Shared account

[edit]

Hello, AVALawGroup. I noticed that your username implies that your account represents a law group as a whole, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Feel free to create individual accounts for any editors. See WP:SHAREDACCOUNT for more information. Thanks, EDG 543 (message me) 01:32, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. — JJMC89(T·C) 04:15, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

Want to change username to WriteratAVALawGroup AVALawGroup (talk) 15:43, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Decline reason:

I believe this username would fall foul of WP:ROLE - 'writer' is too generic. We don't need your real name, but it should be something that identifies an individual rather than something that might be interpreted as a position within your organisation. GirthSummit (blether) 08:44, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed the formatting of your request. It would be better if your proposed new username was more individualistic and not that of a position or job. It doesn't have to be your real name, but something unique to you. 331dot (talk) 16:41, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I note that you have written a draft about a person associated with your organisation. Please refer to WP:COI and WP:PAID, which you are expected to abide by if you are unblocked. GirthSummit (blether) 08:44, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon

Hello WriterRecip2021. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:WriterRecip2021. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=WriterRecip2021|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. win8x (talking | spying) 19:55, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am not directly or indirectly compensated for my edits. WriterRecip2021 (talk) 20:15, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. However your previous username shows that you have a conflict of interest and I recommend reading that policy. As you can see from the notice below, the article is promotional in nature. win8x (talking | spying) 21:03, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
While it may seem that way I do not work for the firm nor for Andrew. This account was not active for several years. I am an associate of someone who did work for him in the past. I do not work for him nor am I compensated by him or others associated with him. It is my understanding the account was intended to be a shared account by others who did work for him at the time. It was recently recovered and pass to me as I am a neutral third party who is attempting to create a page in accordance with your rules. WriterRecip2021 (talk) 21:45, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, that's understandable. However, the page was still promotional, and he wasn't really notable, you only provided two articles and they barely mentionned him. Sorry. win8x (talking | spying) 02:08, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Andrew Van Arsdale, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
