Regarding your link additions
[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 20:08, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Re your message: You were adding links where the link was not appropriate to the content of the article. Not being an advertisement is one of several reasons why a link is not appropriate, but not the only reason. The relevant guideline is at Wikipedia:External links. I do notice that you posted a message on the relevant Talk page, but since you did not receive any feedback, you did not gain a consensus on re-adding the link. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:48, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- Re your message: Your links were not appropriate to several of the articles (for example, North Pole, South Pole, Artic Circle, and International Date Line) because you they did not contribute substantially to the understanding of the topic that was not already covered in the article itself. As I said to you earlier, if you feel that the links should be added, I recommend that you leave a message on the respective talk pages and if other editors agree with the link addition and you reach a consensus, re-add the link. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:40, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
