rom. Does anyone else have comments on this? Anyone know how to read through a contract to see if it can show who originated a specific idea? That is not my area of expertise. Zfeinst (talk) 02:46, 6 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. [edit]

Hey there! I just re-launched the WikiProject Investment.

The site has been fully revamped and updated and I would like to invite you the project.

Feel free to check out the project and ping me if you have any questions.

I'd like to invite you to join the Investment WikiProject. There are a lot of Investment related articles on Wikipedia that could use a little attention, and I hope this project can help organize an effort to improve them. So please, take a look and if you like what you see, help get this project off the ground and a few Investment pages into the front ranks of Wikipedia articles. Thanks!

Help with article?

[edit]

Hi there,

I noticed you're a member of the Wikipedia Finance and Investment project. I've written a new article and I wonder if you'd be willing to help out by reviewing it - Draft: Fifth Wall Ventures and making it live if you think it's ready? It's about a VC-firm focused on real estate.

Although I am an experienced Wikipedia editor and always try my best to abide by the five pillars, in this case I have a conflict of interest, so Wikipedia policy requires that all my work be reviewed by an independent editor before it's published. (Moved from "Draft" to "Wikipedia" under the "More" tab in the nav.) I'd be glad to do any additional work you think the article requires.

Thanks for considering this!
