Case Closed

Hello, you restored the section on the Cased Closed article which I removed. The first paragraph contains non-relevant historical commentary and subjective comments sourced from an undergraduate thesis. The second paragraph does not accurately represent the source it uses. "Using chopsticks" can not be considered cultural commentary. The third paragraph makes claims on music that are not supported by the pages it links to. I can not find a way to access the source but if relevant, I propose citing to it on the linked pages as well. The final paragraph comments on the setting by directly referencing episodes of the show. If included, this same paragraph would have to be included for most anime shows. The final line might be better suited to the 'Plot' section.

All in all, I do not think any part of this section was relevant or well-written but if you disagree, I would be more than happy to make a topic on the talk page for other editors to review. Thank you! Rspln (talk) 05:03, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

@Rspln: I see. Honestly, I didn't do a thorough reading of the section, but at first glance, it seemed good to me. Anyway, I think that, just in case, it would be better to make a topic on the talk page, whether to discuss improvements with other editors or directly removing the entire section. For my part, considering your arguments now, I have no major issues with removing it. Cheers. Xexerss (talk) 05:16, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
I totally understand. In this case, I assumed my reasoning would be self-evident but in the future I'll post on the talk page. Thank you! Rspln (talk) 05:23, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

GNR citations

Hey, I saw you removed the spaces after the commas in non-sequential multi-chapter citations at List of Rurouni Kenshin characters. I think I saw you (maybe it was someone else) do this once before somewhere so I just wanted to point out that the example at Template:Gnn includes a space after the comma, which definitely looks better to me. Xfansd (talk) 22:42, 4 August 2023 (UTC)

@Xfansd: I'm sorry, that was my bad. I accidentally changed that while I tried to make another edit. I've already fixed it. Xexerss (talk) 10:56, 5 August 2023 (UTC)

Information licensed anime Ragna Crimson

Hi, If there have been recent updates or new information regarding the licensing of the Ragna Crimson anime, I wouldn't be aware of it. Please refer to official sources and websites of the licensing companies for the most up-to-date and accurate information. Another new article to create for you

Hi @Xexerss, there is another new article to create about a boys' love manga series by Jyanome serialized in Kodansha's Honey Milk digital boys' love magazine since 2019 with a recently announced TV anime adaptation, can you create it? It's Twilight Out of Focus.

Thanks. Tebus19 (talk) 16:14, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

@Tebus19: I'll try to create it this weekend. Xexerss (talk) 16:15, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: I'm sorry, but I just made the article without knowing about your conversation. SimonLagann (talk) 14:20, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
@SimonLagann: No problem at all, quite the opposite, thanks for creating it sooner than later. Xexerss (talk) 14:23, 6 July 2023 (UTC)

Another new article to create for you

Hi @Xexerss, there is another new article to create about a baseball manga series by Eijuu Takashima serialized in Bessatsu Shōnen Champion magazine, can you create it? It's Quattro Battery.

Thanks. Tebus19 (talk) 07:07, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

@Tebus19: I cannot find enough coverage about it at the moment. Xexerss (talk) 07:52, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

Works of Tetsuya Tsutsui

I just created an article for Tetsuya Tsutsui, although many of his works do not have an article in English. Pretty much all of his works are licensed in French and have extensive reviews from Manga News. Plus, his Noise manga has a live-action film adaptation and his Yūgai Toshi manga won multiple awards. If you get a chance, could you create articles for some of his manga that don't already have one? Thanks. Link20XX (talk) 16:33, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

@Link20XX: Sure, I'll try to create them soon, maybe by this weekend. Cheers. Xexerss (talk) 17:23, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War

I am very sorry to have undone what was probably alot of time and editing, but you divided the Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War series into "seasons" without little to no citation evidence proving these are actually seasons. In fact, nearly all official citations refers to them as "parts" or "cours". GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 19:03, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

@GalaxyFighter55: As I explained on the List of Bleach episodes article, there were issues due to the size of the article, that's why I did the move. As for calling it "season" instead of "cour", on Amazon, for example it is referred to such https://www.primevideo.com/detail/0TSM51XHC0COY47WKLNH4J42XE also per WP:COMMONAME Xexerss (talk) 19:08, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
@GalaxyFighter55: In fact, see the article as it is right now that you undone my edits and you will see what I was talking about. Xexerss (talk) 19:09, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
You cannot use common name argument when it comes to episode divisions, that's not how that WP is supposed to be used. And your case is only an Amazon page. That leads to a whole different category of arguements.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 19:11, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
Additionally, List of Naruto: Shippuden episodes is 500 episodes long, far longer than Bleach's. There's no reason to divide the page, the byte size is not even over 100,000.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 19:13, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
@GalaxyFighter55: Sorry, but are you seeing the List of Bleach episodes article right now? the bottom of the article or the message "Warning: Post-expand include size is too large. Some templates will not be included." when you preview the article? Xexerss (talk) 19:15, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: If Shippuden's page is longer and can withstand that load, then clearly it is not a page size issue. I'll investigate the matter when I can.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 19:17, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
@GalaxyFighter55: I don't mind if we just include all the episodes in a single article instead of considering each cour as a season but we should make a split. Xexerss (talk) 19:20, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: Please just give me under 24 hours and I will investigate the template problem. It will be top editing priority to me when I have time to work on it. We can make a 418 episode article work, trust me.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 19:22, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: I noticed the error break has something to do with the TYBW episode list invoke on the main episode list page, but the problem is most definitely not the size. When I get off work, I will experiment in sandbox to figure out what exactly is causing it.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 21:02, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: UPDATE: As it turns out, it’s actually NOT TYBW's table invoke causing the problem, but rather the sheer number of template invokes on the article. Merging general and specific references into one single reference sheet should resolve the problem.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 21:49, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

"Nevermind, is still causes issues in the episode list article." Can you describe what problem it caused on the episode list? Was it the same invoke error? I might be able to help.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 23:26, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

@GalaxyFighter55: Yes, same WP:PEIS issue as before for some reason. I have absolutely no idea how to fix it, so I'd appreciate it if you know something. Xexerss (talk) 23:33, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: I'll try my best but it is a pretty tricky issue to fix sometimes. If you could find a citation that provides all of the episode airdates instead of individually, that should help ease the load. It seems to have a lot to due with template invoking and references.
@GalaxyFighter55: I just added a single source, so the problem is solved now. Thank you anyways. Xexerss (talk) 00:02, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
@GalaxyFighter55: By the way, would you agree to use a key visual of the series instead of the cover of the first DVD release? per Template:Infobox television season:"A suitable image relevant to the season. The image does not need to be wikilinked and should exclude "File:" e.g. Example.png Typically the image will be the series' title card, although this is not mandated. Free content should be used where available." It doesn't stipulate to exclusively use home video release covers. I suppose that the article currently has one because the articles of the other Bleach seasons also have DVD covers, but considering that our article will cover the entire series, counting the entire TYBW as a season, and not just the first cour, I think that a key visual would be more suitable. The first one, which I uploaded before, seems fine to me; an image featuring the main characters and main antagonist of the "season" or "story arc" conveys way better its content than a cover with text only. It also matches the title of the article (without the subtitles of each cour). I know that this is kinda subjective, but we could discuss it on the talk page as well if you disagree. Xexerss (talk) 05:05, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: I suppose we can do that considering the home media cover is only some basic text imagery; I only replaced it because that's the standard for many season pages, but there's nothing saying it must be that, especially if the home media cover doesn't do a good job at conveying any characters or events. And I do agree with you on the visual representation aspect, so you can go ahead and do that. I would not revert such an action. Oh, and full disclosure if it even matters, but The Blood Warfare is Japan's English translation of its Japanese title for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, localizers came up with the later English title for some reason.
On a related article note, I must add that on the Bleach TYBW anime website's official website under home media page these parts are explicitly titled "cours" [ 第1クール, Dai 1 kūru ]. If they were individual seasons, it would be titled "phase" [ 第1期, Dai 1-ki ], which the JP equivalent to a season. And the official website is pretty much as reliable as a citation can get, so we can put that aspect at rest.GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 08:42, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
@GalaxyFighter55: Alright then, I'll go ahead and change the image. Thanks for the information regarding cours. I know that they're not actual seasons, I just assumed that, in case of making split, calling it "seasons" instead of "cours" would be preferred per WP:NCTV, considering the titles of the articles from Category:Anime film and television articles using incorrect naming style or something similar. Anyway, since there's no reason to make a split, this doesn't matter anymore. Xexerss (talk) 09:01, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: I understand what you mean, it's just that the naming convention would have brought us down a rabbit hole as actual seasons also use the cours convention for split parts. But regardless, a 52 episode single article is manageable anyways, especially now that we resolved the invoke issue on the list page. I'll be out for a little while now, so it was nice consulting!--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 09:07, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

Power

By any chance have you read the Chainsaw Man light novel? According to a review I found, Power has a major role in one chapter so adding that role to the appearances section might solidify the article's size far and maybe remove that tag. Tintor2 (talk) 18:12, 28 July 2023 (UTC)

@Tintor2: Nope, I haven't read it, but yeah, I think that adding content about it would be an improvement to the article. Xexerss (talk) 20:34, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
About Rurouni Kenshin, do you think the main image from the infobox should be replaced. I'm kinda not sure with the view of closed eyes but I don't know exactly if the first volume is okay if we use the English version. If you ask ne, I kinda like the this Japanese version of the first volume since it shows the two leads with the eyes shown as well as Kenshin's sword which is absent in the final one. The Kanzenban images are nice too but they only show one character per cover. Any suggestion?Tintor2 (talk) 21:57, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
@Tintor2: First edition covers are preferred by WP:BOOKS. Personally, the current image is fine to me, but I understand your concern. There is also a vertical version of the first volume [1] (instead of the original horizontal one used in the List of Rurouni Kenshin chapters article), but I'm not sure; this version also lacks the "Jump Comics" imprint logo. This may worth discussion on the talk page. Xexerss (talk) 22:18, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
By the way, the 18th Kazenban of Yugioh seems to be doing a much better job at showing all main characters from the series than the current one. Sadly, the quality I found seem really bad.Tintor2 (talk) 00:08, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
I see, but regardless of that, I think that it's better to use images from the first edition, in this case, the 38-volume tankōbon edition. Xexerss (talk) 05:28, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
I mean for the character list Tintor2 (talk) 05:49, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
Oops, sorry, I misunderstood. I'll see I can find a clean version of that cover. Xexerss (talk) 05:56, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
I've changed the image. It may need a more detailed caption though, specifying the name of each character. Xexerss (talk) 06:26, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

Thanks. I know the characters but I'm kinda worried if the size is enough to recognize them.Tintor2 (talk) 17:12, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

@Tintor2: I had to resize the image to the maximum allowable with this tool [2], otherwise a bot would have automatically resized it anyway. Xexerss (talk) 21:03, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
I'm not sure if there is a Shaman King artbook but that final volume seems fitting for the character list should there be an image without such extra notes. Then again, due to the change of publisher it might be really difficult to find.Tintor2 (talk) 00:17, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

JPG and PNG file replacement

Please keep in mind that there is not necessary to replace .jpg files with .png files of the same exact image if the existing .jpg is already upscaled to good or great quality, as you did here & here. It's a waste of time that you could be putting elsewhere; .jpgs can always be upscaled to 100% if you want a better image that still exists as you can see when you replaced it on the original file, and they can help reduce KB size while also having nearly the same quality as a .png. GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 09:46, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

What I'm getting at is, .jpgs are not the enemy. They don't need to be replaced by .pngs just because that file type is synonymous with great quality. If you see an existing file with a .jpg and the image is not in visually poor quality, there's no reason you should be replacing it with the same image but in .png is all.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 09:55, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

@GalaxyFighter55: The reason why I'm doing that is because I can see the artifacts just seeing the article at first glance (and I'm sure that is not just my case). When it is in .jpg, the image's quality only improves after I click on it and I reload the page, no matter how good the quality of the .jpg archive actually is. The difference in size between both is not abysmal to notoriously affect the overall size of the article, but if you can show me a MOS stating that this is wrong, I will stop doing it. By the way, the current "Post-expand include size" of the Hantsu × Trash article is at 170,771/2,097,152 bytes, so I don't think the size of the image is really a concern right now. Xexerss (talk) 21:45, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: I’ve literally never had that problem with .jpgs the entire 11 years I’ve been here. And yes, you’re right there is no MOS that I’m aware of and I can’t force you to stop it, I just personally feel it’s a waste of time and it was more so advice I was I giving you, hence why I made no move to revert it. I was just using the images as an example since I’ve seen you do it a couple of times to seemingly good quality jpgs.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 01:06, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
@GalaxyFighter55: I understand, but as I explained before, I'm not simply doing it without any reason, so to me is not a waste of time. It's not something of the utmost importance anyway, and I'm not planning on replacing every .jpg to .png, I'm just doing it when I perceive that the image just looks bad. Xexerss (talk) 01:20, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: Alright then, you seem to understand the gist of it atleast. I’ll run into you later I guess, toodles.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 01:47, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Xexerss, I recently created and expanded this article. Can you review it? Since I am not a native English speaker, it would be great if you could help me with this. Thanks in advance. M.A.LasTroniN910 (talk) 04:30, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

@M.A.LasTroniN910: I just made some minor corrections. I didn't check it out in detail, but it does look overall fine to me. I'm not familiar with Chinese sources though, so you may ask someone with more knowledge about manhua and donghua articles. Xexerss (talk) 07:26, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

I've been trying to expand this old article since the Japanese version was filled with sources. However, I'm kinda confused with the infobox. The movie was based on a novel the director wrote and it inspired several works and apparently that's why the infobox places emphasis on the material in general rather than the film itself. Should I revise it to focus more on the film? Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 22:27, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

@Tintor2: I think so. The content seems to be more about the film than the original work or the other adaptations. Xexerss (talk) 22:32, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

By the way, by any chance have you seen the final volume of Shaman King but without the logo? Might fit too for the character list. Couldn't find any artbook.Tintor2 (talk) 00:44, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

@Tintor2: Nope. I tried to search it, but couldn't find anything yet. I know that there must be a clear version somewhere. Xexerss (talk) 00:48, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Why is runtime not allowed

Hi @Xexerss, sorry for disturbing you, but would it be possible to explain to me why runtime doesn't apply to TV series, when the checkbox exists for it? Also if I add it directly in the text instead, while referring it to this source: https://anilist.co/anime/4081/Natsumes-Book-of-Friends/, would that be alright to do?

Thanks!

Gina Blix (talk) 08:49, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

@Gina Blix: Did you even check the infobox when you added that parameter? because Template:Infobox animanga doesn't include the runtime parameter for tv series and of course it won't be shown after the edit. Xexerss (talk) 08:52, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
I did actually, but I guess I didn't realize it meant that it was already set in stone, so my bad. Thanks for your reply :) Gina Blix (talk) 09:02, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Distinguishing between seasons

The eminence in shadow is getting a 2nd season premiering on October 4th. Can I add a table for that below the first 20 episodes? And should I distinguish them? VizDsouz (talk) 10:37, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

New article to create for you

Hi again Xexerss, there is a new article to create about a popular webtoon series by sing N song and illustrated by Sleepy-C, serialized in Naver Webtoon, A film adaptation has also been announced, There is a Korean and Chinese wiki [3] for this work, can you create it? [4]

Thanks

I can't find enough coverage for the series at the moment. Maybe another time. Xexerss (talk) 06:15, 28 May 2023 (UTC)

You like creating articles? Masakazu Ishiguro might be in need of one and when Heavenly Delusion was expanded, I remember finding sources involving his life such as the themes he wants to tell the audience, how he believes the movie heavily influenced his style of writing, etc. By the way, I was curious. Do you think Thorfinn (Vinland Saga) needs other corrections besides the prose before nominating it to GA. I was kinda worried about the length the analysis of his characterization.Tintor2 (talk) 23:59, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

@Tintor2: I have some experience in creating manga author articles, like the ones of Tatsuki Fujimoto and Koyoharu Gotouge, so I suppose that I could create an article of Ishiguro, not sure if I can immediately, but I will try soon. Regarding the Thorfinn article, I haven't read it thoroughly, but it looks pretty good to me overall. You could ask for some copyediting just in case. Cheers. Xexerss (talk) 00:14, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

New article to create for you

Hi @Xexerss:, there is a new article to create about a popular chinese manhua by Xu Xianzhe that has received recognition in Japan, serialized in Manga DX [5][6]

Blades of the Guardians has received an anime series and is airing from June 1, can you create it? M.A.LasTroniN910 (talk) 04:56, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

@M.A.LasTroniN910: I'll try to create it this weekend. I have no experience making articles of Chinese titles though, so you could try asking someone else before. Xexerss (talk) 16:12, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
Forgive me for my impatience but have you started creating Blades of the Guardians article? M.A.LasTroniN910 (talk) 16:13, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
@M.A.LasTroniN910: Not yet. I said that I'll try to create it this weekend. Xexerss (talk) 17:08, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
@M.A.LasTroniN910: I tried to look for more sources than those three, but I couldn't find much more. Sorry, but it would take me too much time to figure out how to structure the article and look for other sources that could be helpful. Manhua and manhwa are alien to me, to be honest. Best thing I can suggest is that you could try to create the article yourself, see some articles from Category:Chinese animated television series and shape it based on one from that category. Cheers. Xexerss (talk) 19:49, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: Thank you for your reply, I will try to create it.
M.A.LasTroniN910 (talk) 03:32, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: I created the article, I would greatly appreciate it If you take a look at it. Thanks in advance. M.A.LasTroniN910 (talk) 07:16, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

New article to create for you

Hi @Xexerss, there is a new article to create about a manga series by Yūgo Kobayashi serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Magazine magazine since September 2018 with a recently announced TV drama adaptation, can you create it? It's Fermat no Ryōri.

New article to create for you

Hi @Xexerss, there is a new article to create about a manga series by Fujimoto, Sakura serialized in Square Enix's Monthly GFantasy magazine since November 2018, can you create it? It's Miyabichi no Onmyouji. M.A.LasTroniN910 (talk) 17:29, 13 August 2023 (UTC)

I cannot find enough coverage at the moment. Xexerss (talk) 19:04, 13 August 2023 (UTC)

New article to create for you

Hi @Xexerss, there is a historical/samurai article to create about a manga series by Hiramatsu, Minoru serialized in Shogakukan's Monthly Shōnen Sunday magazine since June 2009, can you create it? It's Asagiro. M.A.LasTroniN910t@lk 03:23, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

@M.A.LasTroniN910: That article was created before; however, it was deemed as not notable and moved to draft space. I personally tried to improve that draft, but it was rejected anyway and deleted. Not sure, but I don't think that the series has gained more notability since then. Xexerss (talk) 11:35, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

MDY Dates MOS

Could you provide the MOS that states that? Thanks. GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 00:59, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Oh and, if it came across as rude I'm sorry. Not my intention at all, I just genuinely want to see it for future reference purposes during editing.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 01:13, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

@GalaxyFighter55: Not specifically for anime TV series, but for manga at least Template:Infobox animanga indicates that "first" and "last" parameters require to include "month and year at a minimum". I don't know why this should not be applied to anime series too, but it's the standard for series that last less than one year, e.g. Noitamina series. On the other hand, I don't tend to see articles with "first" and "last" parameters only including month and day, I honestly don't know if it's wrong, but may worth a discussion at the Template:Infobox animanga's talk page. Xexerss (talk) 01:14, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
That is quite strange. I've seen a lot of other non-animanga articles that uses that date span method without repeating the same year twice. Perhaps I will start up a discussion whenever I get around to such a thing.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 01:16, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
@GalaxyFighter55: With Template:Infobox television, the year is automatically omitted when the series starts and ends in the same year, like Bordertown (with both "first_aired" and "last_aired" parameters including full dates). For some reason, Template:Infobox animanga doesn't do that, so, for now at least, I think that it's better to just keep using full dates in both parameters, regardless of anything. Xexerss (talk) 01:44, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
In that case, it's definitely worth a talk page discussion in the near future to see if we should apply the same standards to the template as well. But for now, we keep as is I suppose.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 03:14, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Naruto (TV series)

Thanks for the review! Honestly I was surprised that the Naruto anime itself wasn't its own article by now, especially when manga like Attack on Titan (TV series), Vinland Saga (TV series) & Spy × Family (TV series) have them with much less content of the manga / anime to spread over in comparison review. This was a long overdue split, so I took the liberty of drafting a split up over in sandbox yesterday. GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 04:56, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

@GalaxyFighter55: Thanks to you as well for making making the split. On that note, I have been wondering for some time if the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba article needs a split as well. I thought the same about Jujutsu Kaisen, but is not that large as the KnY article right now. Xexerss (talk) 05:10, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Hmmm, I'll think about it when I have more time on my hands. The Naruto anime was simply top priority for me due to the content size. It came about as I was reading through the original article this week and realized that the manga and anime were simply too big and slushed together like some kind of jumbled-up soup to stay merged as one article any longer.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 05:39, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

MOS:ANIME

Could you provide some helpful input over at the talk page of MOS:ANIME? A user doesn't seem to grasp that the JP katakana of this anime is simply an alternative script for JP readers who can't read English and thus adding it over here on English WP is misleading readers into believing that is how it's supposed to be written in Japan. They believed I contradicted myself because I made an exempt example of Black Clover, which actually is supposed to be written in katakana as is. The exchange kind of got a little heated in a respectful way, but it looks like we're on a cool down so that is good.

We should really get this included someway onto the MOS as it seems like this might be a recurring problem. GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 19:28, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

@GalaxyFighter55: Sorry, I just read about this issue and saw the discussion on the talk page, is it already resolved or is the user still making those edits? Xexerss (talk) 22:02, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

Cobra release dates

Hello,

(I replied on my user talk page already but I'm not sure if you'll check, so maybe this is a better idea? I apologize if this is redundant / against the etiquette.)

Anyway, as I said: I spent a fair amount of time trying to confirm those release dates, so it's a bit disheartening to see them summarily reverted like this, I must say (especially considering the article didn't (and once again doesn't, since the revert) list a source for the cover dates either)...

I'm struggling to find (or rather, find again) a source for the first release date, but here's a picture for the second one: https://img.fril.jp/img/610909354/l/1935884581.jpg .

Also, "Kagerō Yama" Nobori no Maki (eventually included in volume 14 of the Jump Comics release) was the one episode that was published in Fresh Jump instead of Weekly Jump. April 1983 issue:https://www.suruga-ya.jp/database/pics_light/game/znawo24905.jpg

I was thinking of looking for the actual release dates for the sequels as well (and of correcting some of the many mistakes and omissions regarding those in the article), but to be entirely frank, I'm not sure if I should bother, at this point... Couldn't we work together to improve the article? 89.159.251.169 (talk) 20:07, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

The article currently has this citation with the cover dates from Media Arts Database.[7] It's not that I think that the publication in Fresh Jump is either true or false, it's just that it was never mentioned in the article and properly sourced to verify that information. I totally understand the necessity of using the actual accurate release dates instead of just the cover dates. I myself have been changing the cover dates for actual release dates whenever I'm able to find sources that can confirm those dates, but we always must take into account WP:TRUTH. Also, in the absence of actual release dates, many manga articles (especially the older ones) use the cover dates instead, so there is nothing inherently wrong with that. I'm assuming good faith in your edits, but we must work based on the reliable sources that we have available. Xexerss (talk) 21:53, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your time / reply.
It's not that I think that the publication in Fresh Jump is either true or false, it's just that it was never mentioned in the article and properly sourced to verify that information.
Unfortunately, as I said above, there would be a lot to fix in that article, really... A lot of information is weirdly missing, strangely phrased or simply inaccurate. For example, there were two Cobra one-shots before the series began proper, not just one, and they were published in 1978, not 1977 (a fair number of Japanese publications and even Terasawa's own official site got that wrong somehow), Time Drive wasn't a one-shot, Kokuryūō, Cobra Fukkatsu, Irezumi no San Shimai are mentioned in the "sequels and spin-offs" section despite being neither of those (whereas several actual sequels and side stories aren't mentioned at all), the term "kanzenban" is misused...
in the absence of actual release dates, many manga articles (especially the older ones) use the cover dates instead, so there is nothing inherently wrong with that.
I mean... I understand that it's common, but we do agree that it's not actually accurate, right? At least, not as it's currently worded in the article: "The manga was originally serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from November 1978 to November 1984". If we have to use the cover dates (arguably easier to confirm / source), shouldn't we put it like this instead: "the manga was originally serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from its November 6, 1978 issue to its November 12, 1984 one" (might be a bit awkward, sorry, English isn't my first language)? At least, that would be factual. 89.159.251.169 (talk) 23:17, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
In that case, it might be even better and simpler to just list the years in lead instead of a month and year, altought in case of using cover dates, I personally don't see major issues with treating cover dates as actual dates, just for practical reasons. However, it's something that can be discussed at WP:ANIME's talk page, but that may imply changing this practice in every other manga article that is already doing that (which are not a few). I obviously don't have problem with fixing inaccurate information, as long as those changes are properly referenced, justified, verified. I wish there was more detailed and accurate information about the series from part of the publishers, available and accessible to public, this would make things much easier. New pages patrol newsletter

Hello Xexerss,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Recent revision to Texhnolyze

Hi Xerxerss, you recently removed an edit I made to the Texhnolyze page. I don't have any desire to contest your edit, but I'm new to editing and would appreciate if you could explain why it wasn't appropriate so I can edit better in the future. Thanks! AScanner (talk) 23:48, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

@AScanner: Hi AScanner. The problem with your edit is that you cited a self-published blog of an author whose background is unknown (which is against WP:SELFPUBLISH). Also, per WP:A&M/ORS, reviews by Ross Locksley and Andy Hanley are the only acceptable articles from UK Anime Network, as they are considered experts in the field. On another note, a reference in the series doesn't warrant an entire "Influences" section. It may be noteworthy if we had a "Production" section or similar, but that mention alone would be WP:UNDUE. I hope I have explained myself. Xexerss (talk) 00:47, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for explaining! I was totally unaware of the guidelines around UKAN and thought that might suffice. I will try to familiarize myself with those guidelines and avoid that in the future. And thank you for your effort on the article; I promise to get around to making the plot summary shorter sometime soon. AScanner (talk) 01:11, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
You're welcome. Thank you as well for your understanding. Cheers. Xexerss (talk) 01:25, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

Three article to create for you

I'll try to create the My Darling! Miss Bancho article; however, I couldn't find enough coverage for the two others. My Daemon will certainly have more coverage in the future, but with a single source at the moment, I don't think it deserves an article yet. Xexerss (talk) 21:20, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

Crunchyroll Channel

Recently Crunchyroll launched a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) digital network called Crunchyroll Channel that plays English dubbed anime 24/7. Four anime titles play in the cable-like schedule with same 4 episodes 3 times (2 hours per series) within an 24 hour period, and slowly build up airing the entire show seemingly based on the guide listings later in the week. Should I even attempt to redistribute its English dubbed episode runs into air date sections on the articles, considering I can't hardly find any way to properly source it through archiving records right now? I'd like to hear your advice. GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 07:18, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

@GalaxyFighter55: Good question, but I admit that I wouldn't know the best way to proceed with this. It would be great if there was a site where you could check schedules and stuff like that. An option that comes to mind would be using Template:Cite episode for each episode that debuts on the network, but that may be not so practical. It would be worth discussing it at WP:A&M, at least to get more ideas from other editors. Xexerss (talk) 07:50, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: I think what I'll do for now is remove the ones I already added from the articles so far and archive them on a sandbox until I can get better opinions on the matter. It's hard to argue if FAST channels should even be considered a network to begin with considering its essentially just a linear form of streaming. I watched the channel and its kind of just an empty version of cable, with little to no effort put into actual promos on most of them. But you know, atleast in the U.S., streaming is definitely becoming more widespread in these recent years, and I wonder how badly broadcast / cable will be hurt from it in another 10 years. I would have been more confident in my decision had I found a proper webpage that archives its schedule, but there doesn't seem to be one outside of a built-in WiFi connected TV on the apps.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 01:10, 14 October 2023 (UTC)

The title of an OVA series

Hi @Xexerss , I created a separate manga article for this OVA, but the OVA and the manga have the same name, as I see in other articles such as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (OVA), adding the suffix (OVA) or (anime) at the end of the title does not follow WP:NCTV or WP:NCBC.

What's your opinion? M.A.LasTroniN910t@lk 09:14, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

@M.A.LasTroniN910: Given that the manga doesn't have an article, I think that the current title is fine. It would make sense as well to transfer the Saiyuki Gaiden component from the infobox of the Saiyuki (manga) article to the infobox of the Saiyuki Gaiden article, making the article focused on the manga as the primary work. You could also add Template:About at the top of the article to specify that the it is about the OVA instead of the manga, but the first option seems a better idea to me. Xexerss (talk) 09:34, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
I have already created the Saiyuki Gaiden manga article in my sandbox and my draft is ready for main article space and I was thinking about the title of the OVA series. Now that both the manga and the OVA have separate articles, what should the title of the OVA be? M.A.LasTroniN910t@lk 10:41, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
@M.A.LasTroniN910: Wouldn't it be more practical to have just one article for both, manga and OVA? I suppose that there must be enough coverage out there for both works, but is there enough of each one to warrant two separate articles? If we can't use the term "OVA" for the title of an article, I don't know what term would be better. Xexerss (talk) 11:04, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss: Yes, I agree that the best possible solution would be to have a Saiyuki Gaiden article that discusses both the manga and the OVA. To that end, I had a small request. It would be nice if you could help merge the content from User:M.A.LasTroniN910/sandbox into Saiyuki Gaiden's article and make any necessary edits to update the scope of the article.
can you do it please. — M.A.LasTroniN910t@lk 03:50, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
Sorry. To be honest, I'll be a bit busy these days. I'm just doing some minor edits here and there. Your request is not very difficult anyway. Just make sure that the references are not repeated when merging the content of both articles. Xexerss (talk) 11:50, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

@Tintor2: Sorry, I didn't get it, does that site have the home video interviews? Because I don't see anything in that specific link. My apologies

Greetings dear Xexerss, I wanted to apologize if I gave you some work to do in fixing my changes in the infobox templates on some pages. In my next changes I will avoid adding such parameters when not necessary. Having said this, I wanted to offer you my most sincere thanks for all the work you always do with great commitment, thank you very much. Pazio Paz (talk) 00:44, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

@Pazio Paz: Don't worry. I myself just started editing according to the MOS just some weeks ago, so I understand the lack of habituation. Likewise, I appreciate your contributions. Cheers. Xexerss (talk) 00:53, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your kindness, I wish you a good continuation. Pazio Paz (talk) 01:16, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

Hi excuse me but...

@Xexerss where is two shojo manga The Prince, the Witch, and the Princesses and My Darling! Miss Bancho? Venom5122 (talk) 16:45, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

@Venom5122: I haven't found enough coverage for those series. And please, don't act like I have an obligation to you. Xexerss (talk) 19:43, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
If it's okay with both of you, could I create My Darling! Miss Bancho after I finish what I'm currently working on? I found some coverage of it and I think it meets WP:NBOOK. I also looked for coverage of the other one but couldn't find anything (it is licensed in French, but that's about it). Link20XX (talk) 05:40, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
@Link20XX: That's fine with me. Xexerss (talk) 05:57, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

New anime adaptation

Can you create one shot manga of Monsters by Eiichiro Oda because manga gets anime

@Venom5122: I don't want to sound mean, but could you stop asking me to create articles so often? I suggest you to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia:Notability before requesting an article. The fact that a work will receive an adaptation doesn't warrant an article if all we have at the moment is just a source confirming that event. Xexerss (talk) 20:59, 7 November 2023 (UTC)

About this….

Could I like make sub pages about media that isn’t real for newer users to understand how those types of pages work. If you had a problem with this in the past, I understand, but can I do it? DorkLore (talk) 00:45, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

@DorkLore: Sorry, but I didn't understand very well your question. Are you talking about testing to know how to edit articles on Wikipedia? If that's the case, you can always use your sandbox page for that kind of stuff. For more info, see Wikipedia:About the sandbox. The mainspace is not for testing, so I suggest you to no create articles about non-existent media, as it would be deleted immediately anyway. Xexerss (talk) 01:54, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, but what if I want to make a separate sandbox? DorkLore (talk) 02:30, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
@DorkLore: I don't think there is a limit about the number of sandboxes that you can create. You can create sandbox, sandbox2, sandbox3, sandbox4, and so on. Xexerss (talk) 02:38, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
