Hurricane articles

[edit]

Hi there! I saw you editing some tropical cyclone articles. If you'd like, there is a whole community of editors for weather-related articles. Check it out here! There's lots of projects that need work, from minor edits to major rewriting. Let me know if you have any questions on here. Cheers! ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 19:18, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Track maps

[edit]

Hey there YourGeneric. I like that you're helping with the track maps, but when you're uploading them, please double check the categories, and if they're correct. The images for Isidore and Lili in 2002 both have the year as 2004. Also, you don't need to add new categories, like Category:Hurricane Isidore 2004 when there is already a category there for Hurricane Isidore. Lastly, whenever possible, you should upload the images with the new colors and label it whatever is the current name for the path. That way you won't have to change every image link, instead it retains the file history. Does all of that make sense? I appreciate your enthusiasm and energy toward uploading all of these track maps, and if you plan on continuing this, then I hope you don't mind doing these changes. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 21:50, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

whoops sorry for the error YourGeneric (talk) 00:09, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also i cant overwrite the current pre-2022 colors as i would need the owner for each one to update the description for them YourGeneric (talk) 00:10, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That would be a whole sperate process. YourGeneric (talk) 00:10, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Hurricanehink: We have to change image links since it would be against commons policy to overwrite the existing images with the new colors. They have to be uploaded as entirely different images. Noah, AATalk 17:25, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oops my mistake! ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:50, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That is what i did. YourGeneric (talk) 01:05, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

TD colors

[edit]

Hello, I have noticed your recent efforts in recoloring the track maps and I appreciate your work. However, I have seen that some of the tropical depression colors were in the old color scheme; your TD colors are #5ebaff, while the correct color per Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Weather/Colour discussions is #6ec1ea. This is evident in the old revisions of Gonzalo 2014 and Joaquin 2015's track maps, in which I have revised. Thank you! It would be greatly appreciated if your colors matched the template's colors. 2003LN6 17:42, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing that out! I'll make sure i will fix that issue once i upload more tracks. YourGeneric (talk) 19:55, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! I am sending this alert to all members of the WikiProject Weather and editors who have recently edited in the realm of tornadoes.

There is a large and important discussion ongoing, with the goal to completely overhaul and improve the List of F5 and EF5 tornadoes. The previous improvement attempt back in 2022/2023 gained almost no participation. This alert is being sent out so these discussions hopefully gain a reasonably-sized participation, so the F5/EF5 tornado article, one of the most viewed weather-related articles on Wikipedia, can be improved for all readers!

If you wish to participate, please visit: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Weather/Possible F5/EF5/IF5 tornadoes. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 17:31, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
