Information icon Hello, I'm Yamaguchi先生. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Karachi, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Specifically, please do not call out this locality as a "Megacity", and ensure that you are providing a reliable source for your claims. This issue is currently active on the article talk page (Talk:Karachi) should you wish to discuss further. Regards, Yamaguchi先生 (talk) 20:49, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A question about sources

[edit]

I see that in User:Worldandhistory/sandbox you give the title of some works, which you refer to as "Work Cited" Can you clarify what you meant by that? Did you mean that the text you posted is taken from those works? The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 15:40, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I used quote of 2 different person from 2 different sources in the article. I mentioned the 2 sources (i.e. journals) in the "Work Cited" Section. I was just experimenting on MLA writing format. Worldandhistory (talk) 21:46, 18 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, I'm DVdm. Your recent edit to the page Gravity appears to have added incorrect information, so I removed it for now. If you believe the information was correct, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. DVdm (talk) 16:20, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Note: light does not consist of protons ([1]), and it is not matter. If you don't agree, then bring it to the article talk page. See wp:BRD. - DVdm (talk) 16:22, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add or significantly change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Lumbar puncture. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. DVdm (talk) 16:23, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did with this edit to Alzheimer's disease. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. DVdm (talk) 16:24, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further notice the next time you vandalize a page, as you did with this edit to Big Bang. DVdm (talk) 16:27, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Note: the "Big Bang" is not a theory ([2]). - DVdm (talk) 16:29, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@DVdm Please note your are raising unjust warnings on me. Users like you discourage new writers to join Wikipedia and contribute. Please refer to term "good faith edits" if not sure about vandalism. Though UN-sourced, the edits made on Alzheimer's disease and Lumbar puncture are correct. You could have asked citation from me before issuing these warnings. Also, Big Bang is a theory, always have been always will be. What kind of Note is that I do not understand.Worldandhistory (talk) 18:34, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also please note that the two short sentences that you added with this edit, contain—if I count correctly—at least ten syntactic or semantic errors. It looks like you have trouble expressing yourself correctly in English. - DVdm (talk) 18:59, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@EdJohnston Are you serious!? A good faith contribution and an admin will decide to block my account!? This is a pure discouragement for new users to join and contribute on Wikipedia. If this continues, Wikipedia will have very few (if no) contributors in future. Photons carry the light, photons are effected by gravity, thus light is bound to be effected by gravity and it does bend when it passes by heavy masses like sun or black holes. I would like to report you for vandalizing my page.Worldandhistory (talk) 18:34, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Note that even if you meant "photons" where you actually wrote "protons", you still had it wrong because photons are not considered to be matter. And light does not bend around massive objects due to its "own gravitational mass". Light has no mass. - DVdm (talk) 18:59, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please look into the above matter I have been issued several warnings in short span of time without a legit cause. I am being accused of vendalism without performing one. You may please review my edits and see if I have ever written anything bad on Wikipedia. This is pure discouragement issuing someone warning without considering good faith or without talking on Talk page. This discourage users who contribute on Wikipedia out of passion for writing without expecting any money. Please look into the above matter and help.Worldandhistory (talk) 19:05, 4 March 2016 (UTC) Please note above, user DVdm is constantly harassing me upon my previous edits. This bullying on Wikipedia is not acceptable. Please help.[reply]

Worldandhistory, please be aware that the charge is not vandalism, but incompetence. You don't have enough knowledge of the subject (or ability to write English accurately) to usefully contribute to articles such as Gravity. The above posts from me and from User:DVdm include examples of the problems. The rubber sheet example is one that appears in textbooks, but you have garbled it so few will be able to understand it. EdJohnston (talk) 19:17, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Not all writers are perfect but they choose to volunteer, it does NOT mean you can mock them about it. As long as grammar is concerned the edits can always be undid or edited if you fiund mistake, no need to issue warnings, as far as citing no sources concern, one can always talk about it in a user's talk page or discuss it at the article's talk page. This is an account not an anonymous IP, users can not place warnings on others' page based on their assumptions. Please note Wikipedia has good faith principle. Please take note of my request. Worldandhistory (talk) 19:39, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think that note is taken of your request, but please also take note of the warnings you have been given here. Perhaps indeed most of your edits are not vandalism, but persistenly ignoring warnings about addition of unsourced content, poorly expressed content, or downright wrong content, is usually treated as vandalism and can lead to wp:blocks. - DVdm (talk) 20:16, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The only warnings I received today are yours. And I really don't know how to take note of them since I believe I did not put anything deserving of warning. I did not introduce a new information on any of the mentioned articles, nor did I take something out. Most of the edits were "paraphrasing" while explicitly mentioning that I am adding "easy to understand words for beginners". But it seems you deliberately went on all my contributions to specifically point out my mistakes. Please be kind to (specially new) users/contributors in future. Though it's not a paid job, we "volunteer" to contribute, your act was still kind of professionally unethical to point out someone's honest mistakes and pose them as a threat. Worldandhistory (talk) 21:56, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The problem with your "easy to understand words for beginners" that I have seen here, is that they were either unsourced, badly expressed, or wrong, and I'm not the only or the first one who noticed. Please try to take this as an opportunity to adjust your editing. Cheers. - DVdm (talk) 22:24, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • information Administrator note I have reviewed a handful of your edits such as to Gravity, Earth, and Alzheimer's disease. You have been fairly warned about WP:OR and WP:V. I don't see any templates for vandalism, and WP:COMPETENCE is a valid concern here with edits like this. I believe you want to help but in order to do so, you will need to review some of the policies linked here. Once you're aware of the standards and policies here on Wikipedia, as well as becoming more familiar with the wiki editing system, you should run into less templates and comments from other editors. I recommend you check out the WP:TEAHOUSE if you have any questions. Wikipedia is a complicated place so I wouldn't expect anyone to be able to edit it right away without running into a few problems here and there. It's all part of the learning process. Mkdwtalk 00:15, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Mkdw Thank you for responding. The last warning from DVdm "You may be blocked from editing without further notice the next time you vandalize a page" kind of seemed unfair to me considering I did not do vandalism. Also "Competence is Required" policy does not say to issue a warning of "you may be blocked from editing without a further notice" if no obvious evidence of vandalism is present. Anyway thank you. I will take note of WP:COMPETENCE, however, I did not get what policies I should be reading may be you forgot to mention the link sir, or did you mean policies mentioned in WP:OR and WP:V?. If you meant any other policies then please provide a link.Worldandhistory (talk) 18:47, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Help

[edit]

Can someone please tell me how to cite a source on an article more than one time on different places "without" adding the numbers on the references list?

You must define a ref. See WP:REFB#Same reference used more than once. Did this answer your question? – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 19:04, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Finnusertop It did. Thanks a lot! Worldandhistory (talk) 20:25, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good job, Worldandhistory! – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 20:27, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

A while ago I entered into a quiz/learning program in Wikipedia. It was also offering to add information to my User page. I didn't continue at that time but would like to go back there. Please someone help me how to get that help program. It was like an animated tour or something. Thanks in advance for help.

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Mahidevran Gülbahar, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. Thank you @TJH2018 for noticing but I find the information irrelevant to the topic and unnecessary. It's okay if you revert my changes. Maybe I am wrong there. Worldandhistory (talk) 23:47, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
