ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:50, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
Python code for Leibniz formula for π
[edit]Hi Mychemicalromanceisrealemo,
Thanks for contributing your python implementation of the Madhava–Leibniz series for π/4. I reverted your change (took the code back out again) because it seems a bit off topic / out of scope to me, but if you want to add it back again you are welcome to start a conversation at Talk:Leibniz formula for π.
In general, I'd recommend against putting code listings as replacements or supplements for simple math formulas, since the code is longer and harder to read than the formula version, and is easily recoverable by any programmer who can read mathematical notation at about the late high school level. Other problems with code listings include the arbitrary choice of programming language (Python vs. C++ vs. Javascript vs. ... vs. including several implementations), and the inaccessibility to many readers. In this particular case, a concrete implementation is also not really a practical way to compute π/4, since this series converges pathologically slowly.
Code listings are helpful for tricky algorithms that require more subtle control flow or repeated modification of some stored program state, but even then it's often better to write pseudocode rather than a concrete implementation in a specific programming language.
All the best. –jacobolus (t) 01:09, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

Stalking and harassment while I was blocked
[edit]By the way, I consider your "bold move" of Astrotheology while I was blocked to be intentional WP:STALKING with intent to WP:HARASS, and I'm pretty sure ANI would find that to be the case. I suggest you avoid giving the appearance that you intend to continue such behavior. Skyerise (talk) 12:10, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- Please feel free to bring it up at ANI. Tryin to make a change :-/ 12:27, 15 December 2023 (UTC)

Invitation
[edit]- Hello Wound theology, we need experienced volunteers.
- New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
- Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.
- Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, it basically boils down to checking CSD, notability, and title). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us.
- If you would like to join the project and help out, please see the granting conditions. You can apply for the user-right HERE.
- If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message at the reviewer's discussion board.
- Cheers, and hope to see you around.

WP:HOUNDING and WP:BOOMARANG
[edit]I started an RfC at Talk:Western tulku. I've also brought up the topic of your WP:WIKIHOUNDING me at WP:ANI. Skyerise (talk) 16:09, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
Kitten!
[edit]Chaotic Enby has given you a kitten! Kittens promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Your kitten must be fed three times a day and will be your faithful companion forever! Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a kitten, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.
Spread the goodness of kittens by adding {{subst:Kitten}} to someone's talk page with a friendly message, or kittynap their kitten with {{subst:Kittynap}}.
Giving a kitten to both you and Skyerise so everything gets a bit more gentle, I know ANI can easily get pretty tense!

Heinrich Himmler piped in userbox
[edit]Please explain the userbox on your userpage that reads: This user has an article about herself on Wikipedia,
with Heinrich Himmler piped in the "article" link. El_C 23:24, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- @El C: It is in the same vein of having a page that was vandalized 6 billion times or having worked on 10 million good articles -- all done from my phone. It's just nonsense I find funny. I also state that I hate truth, love pseudoscience, and advocate for legalizing vandalism on Wikipedia. It is also heavily implied that I am a reptilian shapeshifter and a neoliberal and that userboxes I intend seriously are here. (I also used to have userboxes that said I was Jimmy Wales and that I was an "administrator willing to make difficult blocks" but I removed those upon request.) Tryin to make a change :-/ 02:12, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- After discussing it with other editors in the Discord server I have changed it to...a different figure. Tryin to make a change :-/ 02:47, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Works for me. But yeah, comparing oneself to the architect of the Holocaust, even ostensibly as a joke, is too much. I am tasked, in part, with keeping the English Wikipedia project a safe environment for its editors and readers, which this skirted the line of (if not outright crossed it). Anyway, thanks again for removing it. See ya. El_C 02:56, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
