I now Tokyo Mew Mew DVDs translated by honobono. So now, whenever you want me to see something in an episode, just let me know, cause I know explaining an episode is hard. THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED! 13:18, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

And one more thing: how many references should be added to the Alteration section before its no longer original research? THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED! 13:25, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

What I ment was how many citation per section? Like how many for the chimera anima, ichigo's age, etc.

But now that I think about it, we gonna have to model TTM after like Cardcaptor and Sailor moon. I'm removing the character's section, otherwise the template has no point. THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED! 19:53, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

RE: Tokyo Mew Mew layout (sandbox)

Hi,

I have looked at the sandbox version (I know it might be a little early...)

I am impressed with the results so far, but the two column section with the ISBN is not correctly aligned. The code in the table seems to fix it. I hope it helps!

Regards - G.A.S 17:18, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Yes, it works... Thank you. But... on my computer everything looked OK with what I originally wrote, I copied the code from one article. It probably has something to do with the web browser. 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk
I have thought about the general layout, and came up with a layout that might work, with the content pretty much as discussed. Please refer to the table and let me know what you think. You will need to preview it - I want to know what you think.
I think it covers the most important content, but is in no way meant to be complete
Regards
G.A.S 19:28, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
I had a look at User:Yume_no_Kishi/Sandbox/TMM-charlist. The list is much easier to read now than it was previously. But will it still be necessary to have a list for characters and minor characters? - I think yes - due to the fact that the minor character list is supposed to be more complete than the list for the main characters (whom each have their own main article.)
I however feel that the main article is still too short without the characters info - refer to suggestion above.
I think the name origin and kanji must be presented in the main article since it has little to do with the characters per se and is more for background purposes. And that requires at least some character info to be presented as well.
The additional info in the Sandbox article is a welcome addition (esp. staff - but this should be added for the manga seperately)
You may also find {{Template:Underconstruction}} or {{underconstruction|notready=true}} useful.
Regards
G.A.S 20:29, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
I am quite impressed with the current layout - it may require more tweaking - but is much better than before.
I love what you did with the main characters.
I still think the Miscellaneous section should rather be a subsection of characters, or the sub-sections should be main sections - I avoid using "miscellaneous" / "other" sections like the plague. (ie. 4.1 → 1.1 and 4.2 → 1.2, or 4.1 → 4 and 4.2 → 5)
Futhermore - how does "miscellaneous" differ from "trivia"? (except for the fact that the subsections are not one-liners)
I also rather "see also: character list" and "see also: minor characters" be added to the Main characters section.
The adaptations section still require information about the Italian version.
RE: Name origin and Characters' kanji - I think these sections can be better presented in table form (The type without visible borders or cells) - otherwise the article will end up as list after list after list...
The Table of content should be moved as is done in TGV below the intro paragraphs, or maybe just to the right, since it tends to be in the way.
I would be happy to help, if required.

G.A.S 15:23, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

One of my friends here ("fellow Wikipedians") thinks there shouldn't be any characters list at all, because the characters articles are all linked through the template. I personally think that a list of characters is a good thing: it gives basic info with almost no spoilers, so that you don't have to wander through the characters' articles to just learn who they are.

I'll think what else can be done with these things. 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk 15:35, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

I would like to tell you that I prefer a characters article/section as well - as previously mentioned Here. I would also like to focus your attention to the manual of style.
Regarding the introduction, the following seems to provide guidance - Wikipedia:Lead (Even I am surprised as to the amount of guidance provided)

I think this layout will work a bit better, but you might have to update it to the new formatting.
Regards, G.A.S 18:00, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
I wonder if this stuff can be moved to the article now, 'cause the article looks awful after the characters' info was removed. And I'm not sure what to do with the alterations section: leave it where it is or move to the adaptations article.
Interestingly, the main CCS article does actually list all the characters in addition to the template... 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk

It occured to me to re-made the alterations/adaptations stuff as was done in CCS articles. I made a separate page for MMP and the English manga, and another one for other adaptations. 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk

CCS? You almost lost me on that one - G.A.S 11:21, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Haha, unfortunately, I belong to the category of anime fans who are too lazy to type the titles of anime series and almost never think whether or not other people can understand what does SM, TMM, MKR or CCS stand for. ^_^;
I think the main article is now long enough to be put where it should be. The only problem is that the Adaptations article now needs to be split into "English" and "Other".
I was wondering if I can put some additional info on the music into the article. There are two insert songs that I think should be mentioned somewhere... and I can get some info on the soundtracks, if anything...
Also, I think there should be a picture of the show's original logo in the article. 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk
I agree with the logo -I think it should go with the infobox, or to the right of the lead paragraph.
I did not know "It was also published in English in Singapore by Chuang Yi." - It may need expanding.
IRO the music - rename "Theme songs" to "Music" and then you can add it there. What do you have in mind?
Regards
G.A.S 14:56, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
I think now the text should be put into the article - it has been "under construction" for almost 2 days. Do you think my sandbox version of it is good enough to be moved to its normal place? I can add more stuff later. 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk 15:34, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
The article is now much, much better than before, and may be placed in the normal spot.
First check that no information in the previous version is lost, since it will be next to impossible to compare later.
I will do some minor formatting once it is placed. (Eg. Formatting all tables to look the same, All tables should have headers etc.)
Regards, G.A.S 15:59, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure what to do with the Alterations section.

I originally planned to move the info on the Tokyopop's manga and Mew Mew Power into a separate article, and then add info on other dubs into Adaptations article (this stuff is on subpages linked from my sandbox). If it's better to leave this stuff where it was, then I'll place Alterations back into the main article. What do you think? 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk 16:10, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

I think that those sections is better on a different page, otherwise it will take too much space in the main article, in the current article it takes up 47% of the article (word count).
As with most of my prior comment, I think (as is currently the case), a short paragraph in the main article is sufficient.
As in the sandbox version, I prefer an Englist adaptations and an "Other adaptations" article (at least until such time one of them justify an article of their own, but this being the English Wikipedia, I doubt that will happen).
Regards, G.A.S 16:32, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Then I'll first split the Adaptations, and then move the main article text, so that there'll be no broken links... wah, I'll need to update the template now... 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk 16:40, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Nice work so far! Seems like the main character list should still be created, I have added commented code to link it from the main article. (I really think it is necessary to do so). The English adaptions article is much better now. I am unsure about the International adaptations article, though - maybe aligning the left row's headers with the other rows will make it better.
Maybe this will work:
What do you think?
BTW, is the under construction template still needed on the main article?
Regards, G.A.S 20:28, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi again,
I have thought about items that could be added to the article. For instance:
- Something can be mentioned about the viewpoint of the Anime (For instance, most of the time the story is told from the view of Ichigo, except in Lettuce's Love),
- It could be mentioned under Anime how long a typical episode is, or "... 52 episodes of xx minutes each"
- RE: The episode list; do you think there is use in a separate spoiler free episode list?
- It was mentioned before that the show had a environmental side. This may need a short paragraph somewhere.
- How does the volumes of the Manga tie up with Episodes from the Anime?
Sincerely, G.A.S 11:42, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean by "spoiler free episode list"... just... a list of episodes without description or something like that? Because Cardcaptor Sakura articles include both episode list (without summaries) and episode guide, and I originally planned to do the same with Tokyo Mew Mew (especially since I made the Tokyo Mew Mew template by altering the one from Cardcaptor Sakura articles ^_^;). But I'm not sure if it's a good idea...
I can't say anything about the manga, because I don't have the manga, and so can't compare the two versions.
I'll think more about this stuff. 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk
RE: the list - I meant something like List_of_Star_Trek:_Voyager_episodes, but you are correct, there is no sense in it, unless each episode has an article.
It seems there are two options:
- Do away with the Italian list by merging it into the current episode lists, or
- Put a list for each language, into the international adaptations article, and only the Japanese names in the current episode list.

Re: Tokyo Mew Mew article

Hi Yumi,

Regarding Reiko and Tokyo Mew Mew A la Mode

It seems Reiko is mentioned on the cover of some editions of volume 1; REF ANN, TokyoPop — but not always; REF Worldcat advertisement, Internet Book Database, Librarything.

Reiko is not mentioned on the cover of volume 2; REF TokyoPop, Worldcat (With more info re authors), Internet book database (Red cover)

Can you translate the author(s) from the Japanese version? Amazon Japan: Volume 1 & Volume 2

Regards, G.A.S 17:10, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Regarding the characters' article (in your sandbox)

I am of the opinion that this article can be moved to a Wikipedia article, it provides a good overview of the main characters.

Regards, G.A.S 17:10, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Regarding differences between the anime and the manga

The French Wikipedia (Google translate) seems to have information on this.

If you have not done so already, check out the article. The other Wikipedias seems to be either stubs or a translated version of the English article.

Regards, G.A.S 17:10, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Do you think it is worth adding these?

Regards, G.A.S 17:52, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

  • I've looked at Amazon.co.jp: the description of the volumes only list Ikumi as the author, and there's no mention of Reiko Yoshida; I think she's not mentioned on the covers either.
  • If we make the characters' article, Angelofdeath275 is gonna hate me, and I don't want that, because she is my friend (even though I actually do support the idea of making a character list.
  • Currently I can't stay on Wikipedia for a long time (Internet problems as well... >.<), so it is useless to work on the article that way; in a day or two I'll be able to use my own computer, and I'll see what can be added to the article.
  • The links are good.

RE: Characters' article:
I have looked at a lot of TV related articles:
The article may or may not have a navigational template; regardless :—
  • The standard seems to be to list all main characters on the main page (With or without further detail),
  • with a "see also" section to the minor characters. (As is currently the case, except secondary characters are missing)
The current list in the main article is good though; it will be made useless if all of the characters is named in it (as was previously done). I have no idea how the secondary characters can be added. (A new main section??? (No) / A level 2 header under the mews list??? (No) / Add them to the minor characters list??? (No) / Rename the minor character list and add it then??? (Might work)) / A second character part in the main article, with the current one renamed? (And without either being redundant) (Might work if done correctly — this may give the best results)
The content in the list is good though — I think it can be used as the lead paragraphs on the characters' pages (Only where it is better than the current lead paragraph)
Regards, G.A.S 16:38, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Please refer to Anime and Manga article structure. It seems the project site has an opinion about it as well. (The whole guide seems useful); I will go study it now, regards, G.A.S 20:36, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
RE The layout

Hi Yume.

Please do not have an heart attack! — Some minor movements or expanding may be needed.

I have compared TMM to the list as provided, please see notes. Generally the content seems to be good (ie nothing should be removed), some sections might need moving or expanding. (Just cut and paste, maybe heading level change)

It seems that the current layout is much closer to the guidelines than before, though.

"Article structure should be flexible and responsive to unique or exceptional aspects of individual subjects, but the following guidelines should suffice in most cases."

  • Lead needs work (should be able to stand on its own as an article).
  • Infobox is good
  • Characters is good (Due to subpages) but "If the character section grows long, please reconsider the amount of detail or number of characters included. Beyond that, a separate page, named List of characters in (series), may be appropriate."
    • The project does not cover name origin, but I guess the scope falls in here.
  • Production will need work (regarding content) (Currently: Variations and Adaptations)
    • Anime vs. Manga will also go here
    • Translation go here (This might need moving - but it is only small sections)
    • Refer to list in wikiproject article
  • Reception. Yeah - this is where it gets interesting.
  • Media information.
    • Needs to go further to the back of the article
    • Release info, Episodes, Music should go here (These seems to be the only things that needs to be moved)
    • Characters' names origin - This seems to be unique to TMM. I think it should stay exactly where it is (for now).

Lets first discuss it with Angelofdeath275 first, though. Regards, G.A.S 21:36, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

What in damn world am I to do. You and G.A.S changed the TMM artiicle it so much I have no idea what the hell do now. I removed ONE section, the characters. That is not changeing an entire article. I have changed entire articles before. THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED! 20:09, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Yes, but this section was the largest one, and what else had been there in the article? The lead paragraph, the alterations section, the characters' names explanation and links. No info related to the show itself, which is what the article should be about. Are you even reading my messages? I'm not saying you were wrong, I'm saying we should have added some info before removing the section, so that the article would still look normal and have enough useful info. Geez, I had to put the "under construction" template on it! Of course, I could have left it as it was, and wait for you to appear on-line, but why, if I could just go ahead and add some text? 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk

Yes it would look very downsized, but that usually happens when removing one section.

If the article looked normal (in terms of size) because of that one section, thats a little saddening. It would seem the article is more about them. You said something about a article for the characters? We already do (the minor characters). I did do that with another article (move character section to article), but that was because it was WAY to big. I think character articles are made when the majority of the characters arent important to have their own article. So I dont think it would be ok to maake an article for section. THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED! 13:29, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

I remember seeing somwhere that if you go "edit this page" at the top, if it says this page is 32 kilobytes long, it's getting too long.

RE Tokyo Mew Mew (Again)

My prior post
I am unsure if you read my previous post. This may make more sense in the TODO userpage, I am willing to do the changes, if needed. Or it may be left until later.
I was busy with finding some info on the web... we do need references, after all. Especially for the differences between the anime and manga, if we made a section about it. I did some research, but I couldn't find a good webpage to cite. I was going to add some info first, and then rearrange the sections, but... well... 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk
I'll add some references this weekend, I found a few during the week. G.A.S 18:44, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Anonymous edit
I am unsure as to the accuracy of the edit, although Google Translate gives the same result. What do you think?
Checked two online dictionaries - the translation is correct (moreover, it does seem to fit the naming pattern...) 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk
Checked it myself as well Water Well has an article on the Japanese Wiki "井戸" (and the Chinese one — "井"), I'll change the link accordingly. G.A.S 18:44, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
RE Characters individual articles
I am willing to give a go in designing character infobox templates similar to {{Template:Sailor Moon character}}. This makes sense to me since all characters has a profile section with the same information. This specific template can also be used in the characters' signature color. Do you think it is needed and what info will be needed? (It will hide unused fields)
I came up with the idea of adding infoboxes long ago, but it was rejected by Angelofdeath275, because the Mews' profiles are pretty big... 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk
Maybe just the more basic info? (It seems to be rather standard on some shows' articles (with large articles)(BSG, Star Trek, Sailor Moon, Simpsons) I think useful items are family (linked to specific minor characters), English, Japanese names, other basic information. It may be time to rethink it, the characters articles have grown quite a bit since they were started and are usually paragraphs. I also think it is a good idea since a lot of similar characters exists with similar traits. G.A.S 18:44, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
And remember, an infobox per se is not a replacement for anything in an article, it provides useful links and basic info — G.A.S 18:53, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

As always, I'll watch this space. Regards, G.A.S 17:41, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

I remember that someone once added an infobox to one of the Mews articles, and it was just too big, because the whole profile was put there. We'll need to think what exactly can be put into the infoboxes. And I'm still not sure about this thing, even though I do support the idea... 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk 18:58, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
