Hi there.
I'm no admin, so I don't know if I can provide a welcome message... --Addict 2006 17:36, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you. Now at least something is written on my talk page, too. ^_^ Yume no Kishi 18:46, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Well, you may actually have to do something with your user page now. That way something will be written on your talk page. Here are a bunch of anime userboxes. Too bad there's no mewmew ones. And don't ask. --Addict 2006 19:57, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- And you don't have to put THAT much of an indent now do you? --Addict 2006 19:57, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- I don't really know how to use userboxes yet... so it'll probably take me some time to describe myself using them... But it still seems better than writing normal text.
Yume no Kishi 21:29, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes! I learned how to use userboxes, and even created one "TMM-fan" userbox. ^_^;;;
Well, I've decided to try and sort out my userbox area. Though I think you could make a /TMM-box link or something under your user page (remember to leave that slash there and make it in your user page and not the talk page), to make it more portable or something. Other users did that! --Addict 2006 15:59, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- Or you could put a /TMM-fan link on your user page (not this talk page) with the slash there. Or something. I know you're a new person here. And I still can't put a welcome message! I joined last year in March and I still don't make userboxes! I mean, I haven't really improved on my wiki-markup knowledge until October or something. --Addict 2006 16:01, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- Once again don't ask. --Addict 2006 16:02, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
I originally signed for a Wikipedia account only to fix one particular kanji. ^_^;;; Yes... so, I didn't know that I would stay here... But then I started to discover numerous mistakes in the articles, created a topic in the TMM discussion for one of them, and... I'm still here.
Yume no Kishi 18:56, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
*Strong Bad voice* I originally signed up for a Wikipedia account in my ever-spreading quest to disambiguate Bubble Bobble 2 from Bubble Symphony and Part 2 and Rainbow Islands... And then I went ahead and tried to make the article for Bust-A-Move Millennium because I kinda had the game... *normal voice* Okay, I'm no good at this. And I saw your other mewmew userbox. Anyway, my point of visiting again is to provide you with a welcome message and the only way I can do so is if I lead you here! And oh yeah, there's tons more (of my interests) where I come from. One of them being the rest of the shows that 4kids "killed", and maybe a little of Homestar Runner. What? You never heard of Homestar Runner? I'm getting impatient just waiting for the next Strong Bad Email (that's a popular feature on their site). --Addict 2006 22:15, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
I kinda got bored while waiting for people to continue our discussion about "Tokyo Mew Mew" (translation errors in particular), so I went into creating userboxes... I usually prefer not to edit articles myself, but first describe the changes I want to make, so that other people could help with putting the info into better words or finding sources that confirm it.
Yume no Kishi 22:34, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- I know you're fairly new and all, but they suggest you be bold in updating pages and just go ahead with it. Maybe then it can be improved on, but you'd have to put things like citation needed which produces this: [citation needed]; and verification needed which produces [verification needed]. Now let me tell you this also: There's been vandalism lately, and it can happen anywhere around here. I've done some vandalism clearing before. Now I know our interests really contrast and all (or so I think). --Addict 2006 00:09, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Due to LOTS of translation errors in Tokyopop's TMM manga many fans are confused, and some of them seem to not believe our explanations even if we provide a link to a reliable source. It's easy to add info to Wikipedia articles, but it's so hard to prevent this info from being deleted...
Yume no Kishi 00:25, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Hmm. Well, anyway:
I saw this episode (probably one of those in the mid-20s).

It's where Ichigo/Zoey does the Mew Aqua Drops (or Blue Aqua Drops) thing.

It was on YouTube, and the subtitler didn't set the language properly. Of course, that's not what you were talking about. And if you really want to ask about why I stated her as Ichigo/Zoey rather than just Ichigo, ask me ASAP. (I canNOT believe I just typed her Japanese name out loud.)
About another thing, yeah, I did read about the partial translation stuff in that mewmew article. Just getting used to what 4kids "killed" off. Please indent your reply to this.

"Knight of the Dream" (夢の騎士)?.. I don't remember when I invented this nickname, it was long time ago. I've had tons of nicknames before this one, but when I started to learn some Japanese (I kinda have an obsession with Japan and its culture; that's why I started to watch anime), I decided to give myself some "Japanese" nickname, so I just translated my previous one into Japanese...

Userboxes
So, are you going to try and make them somewhat convenient to cut and paste around? For example: I kinda made/derived a few userboxes, though it's highly not that much. I mean, you could put a /Userboxes link on your user page or something and then from that, create a /Mewmew1 link. Then that way you'd have a path of User:Yume no Kishi/Userboxes/Mewmew1 to put each userbox code in to make it convenient to copy and paste! And that way, people can, if they do know about the code, put that code with and marks instead! Honestly, I'm going too complex, am I? I do not want to add to your page in any way because I'm really not allowed to edit other people's pages. Okay. okay. I'll stop now. --Going a bit crazy, Addict 2006 05:21, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

RE: Ribbon/Reborn
You have the entire section about "reborn"? That is really good, but dont give up! Don't let one person break you down!
I'm assuming either Fushi2 or a friend is responible for trying to delete the "reborn" section. Fushi2 is trying vey hard to defend the incorrect translation. The IP address that tried deleting the "rebon" section has attempted to do so before. It wasn't an identical IP address, but one similar, as IP addresses change. So it is 1 or 2 people tring to remove the "reborn" section.
Please dont let them get their way!
"THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" 01:38, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Hi!
I believe your translation is correct, I just noticed that someone deleted that section without justification and I reverted it back. --Nevhood 02:11, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

THE GREAT RIBBON/REBORN MADNESS!
So, here I'll place all info that confirms in any way that "reborn" is the correct translation, just for the reference. If anyone wants to vandalize my Talk page by deleting/rewriting this info, I'll only be glad, as it'll give me some reasons for asking the Wikipedia sysops to block your IP.
- Sailor Saturn's attack "Death Reborn Revolution" (source: DIES GAUDII).

Wow! I was thinking the same thing!!! I'm going to contact him and ask him to write about it.
FYI: you know that site the fushi did the poll? I tried explaning it to them. I got one convined, but the other are as bad as fushi..; immature, and wont accept "reborn" simiple because it doesn't "sound right"...yea I know.. a dumb reason.

Ok, I'll try find good forums where the people are mature, raional and, logical. The people at TMM forums arent any of this. Sailor Moon forums is a good idea, since people who know about TMM most likely know Sailor Moon, and the ribbon/reborn confusion has been present. So, far the fist forum for me to come to mind would probaly be...Advent Children forums. It has an anime section, some time ago, 've was looking at posts, and people there were mature. But can you give some other sites that would probaly be a good idea?
"Keeping the info on discussion pages without placing it in the articles is very inconvinient."
Yes it is.Technically, user pages arent articles, because it about a wikiuser. It not something everyone should edit. But your saying I'm can uedit your subpage right?
"I believe that this mistakes stuff is rather important, as many fans are confused by mistranslations"
Yes. I've seen so many fansites where animal has been used, people dont translate the mews weapons/attacks correctly.
"What do you think of this idea? Shall I go talk to Nihonjoe and ask him if it's ok to do so... or maybe we'll simply do it without asking permission?"
I really like this idea! Now talking to Nihonjoe....maybe if we cant get this done in a week, and later on where able to improve it, you could ask him it if ok to put it back in the article.
"THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" 00:33, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
edit: there are people on the Mew Mew Power Uncensoured forums that are intelligent! Here is one person comment I like:
"The song says "ribbon", but the attack is "reborn". Compare the pics/text. They ARE different. I double checked this all with a Japanese-fluent friend, and he confirmed it."
Whoa!
While I was busy over at the frustrations with the new Strong Bad Email, you're over here frustrating with the half-vandals of the ribbon/reborn section. (I canNOT believe I just typed that out loud.) That seems to be what happened.
As far as I can tell, it's "Reborn" in TMM. "Reborn" and "ribbon" just
aren't spelled the same way in the Japanese script, so even if a pun
happens to be involved, that doesn't mean that the script can be both
"reborn" and "ribbon." There are times when there is ambiguity in the
Japanese script, but the "reborn"/"ribbon" thing isn't one of them.

I suppose I could write something about it in my LiveJournal. Soon or
later, I'll update my "reborn"/"ribbon" section at DIES GAUDII by
adding a mention of the "reborn"/"ribbon" thing from TMM.

In the sailor moon manga, did Mixx (now known as Tokyopop) mistranslate sailor saturn's attack to death ribbon revolution?
"THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" 18:26, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
They all most likely come from neko tokyo's forums, called red data forums; the palce where I tried explaining "reborn" and they were all very immature...

" And there is also the fact that the aliens were ordered to kill the BK near the end of the anime"
but this is true right? Man writing the orgin of deep blue might be kinda hard..
I changed it to "paddy" because it saw an italian site that said it is paddy. It is the same site that says the title translates to "winning friends", so i was thinking "ok, it tey translated the title right, then "paddy" cant be wrong". And I've seen 3 sites that say her name is "paddy", with anime news network being one of them. There a reliable site.

I was thinking that mew mew power and the italian version could be moved to a different article, then stuff from the other versions could be added also. Yeah. I think I'll do that.
"THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" 22:26, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
What would be a good title for the article about the other versions of the anime? I was thinking "International Versions of Tokyopop (anime)" since if I can get info about the spanish version, portugese version n such, but I'm not sure...hm..
"THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" 05:01, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
I think I'll name it "Internation Adaptations". after looking at the sailor moon article, it says "English Adaptations". So I came up with that title.
"However, Project WikiMoon does have a section about "Sailor Moon" in other countries. Moreover, each dubbed version has a separate page with a detailed description of the alterations. In our case, all stuff can be placed on the same page."
After just putting the other version of YMM in to the International article, then we can expand on them and have separtate article, Of course, this is a while from now.
I also think the TE section will need its own article soon, to keep vandals away, and to exspand on it. This is when i really dislike the original research rule...the fans who know "Japanese" clearly don't. I mean, you learned from animes which is usually called the not the greatest way to learn japanese, and yet you still saw many errors they never saw. That says quite alot about the nay-sayers...
I not enitrely sure how to archieve a talk page. I can try, but if I feel I'll screw somthing up, I'll have to ask someone to archieve it.

Reply to that on my talk page
- Reply to my talk page entry: Hi Yume no Kishi. I don't really want to have to call you by your long name. Anyway, yeah, there may be problems with something I admit to liking, even 5 years after its original release and 2 years after its "kill edit" came out. And I'm unsure if I can find anything related to support the subject of the matter. And if I catch vandals nowadays, I just throw them with rather than "test" because I have a zero-tolerance policy on vandalism. Hi again Yume no Kishi (I do not want to call you by your long name). Uh yeah, I'd like to redirect you back to my talk page and looking at the section named "ALERT!", from when some wubbzy vandal kept throwing junk all over the place. And yeah, he kept specializing in those. Don't ask. And if you don't want to look, let me tell you: You can warn the vandals/groups using one of the many messages at WP:UTM, and if they continue past the #4 warning, report them to WP:AIV with a reason, and, if possible, a recommended link to the last edit that got reverted or something. Though I highly doubt they'd block the vandals just by trying to remove a potentially important section. We'll see. --You were supposed to look at this, and I need your attention, Addict 2006 05:57, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, I re-read your thing. Yeah, apparently, I doubt there's any proof out there on the Internet (just as how there's rarely any episode of anime that got copyrighted). The darned section is still counted under original research and so it's kinda hard if people are reluctant to provide even more info and stuff. --Kinda better, Addict 2006 06:00, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, looking at WP:NOR, I'd say the section does fit under some of these criteria. We're definitely gonna have to use The Force on the people (not literally) to coax info and say that we find their lack of faith disturbing. Anyway, here goes. The ones in bold are the criteria that apparently fit...:
- It introduces a theory or method of solution;
- It introduces original ideas;
- It defines new terms;
- It provides or presumes new definitions of pre-existing terms;
- It introduces an argument, without citing a reputable source for that argument, that purports to refute or support another idea, theory, argument, or position;
- It introduces an analysis or synthesis of established facts, ideas, opinions, or arguments in a way that builds a particular case favored by the editor, without attributing that analysis or synthesis to a reputable source;
- It introduces or uses neologisms, without attributing the neologism to a reputable source.
And my made-up-word for "bubbobs" fits the last one but I never posted it anywhere. Hey, I'm trying to be on your side, but my alignment is undecided. We didn't want to be put in this situation.

I havent seen Mew Mew Power either, and since 4kids really has taken down the videos on Youtube I dont know I'll be able to add the info. If you take the screen shots, I'll be able to upload the pics for you, and give you credit.
Speking of pics, some of the sections in the TE section in the main article still need pics. Like I think I need a pic showing that in the Japanese manga, Ichigo is always 11, and pic of something of Tokyo Mew Mew showing animal being written as アニマル. Those are the only 2 pics need for the TE section.
I'll send your wallpaper the next time he e-mails me. I bet he will like it!

Yea that pic will work. I have a pic of a page of the manga showing アニマ so the Anima section is now done.

Ichigo's age
I'm not arguing what Ichigo's age is, I'm arguing that it's the wrong place to argue about her age. There is a much more in depth bit on her personal profile page.
FYI, Japan has a different grade structure to the US. 中学校 (Japanese Middle School) start at grade 7 (12 years old). However, if the translation that you read uses the US system, middle school starts at grade 6 (11 years old).
perfectblue 19:54, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
You're not reading what I'm writing. This is belongs else where.
perfectblue 20:05, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
You're still not reading what I'm writing. I'm not arguing about her age, that could just as easily be a mistake at the time of writing, I'm arguing about the appropriateness of including the debate about her age in any section other than her personal profile.
I'm not American so I've never even seen the fan-sub. I saw it in Mandarin Chinese with Simplified Chinese sub titles. As far as I can remember, the Chinese is the same the Tokyopop translation.
perfectblue 21:20, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
I'm still concerned that this violates WP:OR. You can get away with WP:OR violation quite easily on a character page because character profiles is 70% observation and supposition based on series cannon. However, you can't get away with nearly so much on a main page particularly when it's not actually clear whether we're talking about a translation error, a localization error (eg changing her between a grade 6 start middle school and grade 7 start middle school but getting things the wrong way round), or a conscious effort such changing her age to appeal to a younger audience (purposeful changing a characters age has been done before, just look at Digimon tamers).
I'm more concerned about the quality of the page than how old she is. It's Zorro V Zolo all over again.
perfectblue 07:57, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Once again I will state I DON'T CARE that her age and grade don't match between fact/fiction/different versions of the franchise. It's obvious and I'm not debating things. What is not obvious is whether this was accidental (X years age > X years school, Juuichi/chuuichi etc) or deliberate (making her younger to appeal to a younger audience, etc).
This however is distracting from my primary (and only) point in relation to the actual text on the page, which is "this belongs on the character page, where WP:OR is somewhat acceptable, not on the main page, where WP:OR is not acceptable".
Please stop bringing up why her either her age or her grade are wrong, and accept that I simply don't believe that the text (regardless of its conclusion) is in the right place.
perfectblue 10:17, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
I wasn't attempting to justify Ichigo's age, I merely collected the most important parts of the the data given on the page into a bulleted list to show what the points of the argument where. Hence my including conflicting information. I say again, I'm not bothered about the argument, only that it is the wrong place.
Besides, it's irrelevant because of the unwritten rules of localized cannon. If one version says one thing and another says another thing, then she is both because each version is now cannon for the country. This applies regardless of whether it is nonsensical. For example, Zoe is Ichigo, but is also 16 when Ichigo isn't.
It is also wrong to refer to this as a mistake, as we don't know if it was done on purpose. I brought my copy of the Manga in Shanghai, and it saws exactly the same as your US copy and, too my knowledge, no later version of volume one has ever said reversed juuichi - chuuichi.
It'd be much simpler if I could get a look at volume one in Japanese, but I'm not in Japan right now, and don't have a local foreign language book store to look in either. If you can scare one up it'd be easier. Don't rely on fansubs. remember "Gai super upper" V "Gai super napalm"?
perfectblue 11:38, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
For the last time, I'm not arguing that she is 11. I'm arguing that this should be discussed as an Ichigo issue, not as TMM/TP issue.
Equally (regardless of what her age actually is and whether it is a mistake or not), it is misleading to use the ages of the other characters as a guide on the page. For example, Lettuce is 遅生まれ so there is nearly a year's biological difference between Ichigo and Lettuce's ages.
Ichigo's birthday is in mid March, just before the grade cutoff date. lettuce's birthday is in late April just after the cutoff date. This means that if they were born in the same year, Ichigo would be one grade different from Lettuce. If either were born a couple of weeks earlier/later, they would have been in different grades entirely.
TMM - WP:OR
This is simple and self explanatory, and there isn't much any debate to be had.
Whoever wrote the section reached their own conclusion without relying on external source material. This violates WP:OR.
WP:OR is partially permitted on pages that are essentially "observations based on franchise cannon" (eg episode guides, profiles of fictional characters, descriptions of fictional technology etc where what you have is in the eyes of the beholder), but is not permitted on this kind of page.
It doesn't matter whether those conclusions are right or wrong, or how solid the argument is, what matters is that the only conclusions reached should citable and should originate from external sources. I am also particularly concerned by the fact that the word "mistake" was used so prominently. At most you should say that TP is "different" from the original. At no time should it even be hinted at that it was any "lapse of competence" unless there is a WP:RS source behind it.
Does this clear things up?
On a side note, I've never read the manga in Japanese (90% of my TMM experience is Chinese). Does anybody know for certain that the Japanese manga and Japanese Anime agree on her age/grade. So far, all that's been done her is compare the English manga to the Japanese Anime. For all I know, TP might have literally translates the Japanese Manga, including a mistake that it made, or the Anime crew might have changes her details to suit their needs. Just a thought.

Minor characters response
I did this to make it known on the Tokyo Mew Mew characters template page. I told angelofdeath275 this prior to making it. If you wanted to add the information from the list on your user page, you must add the info there and remove if from your user page. Rtkat3 (talk) 10:53, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
I tend to spell MewMew like so
--Thinks this is enough of a message, Addict 2006 00:25, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
A clip
What "literal" translation would you give this?
perfectblue 14:55, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Highly unverified info about MewMew
I was just looking around stuff. Don't ask.
Anyway, someone on a 4Kids TV forum stated that MewMew Power (again, I tend to spell it like so) would return on April 27.[citation needed] However, there is no citation anywhere. (Highly typical for a forum of this sort.) I gotta look into this. And there's no cause for an ^_^ type emoticon yet. It needs to be verified![verification needed] --Very skeptical, Addict 2006 16:17, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Uh yeah it does play over on YTV but this week, they're having Valentine's day specials, so they block it off for the week. And it only plays at that one time over on Sundays at 8 AM where I am, along with Winx Club. --Addict 2006 01:26, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Computer Issues
I'm having computer issues so I wont be able to edit on wikpedia so swiftly....I'll try to explain to that person "THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" 20:32, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Didn't perfect blue say something how he wasn't debating over Ichigo's age? Well, he is on the talk page of TMM....oh yeah. Ian Miller wants to know how you want to me credit for the "reborn" thing.
"THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" 21:22, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Ian Miller is now done with the review. He now needs how you want to be credited as. "THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" 00:29, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
TM Original
We could really really do with some confirmation that the details in TP are actually different from Nakayoshi, how silly will everybody look if somebody comes up with a scan of the original TMM Manga some time in the future and it is identical to TP, age/grade and all. Meaning that the "Mistake" wsa at the source, not in the translation.
perfectblue 13:01, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
- Don't worry about the translation, I can do it, and there are plenty of other wikipedians who are either native Japanese speakers or Japanese American who can give you a second opinion if you don't want to take my word for it. Just so long as it hasn't been photo shopped first.
- You never know, it could prove conclusively that TP really did deliberately/accidentally change things, or it might prove that it was a typo by Nakayoshi that was never corrected. It wouldn't be the first time that a mistake has been literally translated.
Off topic
It's true, he does say "Go Parasite Alien" (In Engrish, too) just after teasig Ihigo in the zoo, I'd not noticed that it disagreed on the page and the page needs modifying to reflect this. However, I don't think that it was meant as a proper noun. He refers to them as being parasite aliens, as a description rather than an their actual name.
You'll have to excuse me for my rusty knowledge of the names and terms. My TMM exposure is mostly Chinese, not Japanese so what they say is slightly different.

Hello????
-- Put simply that, Addict 2006 06:45, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- What do you mean awful? I mean, it works! Mine's even MORE cluttered with Interests and stuff. You should look there. (Strong Bad voice) I mean, I watched it. --Addict 2006 06:52, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Pictures
(Strong Bad voice again) Minor character pictures, eh Yume? (normal voice) Well, I'd ask you to go to the Wikipedia:Picture tutorial but it appears to be long. Hey, I've even tried to source some Fruits Basket character pictures, but mainly, the tv-screenshot is often there. Anyway, I guess it could be possible. However, they oughta be low-resolution, otherwise they may not be allowed. Although I would ask that the thumbnails are used instead. And well, something could be stated in the upload box like:
(Character's name withOUT link because there wouldn't be articles on them), from Tokyo Mew Mew
...And choose TV screenshot or something out of the drop-down box list. Now if you'll excuse me, I got a music video to work on from stuff from this other anime... --Conflicted between stuff and stuff, Addict 2006 07:16, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
A certain userbox
I kinda made this one, though it's on one aspect of liking MewMew more than the Bleach anime. You don't have to use it, though it appears you like MewMew more than Bleach so... Yeah. --Addict 2006 05:09, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Yes I am reading what you read, but like a day or more later. Since I'm now on temporary computer, my editing is kinda hindered.
Alexa.com shows the main article of Tokyo Mew Mew is the only one that ever really gets looked at. So, I'm not sure if redirecting the "reborn" section would really do anything in the long run, so it never crossed my mind to redirect it. who labeled it as POV???! I dont see any POV. Sometimes I fell like they just the whole section out and trying to find issues with it or something. It pisses me off. "THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" 22:10, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
one more thing: since I'm on a temporary computer, I can't upload pics. Probaly by the end of this week I'll get my own computer back, and will be able to uplaod pics again.
Man, cant the pics count as a reference? I could get a pic of Ikumi saying the weapons are suppsoed to be funny, Ichigo's and Mint's weapons showing it was rominized, Zakuro's many mistranslations. "THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" 22:46, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
