[edit]Okay, I put that deletion tag in my user talk as you suggested. and also free free to not email us as well. and also please do not put back the messages again in your talk page. I give you the good advice to leave me alone forever as I wish to not find the name of our company nowhere in wikipedia. understand? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ev*dentH*st 1 September 2006.
- Okay. I've deleted the talk page, and won't restore the comments on my talk page (for future reference, the comments you removed are here). Now please leave me alone, too. =) --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 11:10, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Barnstar!
[edit]The Minor Barnstar
I went looking for your contribs for some unknown reason, and found that you do a lot of edits which are small in quanity, but high in quality. I award you the Minor Barnstar for all the little things you do around Wikipedia to help improve it, but not in the name of seeking recognition - akin to Wikignomes :D —Killfest2—Daniel.Bryant 10:59, 31 July 2006 (UTC) |
- Thank youuuu for this coool thing! I guess I can replace the ninja star when I get around to it. =) --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 11:23, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your help with the image thing. I ended up reuploading it with the LOGO tag this time, hopefully it will work this time around. (The original was deleted I am told)--Cosmic Larva 03:47, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Friday Nite Improvs
[edit]This article has again been issued an AfD, however this time it is in retaliation for an AfD whose creators are taking the process very personally. I can't find the original AfD entry for the article, and the talk page says you de-listed it. Do you happen to know where it is? Thanks. --Chris Griswold 18:07, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, it wasn't up for AfD; I delisted it from speedy deletion in light of claims of notability on the talk page. The new AfD is thus probably the first time it's up for AfD, unless something sneaky happened. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 20:45, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, OK. I understand now. Thanks. --Chris Griswold 23:11, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
snake george article
[edit]Speedy deletion indeed!
I was in the process of creating the article, and published it in error.
What pointers can you give me then? Question
[edit]Why was db-advert deleted? --Hetar 03:49, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- The user had created the page in template namespace, then moved it to their user space, and requested deletion themselves. That would be WP:CSD G6 (housekeeping), and U1 (user request). Plus, if you read WP:CSD, you should realise the template doesn't really specify a real CSD criterion (a bit regrettably), so a redirect would be a little bit misleading... --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 08:30, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- ...and FWIW, the template is here now. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 08:34, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
The Comic Book Haters
[edit]Wolf, I loved your comments to Rick where you used your fictional book! Would you mind if I used that for any future AfD debates? You can see the edited template [here]. That was probably the best refute I have seen in a while! I would give you a barnstar for your stand against silly arguements but I have no idea if there is one. You deserve it though! --Brian (How am I doing?) 14:06, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Nonsense
[edit]Thanks for your handling of the speedy delete tag I placed on a recent disamb page. It's good to know that a wholly redlinked disamb page would not qualify for speedy deletion. I'm still figuring the finer points of the deletion process out, and I will remember to go about such a page in a different manner from now on. Erechtheus 18:39, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- That's a great link you suggested. I know I have seen the nonsense template used more expansively than the criteria, and I fell into the habit of doing so myself. That isn't good practice, of course. Erechtheus 18:56, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

List of computer and video games considered the worst ever
[edit]Hello Wwwwolf,
I am writing you because you are one of the Wikipedians who have editted the List of computer and video games considered the worst ever. However, the way it is being done now, I believe doesn't work. I would like to invite you to take 2 minutes of your time and leave your thoughts on the talk page.

[edit]Hello Wwwwolf
Many thanks for the nice comment on my usertalk page how to do archives. That was useful for me and I wasn't aware of this! :)
My apologize please, actually I did not want to mess up your talk page, but please read the reason why I asked the admin to change my username, because of that reason the name of our company MUST be purged from everywhere in wikipedia. This is why I signed my comments with my new username that the name of our company will be deleted. and I am asking you to do this arrangment for me on your talk page and also on your archives! :)
Now as our quarrel is finished and everything is explained to me, you are more than welcome to email me if you wish! :)

sorry I am not aware if I ever did this??
Thanks, Evidental 07:49, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you, may be use of * was a good idea to prevent googling. But why not using my new username instead? as about googling, I am affraid about your archive page. may be this is better that you use * there as well? or may be change to my new username? Evidental 10:30, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Considering DXMP
[edit]In my opinion it would be the best to leave an own page for DXMP. The game differs from Deus Ex and people interested in only Deus Ex do not have read about the multiplayer version.
And about the links: sure the external links include sites that are hosted by unofficial group of players but at the moment they are the ones that keep DXMP alive (Deus Ex obviously lives on since it is a single player), provide the newest updates and fixes to the engine etc. Removing all of this minimal information does not do any good to anyone, only harm - instead leaving it there gives people the best possible sources for the newest information, updates and news about DXMP. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Skyzthelimit (talk • contribs) .
- This is more of an issue of article sizes: Deus Ex isn't really huge enough to warrant subpages in my opinion. Anyhow, I guess this is best discussed in Talk:Deus Ex; I'll leave the merge tag for now but won't do anything more. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 14:53, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Of course you are right, it is nothing like Counter-Strike etc. But it is still played by 100-200 players around the world. Anyhows...it would be enough in my opinion too if this small 10 sentence introduction would be on the Deus Ex article. It naturally belongs there and I don't get it why people delete / edit it out. ---Skyzthelimit
The Ultima Dragons
[edit]Man, I don't know why certain people are such sticklers for verifiability. Do you think it'd be worthwhile contacting the Ultima Dragons directly, see if they maybe have some idea of sources or something we could add? I know I found mention of interviews where Lord British spoke about them, but no direct links to them. Sigh. FrozenPurpleCube 19:54, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- Regrettably, I'm all out of ideas on this department. I don't even know how to "contact" "the Dragons"; AFAIK they're a fairly uninformal bunch. If this article is deleted, I'll see to it that it gets DRV'd properly, but also put sourceable stuff on the Ultima main article. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 10:01, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
- The Welcome Team seems to be the unofficial spokespeople for the group; perhaps theyh could help. I still say, as I did on the AfD page, that WP:V is not a valid grounds for deletion though :) If I caught the gist of the original RfD right, then he's basically saying because it's a video game club, it shouldn't be included in Wikipedia, which just doesn't jive. - -- Wizardry Dragon (Talk to Me) (Support Neutrality on Wikipedia) 22:04, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Re: Krondor and Ultima
[edit]I agree entirely with your comments.
I think, when writing articles for RPGs and the like, there's a very fine line between an accurate appraisal, and glowing, overblown praise. A single superfluous adjective, or slightly inappropriate verb, will do push the whole tone of a paragraph over-the-top.
I just hope that what I've written is a good-enough starting point that a little clean-up, here and there, like you said, will turn 'hype' into 'good copy'.
Thank you for your courtesy, and I'm happy to see that there's at least one person out there with an interest in classic RPGs who doesn't come ranting with the usual 'NPOV!! NPOV!!' party line.
I will, in all likelihood, get better and better at doing this sort of thing right the first time out, but in the meantime I appreciate your consideration.

I suspect that this breed of dog is a hoax, or at least blitheringly non-notable. Is this a well-known dog in Finland?--Nydas 23:01, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not a dog expert, really, and there's tons of dog breeds I've never heard of. This is one of them. My hoax-o-meter isn't going off on the page alone, however. Finnish article on Finnish animal breeds lists it ("Tamaskankoira"). Also found some random discussions. Apparently, based on vague one-o-clock-in-the-morning searches and complete and utter failure to use the search engines from these organisations and relying on hearsay, there's no official FCI or Finnish Kennelliitto breed standard. My vague conclusion at the time is that the dog breed may exist (if in a little bit unofficial form), and it may indeed originate in Finland (though I'm not so sure). Finally, I have absolutely no idea what language the name of the breed is, sounds like some place name. Yes, the web page does explain this in Finnish too. I'd just like to know what language. =) This may probably fall into the "non-notable" rather than "hoax" category. Just don't shoot anyone/anything based on this extremely vague and cursory check, okay? --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 23:34, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- I've stuck the article on AfD, which should hopefully settle the matter one way or the other.--Nydas 10:19, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

AfD Nomination: Hoe of Destruction
[edit]I've nominated the article Hoe of Destruction for deletion under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Hoe of Destruction satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. I have explained why in the nomination space (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hoe of Destruction. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them. You are free to edit the content of Hoe of Destruction during the discussion, but please do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top). Doing so will not end the discussion. —Psychonaut 22:53, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Reply on List of Best-Selling Computer Games
[edit]First, I do aplogize for mocking you. While I do feel your statement was a little too strong, that is no excuse. I can only say that I had just gotten involved in the issue at a time when a very ugly editing war was underway, and I think tempers all around were stretched a little thin. I have since washed my hands of the entire affair, and I am hesitant to get involved again. That being said, if the players change and the editing wars stop, I am certainly happy to do what can to make sure only reliable numbers appear on the page. I too, have no objection to such a page in principle and agree that some accurate information is better than no information. My vote for delete was primarily based on the fact that I am not sure the current page is the answer. At this time, I do not think it is possible to construct a page that covers the majority of this information accurately. I think we should have more focused lists for information we do know, such as a list of best-selling computer games or a list of best-selling playstation games. Conversely, if we are left with only a very short list of games for which we have solid information, then it may be best to scrap lists entirely and actually make an article that basically says that figures are hard to come by, but here are a few numbers we do know. That is my stance at the moment, but I am certainly willing to refine and/or change my position based on further dialogue. Indrian 16:03, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for taking a look at that article, which I tagged with {{db-spam}}. In your edit you asked "where's the spam???" and you removed the speedy. Then you made a NN PROD out of it.
My problem I have is the following: I am in a content dispute with admin user:GraemeL on List of UML tools. We had a list of tools there, with an external link for each product as a reference. I have had that article a long time on my watchlist and tried to keep that in some reasonable shape and tried not to censor products (NPOV). GraemeL suddenly appeared on that list strong-armishly removing products that don't have their own article with an edit summary "Linkspam cleanup again. WP:NOT a web directory" [2], [3], [4]. See also my reasoning on the talk page.
I have given up to argue with GraemeL on this, manly because he refuses to discuss this [5].
The problem that remains for me is NPOV. If the tools that GraemeL removed from List of UML tools are spam, because of their external link, then I must conclude that a page like Apollo for Eclipse, created by User:Gentleware (the same name as the producer of the tool mentioned in the article), is spam as well. After all there isn't much more on that Apollo for Eclipse than an external link.
I wouldn't mind keeping the Apollo for Eclipse myself, but not under the new "regime" enforced by GraemeL.
Please note that I am an admin myself, but I deliberately don't wear my admin hat in this matter, as I am in a content dispute with regards to the List of UML tools. Sorry for bothering you with all this. I would appreciate if you could take a look at the situation. I do not oppose what you did on Apollo for Eclipse. But I am quite concerned about the double standard about these tools. --Ligulem 17:43, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'll reply on your talk page. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 17:50, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Wow. Thanks for the long lecture (which still didn't adress all my points). "If a content dispute escalates to the point that people are proposing deletion of other articles". Not at all. It was this edit that triggered my action in regard to Apollo for Eclipse. If the entry would have made with an external link, GraemeL would have had to remove it. If it's done with an article and the link is put there, that seems ok. As I wrote: I took GraemeL's position. That's all. If you do not find that Apollo for Eclipse is spam or a blatant advertisement, then fine. No need to defend your action :-). If we can have the links in articles like Apollo for Eclipse then ok. All I said is: there isn't much of a difference with regard to links being "spammy". BTW non-notability criteria normally do apply to list entries in the same way as they apply to articles. I just don't see the point what the difference is between having the links in a list "spammy" and not on an article. A point which you didn't address in your "lecture" :-). Anyway, I rest my case. I won't edit List of UML tools anymore anyway. Never mind. --Ligulem 20:06, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
