Please use edit summaries

[edit]

Hi, WillowGrove! It would be great if you could use edit summaries with your edits - they make it a lot easier for other editors to quickly understand the nature of your edits. Thanks! Qqqqqq (talk) 20:04, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries really are helpful to other editors - it would be great if you would use them! Thanks. Qqqqqq (talk) 21:19, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a source to add somewhere in the article that she is a Democrat per your edit? Her two elected positions have been non-partisan and nothing in her article says anything about her being a Democrat, and this is a WP:BLP. Aboutmovies (talk) 09:27, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

With respect, that's not sufficient. Being appointed by a Democrat doesn't make one a Democrat. Bill Cohen didn't become a Democrat when he was appointed DoD by Bill Clinton. Defeating a Republican surely doesn't make one a Democrat. See, for example, Joe Lieberman or Bernie Sanders, for that matter. Without a reliable source that says she's a Democrat, thgis should be deleted. Cheers. David in DC (talk) 18:18, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Willow Grove, please read the article carefully: "she was elected to the Supreme Court, defeating former Labor Commissioner and Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Roberts". Roberts was a Republican in his past, but was not running as a Republican in the election for the OSC, which would be illegal in Oregon. The sentence about Roberts is only giving some biographical background on her opponent, not indicating any political allegiance of Linder. Judges are non-partisan in Oregon (other states differ). Now she could be a Democrat, but the article does not say that. And by the way, she also defeated W. Eugene (Gene) Hallman in the election, and he was appointed by the Democratic governor to a state commission, so by your reasoning (he too would be a Democrat) what does that make Linder? And Linder was endorsed by former Republican Oregon AG Dave Frohnmayer, so does that make her a Republican? Aboutmovies (talk) 18:59, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've answered on her talk page. Please reconsider. Cheers. David in DC (talk) 19:42, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LGBT Democrats

[edit]

Hi, WillowGrove! I'm concerned about the category you've created and been busily populating. It seems to me it's not particularly notable that someone is a United States Democrat *and* LGBT. Please discuss at WT:LGBT? Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 15:50, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
