Style dabbing

[edit]

Hello. This message is in regards to your edits of STYLE (Namie Amuro album) and Style (Cameo album). Please, in the future, do not biaseedly disambiguate or make up titles. "Namie Amuro's STYLE" is not an official title and this not acceptable. Style (album) should have been a disambiguation page, as it currently is. You also failed to list Style (Cameo album) on Style, the universal disambiguation page. While your efforts and intentions may have been good, your execution was horrid. In the future, please ask for help before inacting poor methods of disambiguation. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 16:36, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well I still believe that I did the right thing, since STYLE and Style were conflicting before. I was aware that Namie Amuro's STYLE was not the best name for it, but I knew that it would find a more suitable home eventually. The point was to remove the confusion from Style and Style (album). -- Wiz9999 17:52, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

image - map of economic subsections of AU

[edit]

thanks Wiz9999 for contributing this potentially very useful file.

problem: Its difficult to read and thus confusing, in its present form. It appears that complex multiply-overlapping structures are to a degree defying clear graphical representation.

possibly a larger version of the map would be more easily understood? or a different form of representation - say, colored symbols in each country rather than very thin stripes that are tending to bleed a bit on the comp screen.

again i thank you for your evident contributions. this is meant not as criticism, but as asking for further help.

Jvol 03:34, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, Burundi and Rwanda joined EAC, so the map should be updated to that effect. I usually do such things myself, but my software can't handle the neat stripes you've included... Could you update them, please? Thanks! —Nightstallion (?) 23:27, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A question about your image 800px-BlankMap-World-Borders.png

[edit]

Hey there.

I'm currently authoring a manga and it discusses war/political conflicts so I needed a map to reflect the setting's national borders and territories. I added colors for each faction/alliance to your image, 800px-BlankMap-World-Borders.png, and a small legend for each color as well.

I'd like to upload this to my deviantART site as a reference so others can better understand the story's politics and just for the sake of enhancing the realism of this world I'm creating. However, I wanted to make sure that I credited you for creating the actual framework I designed this map with. Is there any particular way you'd like for me to list your original copyright? Do you even want me to list one? And if you'd rather me not upload or use this image I'll understand that as well. I just wanted to be polite and ask you first.

Thanks!

PS: I really appreciate that you took the time to create a well-designed map like this, it's pretty useful!

76.18.140.105 17:55, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no need to credit me for this map, I do not require it. Feel free to list the original copyright however you so choose. Wiz9999 12:47, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maps

[edit]

from the maps you recently uploaded in commons. it is clear that they have been made in a vector program. therefore would be more practical if you could upload them in SVG format. otherwise they will end in the list of files that should be converted. [Category:Images_that_should_use_vector_graphics]. wich would mean making them again. please consider in uploading the SVG version yourself-LadyofHats 05:24, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

These maps were updated using Microsoft Paint not a vector program, I do not possess the original SVG version. Wiz9999 05:27, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found it quite hard to "colour with a single click", as is claimed in the Wikipedia:Blank Maps page for Image:BlankMap-World-v7.png and Image:BlankMap-World-v7-Borders.png, a simple click still only colours contiguous territory (yet I can clearly see the lines that were added to the map). Was the colouring tested before it was posted, or am I doing something wrong?

Having said that, I must say that I really like the idea of having a slightly smaller dot for dependencies to be a brilliant idea! I only wish I came up with that, the circles in the Caribbean region on my map are very crowded, that might ease the congestion! --Canuckguy 22:07, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well that was not my idea either, you can thank Astrokey44 for that. I just used his maps in making this one. As for the colouring issue, im not sure why its not working for you, because the lines across the ocean should colour the territories linked to that country (Such as if you paint the USA red, Alaska will also turn up red). Certain territories are excluded from the map (such as Hawaii) as they would cause an unreasonable number of lines bisecting the ocean. Wiz9999 04:01, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you were talking about Saint Martin not automatically changing colour with the rest of the Netherlands Antilles / Guadeloupe this issue has been fixed in the new version, it was a small glitch in the Caribbean that would not have allowed for a single click to colour these two entities. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Discovery Civilisation logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Discovery Civilisation logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shatt al-Arab

[edit]

Hi! It looks like you're trying to move one or more pages. However, please stop doing that this way - the new name of the page might be good, but Wikipedia has another procedure for moving pages. Look at Help:Renaming (moving) a page: you need to use the move tab, and not cut and paste. Cut and paste moves don't take the edit history with them and thus violate the GFDL copyright terms. Also, in some cases, when the move might be controversial, you might first want to discuss the move on the article's talk page. If a move is not possible because a page with the new name already exists, go to Wikipedia:Requested moves. Thanks! Khoikhoi 03:11, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I was just fixing a bunch of double redirects to Shatt al-Arab/Arvandrud, if that page was moved incorrectly I am not the one you should be talking to. Wiz9999 03:20, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, sorry. I made the incorrect assumption that you were in fact the anon that tried to move the page. Sorry about that. Khoikhoi 04:16, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion warning Image:BlankMap-World-Subdivisions.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Fair use rationale for Image:Discovery Civilisation Europe logo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Discovery Civilisation Europe logo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 19:07, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Discovery Civilisation Europe logo.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:07, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 19:07, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I need your name for attribution

[edit]

Hello, I am publishing one of your maps and am required by the GFDL to give you attribution, but I do not know your name. Could you please tell me so that I can fulfill the requirements of the license? If you do not wish to publicly reveal your name on Wikipedia, you can send me a private email. --Munchkinguy 00:30, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for considering my map for your publication, but I would rather remain anonymous. If you could please let me know where it is being published I would much appreciate it. Wiz9999 11:03, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article is specifically about incidents confirmed as terrorist acts and that's all we need to know. Insulting me doesn't change that. Adding it is a policy violation. I've reverted again and mentioned it at the talk page. Doug Weller talk 14:32, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
