[edit]You are welcome. Actually the vandal (who is from Australia) corrected it themsleves before I could revert the edit. Several other users also warned this vandal (I don't know their gender) so that they don't so this again. Chris (talk) 01:37, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
GA Nomination
[edit]I saw your comment on the GA nomination. One of the requirements is to make certain you have inline citations[1] on either every line or paragraph. You can look this up in WP:MOS and it can give you information on how to do this. I can help you on this if needed. 23:51, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- ^ Like this as an example
(Sorry about that). Chris (talk) 23:51, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- You will need to see WP:CITE. This will give you guidelines on citing articles, including how to do inline citations. I could not think of it originally on how to do this when you issued your comments in the edit summary yesterday. Sorry about that. Chris (talk) 15:27, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of William Underwood Company
[edit]The article William Underwood Company you nominated as a good article has failed , see Talk:William Underwood Company for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of said article. If you oppose this decision, you may ask for a reassessment. Ice Cold Beer (talk) 09:56, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Goldblith book
[edit]Regarding the Goldblith book, I have that book at home and will put in the links if you give me the chance to do so. I will revert your previous edit to keep the Goldblith book in there until I can get the inline citations because it does mention the William Underwood Company at length. Chris (talk) 00:55, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Never mind. I see you have already done so. I can clean this up for you though if you would like. Disregard previous message. Chris (talk) 00:57, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Photographs of company
[edit]If you are planning on putting in images, please read WP:IMAGE. This will give you information on image copyright tags and how to put them in correctly. That you help you. Chris (talk) 19:39, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Re: Napster -- GA but two "needs cites" banners
[edit]I don't mind you tagging the article for reassessment. I think it has contracted considerable cruft since it originally achieve GA status. I wouldn't mind a mass reversion to the original GA version, as suggested by SimonLyall here. We could then re-incorporating important new additions individually, while adding citations. --April Arcus (talk) 07:36, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Nobska
[edit]Nice work! I wanted to do a Nobska article awhile back, but ran out of steam. I'm glad you did it! I've got a few photos of her around here, but I'll have to check the copyright status. Cbaer (talk) 20:56, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Nobska Light Issue
[edit]Generally articles are graded on the information that you mentioned and the article paragraphs. The article is really short when the templates, citations, and infobox are removed. To improve it, I would add more and feel free to upgrade it yourself. If ou look at the Cape Cod Project, you'll see that it is a small project and 99% of those articles were tagged by me. I was doing so many bot-like edits that after a while it started to get to the point where a quick look at the article would suffice. I know that there are others out there that should probably have their class changed but thats for another person since I generally am generous when it comes to things like that. Thanks though for the heads up though on the tagging of that article. I'll probably check out the others soon. Please feel free to join the CC Project though. You'll be much appreciated. Naushon photo
[edit]I just lumped all the Naushon photos together into the same category (commons:category:SS Nantucket (1957)), but I couldn't add yours since it's in Wikipedia not in Wikimedia Commons. How would you feel about adding it to Wikimedia Commons? Riick (talk) 16:49, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Sure, if I have the time to figure out how to do that, I am not against it, the problem is it doesn't seem pressing to me so I might not get around to it.--Wmjames (talk) 00:39, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
William Underwood Company
[edit]Hi, Wmjames. No need for snark in an edit summary (though I've been guilty of that myself, I'm afraid, and I try to rein it in). The chicken spread was shown, but not the sardines. Perfectly valid to ask for a cite on that. Especially since "sardines" does sound like someone put it in as a joke!  : :)  :--Tenebrae (talk) 18:16, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- I love that Wikipedia can get people talking about sardines! To this day I can't tell you difference between them and anchovies, though truth to tell, I haven't tried looking up either in Wikipedia.
- Honestly, I don't believe I'm a lazy editor; I make about 100 edits a day and have totaled over 46,200. One can only do so much, and there's a reason the citation-requested tag template exists. But I hear you. And as long as I'm here, let me compliment you on your work at what I've discovered is an article that involves important discoveries in food technology. Who knew? I usually cover popular culture, but my wife found she had trouble locating Underwood deviled ham at our local supermarket and, well, you know how it goes when Wikipedia sucks you in! --Tenebrae (talk) 00:42, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- I know! It kills me! Years ago I tried looking them up in a dictionary, and basically got "sardine: a type of anchovy-like edible little fish" and "anchovy: a sardine-like edible little fish"...!
- Maybe we should team up, find scientific websites and settle the question once for all! But not tonight ... I'm bushed! --Tenebrae (talk) 01:22, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I can't remember exactly — it's been a few years — but, yeah, dictionary definitions should be totally citable. I know they've been used at Superhero. --Tenebrae (talk) 01:30, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- Wow, and that's the OAD! Still, this is the most promising definition I've heard so far — they're both herring, whatever herring are. I've never heard of alewives, though they sound saucy (hah!). Maybe an anchovy is what you get when you prepare herring a certain way? I'm really going to have to make time to delve into this... And yeah, sweet potato and yam ... I'm told there's a difference between possums and opossums as well.... --Tenebrae (talk) 22:30, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
