Speedy deletion tags

Hello. Please use speedy deletion tags with care. You just cannot tag something like this version of Blagoje Jovović. The request for deletion is going to get turned down of course but it's very annoying for the article's creator. (see his frustration here) Pascal.Tesson (talk) 04:09, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Where's the notability? There are no sources at all; it could be completely made up. It looks like a play on Blagojevich to me, but if you think it's real, that's fine. -Zeus- 04:14, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
I looked into it some more, and it might be true; FYI, the entire Post-war section is copied from this article: Ante Pavelić-Zeus- 04:14, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi - just to say I regret my edit summary here; I misunderstood the rules on speedy deletion of redirects, and should have been less perfunctory. Redirects can be candidates for speedy deletion. It also looks to me now like article titles with all initial caps are automatically called if a user searches with a wrongly capitalized term, so I guess we don't need this redirect after all. I'll say as much over at RfD. Apologies for this. Gonzonoir (talk) 21:53, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

That's no problem.  ;) I appreciate it. -Zeus- 21:53, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Cheers! Since the redirect hadn't actually been listed yet at WP:RfD, I just restored a speedy delete tag to Leonard stanley. Cripes. Hope that's all right now :) Gonzonoir (talk) 21:57, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Holt's Wharf

OK, I put the reason why I want to reserve the article of Holt's Wharf in Talk:Holt's Wharf. Thanks! Ricky@36 (talk) 04:44, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Hockey goal

Just a friendly note on Hockey goal. I declined the speedy because there was plenty of context -- anyone could tell the article was about a goal in the sport of hockey. However, I changed to a redirect to the existing article, Goal (ice hockey).--Fabrictramp | talk to me 23:52, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Not mine, bro.  :)

I've deleted that dog leash thing about three times now. Looks as if the system attributed that nonsense to me...! Not the first time. Oh, well.  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:46, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Oh, sorry, I accidently clicked on the wrong edit's talk page. I removed the template ;) -Zeus- (t|c) 02:48, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Oh, see you already got it. -Zeus- (t|c) 02:49, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

No problem, fellow vandal-slayer. Enjoy a cookie.  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:59, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Re:Speedy deletion of Augustus, Count Palatine of Sulzbach

Just a second. How is moving content from one non-copyrighted Wiki to another "blatant copyright infringement"?

Adam_sk (talk) 02:45, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

I took a look at the Wikia terms of use and it looked like it was not allowed. If you want to take a look, I would be happy to have you look, as I'm not sure. -Zeus- (t|c) 02:46, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Under what provision would it not be allowed? They claim a trademark for "Wikia" and "Wikicities", but that's the only thing I can see that they claim as copyrighted. And according to Wikia, Wikia's content is all governed by the GNU Free Documentation License, just like the content on Wikipedia. Adam_sk (talk) 02:59, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, my mistake -Zeus- (t|c) 03:00, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello, WP:CSD G4 does not apply with articles previously deleted under CSD. Only AFD. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 15:16, 7 February 2009 (UTC)]

OK, thanks, I listed it at AfD. -Zeus- [t|c] 15:19, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
I was not clear. It is not speediable under G4. Only content that have been deleted as the result of a deletion discussion can be deleted under WP:CSD G4. This can still be speedied under WP:CSD#A1, WP:CSD#A3, or WP:CSD#A7. Cheers, and happy editing. Dlohcierekim 15:26, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
OK, thanks. That's what someone said at AfD, so I put a different template up. -Zeus- [t|c] 15:27, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

A recent AFD

When you submitted this AFD, did you perchance notice the edit summary I used when I created the article?--Rockfang (talk) 17:30, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

No I didn't, sorry. -Zeus- [t|c] 17:31, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
I removed the deletion. -Zeus- [t|c] 17:31, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
For sake of clarity and per procedure, I've closed your AFD as "Withdrawn by nom" --Patar knight - chat/contributions 17:37, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
This is just a suggestion, but if an article is newly created, and has {{Inuse}} on it, you may want to wait a bit until nominating it. The end result of the article could (in some cases) be dramatically different than its current state.--Rockfang (talk) 17:40, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion

I notice that you tagged the page Sports Movie (Parody) for speedy deletion with the reason "an article about a real person, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject". While that's a valid reason for speedy deletion in general, this page does not qualify for speedy deletion under that criterion because it is not an article about a real person, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content; it is about a movie. If you still want the page to be deleted, please consider tagging it with a speedy deletion template which does apply, redirecting it to another page, or using the WP:PROD process. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 19:39, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm just curious, what is a csd that can apply to that? Thanks, -Zeus- [t|c] 19:41, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Nothing, sadly. Same thing with Madison finn; it's about a fictional character rather than a real person. You'll have to prod it. Stifle (talk) 20:57, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Actually, on that one, I've changed my mind. The author's only contributions are adding nonsense about her nn fiction series. Although strictly not a speedy deletion reason, I've removed it per WP:NOT#WEBHOST. Stifle (talk) 20:58, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, I prodded Sports Movie (Parody), but i'm expecting the creator to remove it, so I'll have to go to AfD. -Zeus- [t|c] 21:00, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Hey, I was curious, How do I get closure on a AfD? like this one: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/TradeMark_Express Or do I have to wait the 5 days. -Zeus- [t|c] 21:03, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

adoption

Hi, I know you're not in the program, but I was wondering if you'd be willing to adopt me. -Zeus- [t|c] 22:07, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, but I wouldn't be able to give enough time to you for that. Stifle (talk) 22:32, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Rollback

I have 1 granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 04:50, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

sorry

i didn't read the whole message in about the speedy deletion, in retrospect i really should have i thought that i was supposed to just add value to the article then someone would review it etc... long story short what am i supposed to do after adding value to an article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Venmon (talkcontribs) 02:39, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

The only thing you can do is put a {{hangon}} on the page and give a reason on the talk page. Also, sign your posts like this: ~~~~ -Zeus-uc 02:41, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Cervicography

I tried to fix cervicography topic in few installments, saving as I go, but I ended up getting "last warning" for vandalism so I am afraid of trying to edit it anymore to fix the copyright issue! I would like to fix it without jeopardizing anything else!

You need to fix it WITHOUT removing the line {{db-copyvio}} from the top of the article. I removed the last warning. -Zeus-uc 04:01, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I see you have already taken a look at the new page I created. Is it OK with you...? Please let me know what more should be done Jon Ascton (talk) 21:11, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, if you can put it on COMMONS: and put a written permission from her. Are you her husband / related person? -Zeus-uc 04:14, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
No, nothing like that. I only came to know about her from a link that was there on reincarnation page, a couple of days back. You know her website address, why don't you ask her for her pic on behalf of Wikipedia ? Jon Ascton (talk) 04:21, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
Kind of busy, and I don't find reincarnation that important. If you feel it's important, you should do it. -Zeus-uc 04:22, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for helping out that new user who created the above-captioned article, and you were quite right, I am about to delete it. Just in case -- in the very small chance that some other editor will tag the material on the user's userpage as being spam, I've taken the liberty of creating a "sandbox" page with the material. I just wanted to say that I appreciate the trouble you've taken with this user; thanks for not biting the newbie! If you have any questions or problems, I'm at your service. Accounting4Taste:talk 20:00, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Sure thing. Actually, I do have a question: What is your take on this? BIL (conference)? He makes some arguments on the talk page, but I think I'm still right. If I'm not, could you explain it?
Also, do you know how to tell Cluebot III to archive the talk page? I added the template, but so far it's only archived one entry, but the most recent post on it wasn't any older than other ones. -Zeus-uc 20:04, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

roynat page

Why did you flag my new page for speedy deletion so fast? It was written from an unbiased point of view and had references from published and electronic sources. This was my first article so please let me know so I can fix it instead of having a redirect to another page Js96734 (talk) 18:53, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

It was redirected to the parent company page because it was decided that it wasn't important enough to have its own page. If you have more info on it, I suggest you work it into Scotiabank. -Zeus-uc 18:56, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back to me about this. I was wondering what the criteria was for judging the importance? re: # of employees, $ of assets, # of offices etc? I'm just looking for some guidance because perhaps if I researched and added more information you would see the importance. Js96734 (talk) 19:32, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Here's what I'm going to do: I put a copy of the article when you created it at User:Js96734/Roynat. That way you can edit it and get it better without getting it deleted. When you think it's good, tell me and I'll take a look at it. -Zeus-uc 19:36, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Ok - will do. thanks Js96734 (talk) 20:13, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

G3 > G7?

Hi, I noticed that you changed the tag on State of Korea from WP:G3, vandalism, to WP:G7, page blanked by author. However, if you check the history, you will see that it was not blanked by the author, but by another editor due to its content, hence the tag 'This page has been blanked as a courtesy' on the article space. It still falls under G3, and not G7, because it was not blanked by the page creator. -Zeus-uc 21:53, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. Thought G7 was a better fit, but I guess I was wrong. Sorry! Riotrocket8676 You gotta problem with that? 21:55, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
No problem. It would have been if the author had blanked it, but since he didn't, that csd was invalid. -Zeus-uc 21:57, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Valencia Tool & Die

The original link to Valencia Tool & Die was red and a part of an article already on Wikipedia about the San Francisco punk scene. I clicked the red link and was prompted to write the article. So I am concerned that Wikipedia seems to promote people writing articles about what "they know about," and editors seem to be able to nominate them for deletion although the editor does not have any credentials in that particular area -- that being San Francisco Punk scene of the late seventies and early eighties.

I wrote three books on the subject, at least one of which is quoted elsewhere on Wikipedia (Hardcore California: A History of Punk and New Wave), and co-founded two magazines that were about the punk scene during that era, so I guess I'm a little miffed that you can dismiss it so flatly and without much of a reason other than you find it unremarkable on the one hand, and yet other entities that were active at the same time like the Deaf Club and Target Video are already on Wikipedia on the other.

I guess I'm wondering just what your credentials are. Did you ever go to the Deaf Club, Target Video or Tool & Die? Were you living in SF at the time? Were you involved in the scene? What are your qualifications to dismiss this article? Belsipe (talk) 00:38, 10 February 2009 (UTC) belsipe 2-9-09

Thank you very much, Zeus

The renaming conversions from "Northern" to "North" in legal change of the name from "Northern" Cyprus to "North" Cyprus could be made via the way you mentioned as well. The consensus was provided just as the following:

All wiki-page names including "Northern" will be recreated as "North" and then instead of redirecting from "Northern" to "North" in the old page, what will be done is just to putting the expression "THIS PAGE MUST BE DELETED BY A WIKI-ADMIN SINCE THE PAGE WAS RENAMED AS ... in the old page so that a Wiki-admin can fast delete the old page. Cheapfriends (talk) 15:46, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
No, you can't do that. Just move the page. We need to keep the history intact. -Zeus- [t|c] 15:47, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Dear Zeus, your thinking of the History page of the related articles are very nice. On the other hand, the number of articles about North Cyprus is very low. i.e. NC is not a Germany or France. Also, look at please Category:North Cyprus and Category:Northern Cyprus: Already, the considerable amount of moving phase completed successfully. About History page: don't worry please. Since, the number of contributors are very small in each article related with NC. Also, upon deleting the History pages of the old Northern pages, the MegaByte capacity of the articles can be protected as well. Thank you for your kind interest. Adoption

Hi, I've been scouting around for an adopter, and I think you might be a good fit. I often monitor Special:NewPages/Special:RecentChanges. I would like to get more experience on the article-editing side of things, but I'd also like to have someone to ask questions to (mostly CSD/AfD related). -Zeus-uc 20:28, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Sure, I can certainly help you around (although oddly enough it seems you've been around longer than I have ;-) ). I'm not the greatest article writer myself, as I tend to focus on the areas you do. What sorts of articles would you be interested in? Hersfold (t/a/c) 22:07, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Even though I've been around longer, I've only been actively involved for less than a year. I'm mostly interested in cleanup-related stuff, not so much creation. What is your take on this? I came across this which I'm pretty sure is fiction, but I'm not sure if they're the same person. -Zeus-uc 22:11, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
It's been deleted; that article was a clear violation of our Biographies of living people policy, and didn't really assert why she was notable either (you know how A7 works). An article could be made there (or rather at the title with correct capitalization) eventually, I'm sure, but it would need some pretty heavy referencing. Hersfold (t/a/c) 22:29, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
I'm still a little hesitant with A7 when it's a big article because they seem more important, but I shouldn't do that I guess. You can reply here if you want, I'm watching the page. -Zeus-uc 22:33, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
That's actually a good thing; in this case, there were multiple problems with the article, and so it needed to go. If this article were about a company or something, though, it probably would be better to just prod it or something. It depends, but it usually is better to play it safe. Hersfold (t/a/c) 22:43, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Wet trout award

User:Stevertigo/Trout

While I appreciate the humor... I indeed laughed quite loudly, I don't think the trout was warranted. After all, deleting an article like my pet goldfish does integral calculus might, in most cases, qualify for a speedy tag. The creation of a stub on a real topic, even if its under four single-spaced pages in size - is not the same thing - and requires discussion. Now, if you actually had discussed it on the talk (I seem to remember you saying something there - was that deleted too?) and along with a number of other people, came to an open and supported conclusion, then a big trout might have been justified. Thanks, -Stevertigo 21:01, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
The talk page got auto-deleted because it was orphaned. And the fact of the matter is, as hard as it may be for you to hear, the fact that it was deleted without discussion is just more proof that I was right. I nominated it your article for speedy deletion under policy A7, which, among other, things, states:
An article about a real person, an organization (e.g. band, club, company, etc., except schools), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant.
I thought that your article fit under those guidelines, and the reviewing admin agreed. Now, if you really think the article didn't fall under those criterion, then you are free to contest the deletion at deletion review. -Zeus-uc 22:45, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Notice

Hi, I just wanted to warn you that most of you redirects with inc, corp, etc are being deleted, because they are not part of wikipedia policy. -Zeus-uc 04:16, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Can you please tell me the policy? I am redirecting companies legal names to their wiki pages. Svgalbertian (talk) 04:19, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Um, pretty much the policy is, we don't make redirects for the legal names. -Zeus-uc 04:20, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
I think it is a very reasonable thing to do, and seems to be within the policy on redirects as it redirects a full name to a common name.--Svgalbertian (talk) 04:29, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

I think you may be mistaken -Zeus-, where was it decided that redirects from the 'inc' or 'corp' suffixes should be deleted? The titles of those redirects are neither implausible nor misnomers (as in many cases it is the legal name!). Icewedge (talk) 06:07, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

CSD R3

Please do not nominate reasonable redirects as R3. Redirects, in general, are cheap, and the full legal name of a corporation, for example, is a perfectly fine redirect. Jclemens (talk) 06:24, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

I need to be pointed to a guideline on this matter. Most admins will delete those redirects under WP:R3, as they have in the past. -Zeus-uc 13:11, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Template:Super Bowl lead-out program has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. Maitch (talk) 23:48, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Letting the membership of a WikiProject whose short cut is up for deletion discussion is not WP:CANVASSing - note that I did not advocate a position, but merely mentioned that it was under discussion. If I had made a call for action, then it would have been a violation of that behavioral guideline (as I'm sure you have checked my contribution history, you've probably noticed that I have made only one such notification regarding this discussion, as I'm sure you've limited yourself to just the one yourself). I must also remind you of another Wikipedia behavioral guideline while we're at it: assume good faith, as I am doing so as I write this. 147.70.242.54 (talk) 01:47, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

The guidelines of WP:CANVAS include, among others, the criterion of votestacking
Votestacking is an attempt to sway consensus by selectively notifying editors who have or are thought to have a predetermined point of view or opinion (which may be determined, among other ways, from a userpage notice, such as a userbox, or from user categorization), and thus encouraging them to participate in the discussion.
The goal of a rfd is not a vote, but a reasonable consensus. Including other people will not always help with that. -Zeus-uc 19:53, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I declined the speedy deletion since it didn't meet any of the CSD criteria. If you wish to pursue deletion then it should be taken to WP:RFD. TerriersFan (talk) 20:31, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

TfD deletion of Super Bowl lead-out program

Hi, I noticed that you deleted {{Super Bowl lead-out program}}. However, don't you think you should have at least edited the template to a subst so at least the pages had the sequence box before you deleted it? currently, all the tv show pages are missing the info, and I sure don't feel like fixing it. -Zeus-uc 13:39, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

I'll take care of it. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 04:04, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Could you userify the template to User:-Zeus-/Sandbox? -Zeus-uc 04:42, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
I just deleted it again. I'll userfy it. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 04:45, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
It's been moved here. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 04:49, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Sex-selective abortion and female infanticide

This edit series you did made the title of the article less accurate. The article describes a social phenomenon where female fetuses and infants are killed because they are female. This phenomenon is present in many cultures, historic and contemporary. There is no evidence of any culture practicing sex-selective abortion or infanticide of male fetuses and infants. I was not able to find any evidence of any such situation on Google. If you would like to expand the scope of the article to reflect termination of male fetuses or killing of male infants, please provide some evidence for any such phenomenon. Thank you. • I've been RFDing these because redirects to special pages just plain don't work (i.e., if you type in the shortcut, it dumps you on the shortcut page instead of actually redirecting). Precedent seems to be that we should get rid of redirects to special pages because of their broken nature. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Many ottersOne hammerHELP) 04:17, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Redirects to special pages partly work, but they are not automatic, they are like a Redirect in a book.--Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 07:03, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Phillies

Awesome!! However, the "ALT" color is not correct. Please see the original PNG for the creamy, off-white color used by the team. -- Scjessey (talk) 00:41, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Agree. Was just coming to comment on this. Also, please retain the original filenames or move the SVG images to the old filenames; they are named as such for a reason and follow a specific format. KV5 (TalkPhils) 01:09, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
I made a redirect from File:NLE-Uniform-PHI.svg, but I couldn't find how to move it. Can you not move files? Now I see what you mean about the cream jerseys, it was so subtle I missed it. I am changing it now. -Zeus-u|c 01:22, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
All done, I am putting it back on the Phillies page. -Zeus-u|c 01:44, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

You have requested an undelete for this image, however, there is no image to undelete. It's just a redirect. At this time there's no way to move images. If you want to upload another image with that name, you should be able to do so. Skier Dude (talk) 04:02, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Philadelphia Eagles helmet rightface.svg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Philadelphia Eagles helmet rightface.svg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. thanks for help at debt page

Hi, your recent edit returning the debt/gdp to the current CIA factbook quote was what I intended to do. Thanks for making it really happen. 018 (talk) 18:08, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Bruce Momjian requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. andy (talk) 21:15, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
