Hi. When you recently edited American Morning, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Miles O'Brien (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I almost declined the speedy deletion tag on this image, since you requested F1 speedy deletion because it's redundant to an SVG image, and the F1 criterion only applies when both images have the same extension. I ended up deleting it under the G7 criterion, which permits deletion of pages upon request by the author. This message is simply a request to you not to use {{db-f1}} when it doesn't apply, since it's easy for an admin to decline the deletion without noticing that the uploader had tagged it for deletion. Online Ambassador, Spring 2012

[edit]

Hi, Yk Yk Yk! As you may know, the Wikipedia Education Program has instilled a new set of standards that courses must meet to officially join the program for the semester. As you can see, one of the requirements is that at least one ambassador or professor is a Wikipedian, as this should give students more access to helpful information about contributing to Wikipedia and creating good content. You are listed on the Online Ambassador page; are you still interested in remaining active this semester? Some of these classes will have to remove themselves from the program should they fail to meet these standards, but we would like to ensure that new students are receiving proper support during the editing process. Please let me know if you are still interested in mentoring these students this semester and/or visit the Online Ambassador talk page to select a course that still needs an Online Ambassador. Thank you! JMathewson (WMF) (talk) 19:45, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am baffled regarding your edit. What is the rationale for deleting the information that people can watch videos of the show from the external link to her msnbc.com site? J JMesserly (talk) 19:18, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's best we call the official sites as they are named to avoid looking like a social media directory or fanpage. — Yk Yk Yk talk ~ contrib 22:22, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. Haven't heard that one in a while. I suppose to some, a few words to describe what is of value at the site is a slippery slope. As soon as you know, WP will turn into a huge web directory as was feared about a decade ago. No doubt you are quoting policy. Whatever- sounds pretty silly to me. J JMesserly (talk) 23:57, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just as you made the sarcastic reply above I changed the description according to your wording. You see, I don't get upset over minor details which I then use to prophesize the end of Wikipedia. I'm more concerned about the content of the article so you can have this one. — Yk Yk Yk talk ~ contrib 00:00, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And no, I didn't pull the social media directory BS out of thin air: read WP:FACEBOOK. — Yk Yk Yk talk ~ contrib 00:04, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I noticed this edit of yours. I don't believe Mohamad Noah Omar was born in 1865. Do you have a source for this? I found an obituary that says he died at the age of 94 in September 1991 (making his birth year 1897 or 1898). The article previously said 1898 before being changed by you to 1865. A life span of 1865 to 1991 indicates that he lived for 126 years, which is quite difficult to believe. Can you take a look at this, please? --MZMcBride (talk) 15:47, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The 1865 birthdate was taken from the source cited at the end of the paragraph (I accessed it through LexisNexis). But you're right, it doesn't seem to make sense. — Yk Yk Yk talk ~ contrib 18:29, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

tv show title card

[edit]

I saw an article where you replaced a TV show logo with one that does not feature the Host's likeness as is standard practice by that network. I don't really care, but I selected logos as I understood was standard WP practice. EG File:RachelMaddowShow.jpg or File:The-last-word-with-lawrence-odonnell-0.jpg The logo I uploaded or variations of it is the one you see associated with the show. Anyway, rationale is on the talk page, and if your disagree, maybe we should discuss there. Talk:Melissa Harris-Perry (TV program) J JMesserly (talk) 08:28, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:The Newsroom HBO.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:The Newsroom HBO.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Meet-up: Editors from Malaysia

[edit]

Hello! You might or might not have seen me around here as I've not been active in Wikipedia the past few months. Before leaving for NS, it was my intention to form a Malaysian user group. I'm still very much interested in forming the group. However, before forming the group, I would love to organize a meet-up between editors of the Malaysian editing community to test the waters and hear what you guys might have to say. To my knowledge, there has not been a Wikipedia meet-up in this country before. I don't mind organizing the meet-up but need to know if anyone is interested in joining the meet-up. So... please reply and let me know if you would be interested in joining a meet-up and your ideas/thoughts about a user group. Thank you.

Looking forward to hearing from you, Bejinhantalks 12:31, 15 December 2012 (UTC) (Message delivered by EdwardsBot (talk) 12:31, 15 December 2012 (UTC))[reply]
