Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, WistahHoney508. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Caitlin McCarthy, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:48, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for sharing this. I don't know this person. She has received extensive coverage in the New England media (where I live). My apologies if my draft didn't meet standards. I am learning how to do Wiki and learning from mistakes -- I appreciate all help! WistahHoney508 (talk) 13:05, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Caitlin McCarthy (December 16)

- Hello, I linked to the BBC Radio 4 audio doc "Poison in the Womb" which analyzed information from primary sources, such as interviews -- it didn't provide firsthand data or direct evidence but instead interpreted and presented information based on primary sources. Also, the Sunday Post's coverage of the DES apology would be considered a secondary source. The newspaper is reporting on and analyzing an event (the DES apology) rather than offering firsthand documentation or original data about the apology itself.
- Kindly review these international secondary sources which show McCarthy is a notable DES activist who helped achieve the world's first government apology for the DES drug disaster that affected millions around the world.
- Thank you! WistahHoney508 (talk) 01:19, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- I forgot to include that in large part to McCarthy's testimony about DES, Sturgeon issued a historic apology for DES, the first ever by a government. This makes McCarthy notable as she's been invited back by the Scottish Parliament for a meeting about next steps and covered by the BBC Radio 4 and The Sunday Post: "The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in a specific field." Thank you! I'm learning as I go with Wiki and this is all helpful. WistahHoney508 (talk) 01:37, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
