I am not a sock puppet, nor am I a vandal. My biggest crime is being new and unfamiliar with protocol. My edits have been mostly in punctuation, capitalization etc. I feel that I have been blocked unfairly, and my username has been criticized as being offensive. I received a message from I DREAM OF HORSES after creating my account, and there was no mention of my username (Zeppelindork) being offensive. "Zeppelin" is widely used in reference to the prestigious musical group Led Zeppelin (recipients of the "Kennedy Center Honors"), and is a highly sought after username on virtually every site across the internet which allows for the creation of user accounts; and the term "dork" is similar to "nerd" or "geek", in that it characterizes someone as being a bit awkward socially, yet possessing a certain level of expertise in a particular field. Surely "Zeppelindork" must be an innocuous moniker. However, I am still open to opposing points of view. And, if presented with a sufficiently compelling reason, would even acquiesce by bidding the whimsically offbeat and creative expression of my individuality, Zeppelindork, a fond farewell (ie change my username). I hope you have found my temperament to be earnest and considerate, yet somehow consistent with the rigorous and driven determination of my delivery. If I have seemed a scosche defensive, it is because my sincere and honest efforts to contribute have been misunderstood. I hope that this appeal finds someone who sees in me the promise of a valuable team member, eager to find the place where he may best hone and cultivate his abilities.Zeppelindork (talk) 05:37, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
- Zeppelindork, I'm not sure of the details surrounding your block, but I highly doubt your name had anything to do with it. It seems as if it may have been an autoblock, as there's nothing regarding you on the SPI, but I can't really speak to that either. What I can do, however, is direct you to this page here, and encourage you to follow the directions outlined there to dispute the claim: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/SPI/Guidance#Defending_yourself_against_claims . I hope that helps. Quinto Simmaco (talk) 06:25, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
Dear Quinto Simmaco,
Thank you for your swift response to my post. Your advice was right on the money, and greatly appreciated. Your link took me to a page which met all of my needs, where I then submitted my appeal - all in record time! I wish all my on-line endeavors were as painless. I was also glad that you seemed to share my disbelief at the objection to my username. It's not a huge deal if do I have to change it (although I sure hammed it up in my appeal! ;+D ). Kinda like the petty insult of being picked on by having sand kicked in one's face.
Also, here's what it said when I tried to post on your talk page:

OUCH!!! My username is "profane", and in "blatant violation of" username policy! Oh well...
