[edit]Hello, I'm AntiDionysius. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Desmond is Amazing have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. AntiDionysius (talk) 18:53, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Desmond is Amazing. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, WikiChecker0023. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Desmond is Amazing, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. AntiDionysius (talk) 19:07, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
- Why leave inaccurate information on Wikipedia page then? Why can it not be corrected or updated? This is an article about a minor. There should be some reasonable allowance to allow family to edit what is said about a minor. WikiChecker0023 (talk) 19:13, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
- The exception, in the case of articles about living people, is that "Very obvious errors can be fixed quickly, including by [those with conflicts of interest]". So if there are parts that are grossly incorrect, you may remove them. Please don't add new content to the article though, especially not unsourced or promotional content, which both of your reverted edits included. If you'd like to see something other than obvious errors or changed and/or new content added, please request it at the article talk page, with reference to reliable, independent sources. Thank you. - AntiDionysius is correct. That said, good job on adding the picture. I was going to suggest that, but figured per recent dispute you wouldn't be in the mood. If you haven't checked Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing, it may have something helpful. WP:BLP and WP:MINORS may be of interest.
