Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, Yoddha108. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

- Hi Yodha108. You need to clarify whether you have any relation to Mithi Mukherjee since you're adding numerous citations to their papers. - Hi RegentsPark. Thanks for your note. I am new to editing on wikipedia. The few edits I have made so far included citations to peer reviewed articles and books that are considered important in the field of history. They are uncontroversial edits and are verifiable. I did include citations to Mithi Mukherjee's work in my first few edits, but am planning to add citations to other important historians in the field as well. I think you will agree that it is important to cite women scholars and underrepresented groups in wikipedia articles. My edits were intended to make wikipedia pages more up to date and inclusive with regard to scholarship, not to promote anyone. Nor are they paid for in any way. The articles I cited are in the most reputed History journals. The other minor edits were on grammar, spelling, and minor factual errors to improve the pages. I would be happy to take feedback on changes I intend to make in the future.
- Hi Yodha108. Thanks for the reply. I wasn't implying that you were paid to promote Mukherjee. Rather, one does get the impression that you have some sort of association with her. Which is fine but it needs to be declared per our WP:COI policies. --RegentsPark (comment) 18:27, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
