Thanks once again for your advice on improving 50 Cent discography. However, I'm not quite sure what exactly I can use to cite US album sales. You say, rightly, that SoundScan is reliable, but how do I use it as a reference? Do I just use any source that says, say, "according to Nielsen SoundScan", or do Nielsen have a special database of album sales that I'm currently not aware of?
Also, can I use sources like this one to cite the sales for Get Rich or Die Tryin'? I need more claification over what's reliable and what's not, and if it is reliable or not, how to use it.
I hope you understand what I mean - I just need a little explaining. I am desperate for the page to become a featured list, and need all the advice I can get, which would be greatly appreciated. Sufur222 (talk) 21:38, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Billboard gives sales updates in their Chart Beat and news columns. The info comes directly from NSS. Just a quick search works. Yahoo! also has a blog called Chart Watch by Paul Grein, a reasonably reliable author. Note that the latter only does singles, no compilations. The link you give looks like a well reputed source, though it only looks useful for general news and not sales. I could be wrong; I'm not an expert on commercial information. PeterGriffin (one of your reviewers aka Nathan) might be able to help you with references and such. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]21:47, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Wikipedian Penguin. You have new messages at Talk:Wario/GA1. Message added 23:48, 3 September 2011 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
You updated the article history but forgot to change the GAN template to {{GA|~~~~~|topic=Video games|page=1}}! That's required for the bot to update the proper pages. Thanks for your help, Nathan2055talk - review03:04, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, by the looks of it, it will be 2012 (zee end of zee werld) when I even nominate it for FA. It's just one of those articles that I actually have the motivation to perfect, only because I worked so hard on it. Thanks very much; I think this is the fourth WikiLove I've got for LTWYL. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]22:36, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I will do some more copy-editing, get the Guild to help a bit (fingers crossed that the c/e-er will be an experienced one) and maybe a peer review this December or January. The thing is, I'll be gone to Florida in December. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]22:53, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If this "sentence" was in the prose of the article: "Eminem and Rihanna performing "Love the Way You Lie" at E3 2010" It wouldn't sound right would it? But "Eminem and Rihanna perform "Love the Way You Lie" at E3 2010" would. It's kind of like when your English teachers would ask you to answer a question with a complete sentence. That caption, as a sentence, is incomplete. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]09:57, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No, what I'm saying is: "Rihanna singing "Love The Way You Lie (Part II)" on her Loud Tour." by your reasoning, shouldn't have a full stop. The only thing that is different is that you have used singing instead of performing. Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon!12:27, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have copy edited the article till the composition section. Bravo on the work. But main problem reeking the article is that of continually changing tense, full of quotes instead of general prose and the almost plagiarized content in the Recording section. You need to tone down the content. I will continue with the other sections after sometime. — Legolas(talk2me)12:11, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
1. When you see that removing a quote is not harming the article, but is actually making it flow better, out with it. 2. Idolator still hasn't established literary credibility so it won't high-quality source per FA? there. So its fine for GAN, not for FAC. Depends on your future plans with the article. 3. Are you sure 1a or whatever is his last name? Is it a case of someone like P. Diddy where P stands for Puff, thus Diddy being a logical surname? — Legolas(talk2me)14:32, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
All issues have been addressed. I will keep Idolator until I actually decide to bring this to FAC. For #3, I replaced "1da" with "Boi-1da" because it's one word (pron. Boy-Wanda). You may now continue as you please. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]15:01, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't get your last revert on Eminem's infobox. What do you mean origin is a "personal matter"? He did have origins in Detroit as well as Warren. Detroit was bascially
his backyard and he developed a lot as an MC there. He just lived in Warren. The Early Years paragraph even mentions that he moved over to Detroit later. So it doesn't
make sense why his origin should only be Warren. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Banan14kab (talk • contribs) 03:23, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As obvious the fact is, you need to provide a source that says Detroit is also a valid origin of Eminem. Your edit summary was confusing because it spoke about Eminem's work more than his general life. You need to be more clear and say that he moved to Detroit and later began his career there. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]09:45, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Although I'm sure you haven't forgotten, and I can appreciate that you might be busy, the peer review of 50 Cent discography you commented on hasn't been touched for ages - and you state that you will nit-pick the article further (words to that effect, anyway). Again, I appreciate that you are a busy editor, and this isn't meant to be an unhappy message in any way - it's just a prompt to make sure you're aware that the task is still ongoing. Please respond. Thanks! Sufur222 (talk) 18:16, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My sincere apologies... Do not worry, I will continue the PR with you shortly. Not only my other projects, but school's just started and I have an overwhelming number of projects, tests and assignments. I want to give my last few years in school my best. I hope you understand. Tonight (EST) I'll have some more comments for you. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]19:59, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
could you do me a huge favour? I don't know how to add audio files or upload pictures, and the ones from Rude Boy had to be removed. I'm not worried about an audio file, but would you be able to upload this picture and this picture please? It shows how Rihanna used imagery from a famous artist and incorporated it into the video. Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon!14:43, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The Leibowitz artwork's copyright status is going to be hard to identify. It is available on Flickr, but the uploader is definitely not the copyright owner of it. Do you still want the video still? —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]18:02, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to ask you again, but the picture still fails. Look here and you will see why. If you could upload a low quality screenshot of the same picture which has a length of less than 300?!? Thanks. Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon!12:58, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the first set of updates you've requested. Adressing your most recent comments:
Have attempted to remove as much overlinking as I can: overreferencing seems to have been eradicated, and all the unnessecary artist links in the tables have been removed as well, as I have employed a policy of one link to an artist's page per table (Is this the right way to do it?). However, I'm not sure if you're referrring to the references or the links to other pages, so have looked at both: please clarify.
Had a short look at the referencing, but did not attempt anything major: will wait until the source review to see what specifically needs to be changed or removed.
Sorted out the issue with the column headings.
N.B.: there is one issue with a cross in your previous set of comments that I have adressed, but has not been checked off:
"The problem is that the sentence uses a quote, which has to be paraphrased to remain general. Second, do not use the word "various". Just remove it as it is too vague to mean anything."
If I have misinterpreted anything (especially the overlinking) please tell me. Your continued work on this page is much appreciated.
Hey can you do me a favour? Do you do copy-editing? Well, I completed Toni Braxton discography a few days ago and want to nominate it for an FL, but the prose is quite bad. Can you do a quick c/e for me?? Please? I'm not a native speaker of English Thanks :D Novice7 (talk) 04:48, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks heaps. And, I have addressed the concerns. The 10 million and 40 million thing. Actually, her self-titled debut album sold 10 mil. worldwide and Braxton's total record sales are 40 million :) I'm really scared about this discography. It's huge.
