Ways to improve Suzann Christine

[edit]

Hi, I'm Adotchar. Whitevwins, thanks for creating Suzann Christine!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. As well as removing NPOV violations, there are a few duplicate references, and 3 empty sections.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

A tag has been placed on File:Damon Allen vs. Luis Arceo during their Super Lightweights bout at the Belasco Theatre on October 7, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File permission problem with File:Damon Allen Fresh After a Bout in the Ring.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Damon Allen Fresh After a Bout in the Ring.jpg, which you've attributed to Damon Allen Jr.. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:50, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Clint Coley, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Promotional content final warning

[edit]

I have in addition had to delete two other inappropriately promotional articles, Suzann Christine and Damon Allen Jr.. We do not permit articles to be promotional or "talk up" their subjects. Before you create another article, please ensure that you review and thoroughly understand our policies on promotion, neutrality, and notability. Continued creation of promotional content will lead to a block from editing. Seraphimblade Talk to me 00:36, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Admin shopping isn't really any more acceptable than exploiting our volunteer made and maintained encyclopedia to line your pocket. To be honest, if I had come across the two paid spam articles before Seraphimblade, I would probably have blocked your account as well. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 18:51, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Kudpung Hello. My account was not blocked. I have not been paid to edit and the articles were not spam articles. They are highly relevant and notable individuals. In reference to admin shopping, I'm not quite sure what that means. I am not attempting to exploit anything, but am looking for answers in a setting that seems to not wish for my involvement or input. I am trying to follow the rules. Excuse me for not being 100% up to speed in the etiquette as far as admin duties go, but I did my due diligence in reading through Wikipedia's 5 Pillars, and the guidelines on notability and neutrality. Is it taboo for me to reach out to multiple admins?? I believe I read that any admin has the ability to put back in place a deleted page. Am I wrong on this? I went through a lot of training here to better prepare myself to edit, like a said before. I am simply looking for answers. Nothing about my edit was spam or invalid, so u are mistaken there. I read a lot about having respect for other editors and I exercise this. They same in return would be great as well as some proper direction about what I need to do in order to get the pages back up for me to edit. I have done everything that was asked of me thus far... Whitevwins (talk) 19:19, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry if my comment came across as harsh, but I saw those articles and concur with Seraphimblade's action. Wiki etiquette demands that one first contacts the deleting admin, and when such a negotiation fails, open a claim for undeletion at WP:DELREV. What we call admin shopping is not particularly welcomed, and we have an article about it atWP:OTHERPARENT I did not say you were blocked. What I think you perhaps should do is read our policy on WP:Conflict of Interest very carefully and if you must write those articles, start them over with absolutely no promotional tone whatsoever. This degree of neutrality is however often very difficult to achieve for people who are used to writing promotional material. Paid editing is not disallowed but it is barely tolerated and does not curry favour with our volunteer editing community. Such articles will and do come under heavy scrutiny. I would not restore those articles for you, but of course there may be other admins who are more sympathetic towards paid editing. I can offer to email you the texts of them under the understanding that you would not recreate verbatim copies of the originals. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 19:50, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Kudpung That would be excellent. I just wish to have access to the text for self review. I have not been paid to do anything thus far. I have been trying to simply gain experience on Wikipedia. Having conflicts and discussions such as these definitely adds to the experience here, so thank you for what you and all of the other admins/editors/contributors bring to the table. I will post these articles through the Wikipedia:Articles for creation section instead of going straight to Mainspace. Hopefully this helps. You have been helpful. Please reply with information about where to submit my email address. Whitevwins (talk) 20:01, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have now read the discussion on Seraphimblade's talk page and I must affirm that he has been most helpful and polite, and has in no way been ignoring the issue. To claim otherwise would be improper. What I ask you to understand is that we are volunteers who build and run this encyclopedia and we are not on duty 24/7 - we're also spread across all the times zones of the planet - it's actually 3:30 AM where I am. I'll ask Seraphim if he would be prepared to mail you the articles under the condition that you make your COI articles in the WP:Draft namespace and submit them through AfC for review. That said, he would be perfectly within his rights to decline, whereupon your recourse, if you insist, would strictly be to DELREV and not to other admins. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 20:23, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Kudpung that is understandable 100%. I don't feel that he was ignoring me, but was unresponsive. You are right. He was helpful and polite. I guess I am looking for quicker answers, but need to be more patient. Like you said... we're all spread across all time zones of the planet. Ill take that into consideration. Thank you for your time.

Whitevwins (talk) 20:29, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I very much agree with the advice Kudpung has given you. Paid editing is allowed, as long as the rules are followed, but, well, suffice it to say many of us have had more than one bad experience with it. "Tolerated" is a good way to put it. The offer to email or userfy the articles provided you agree to put them through AfC is pretty much what I would have offered anyway, so it didn't make a difference who you asked. If you'd rather have them moved to your userspace for you to edit as drafts, I'm okay with that. The advice about patience is also good—keep in mind that in general the people you're dealing with are volunteers, so while I will get to people asking things, it may not be in any way immediate. If you are planning on going forward with paid editing, you also may want to make sure you set the expectations of anyone you're doing it for accordingly. You will sometimes have to wait for responses or for things to move through a process. That doesn't even have anything to do with you being paid; that's true for all of us. Seraphimblade Talk to me 00:26, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Seraphimblade (talk · contribs)

Please email, userfy or move articles to my userspace. Either way works for me. Thanks so much. Having them deleted opened my eyes to ways of which I can improve, with editing and with communication here. Thank you. Kudpung and Seraphimblade If there are any other recommendations, I am open to listening. I have not yet been paid to edit, and may reevaluate my thoughts of doing so, so that I can have positive presence here on wikipedia. Whitevwins (talk) 17:25, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have mailed you the deleted contents as we do not want to see them in any Wkipedia namespace. Please rewrite the articles yourself in the Draft namespace, takiing utmost care to avoid any promotional terminology, and do take on board the advice by Seraphimblade and DESiegel especially the comments regarding paid editing. Creating new articles

[edit]

Creating new articles from a blank start is one of the harder tasks on Wikipedia. In future I urge you to use the Article Wizard to create a draft under the Articles for Creation project. There, an experienced editor will review your draft once you think it is ready. Only when a reviewer approves will the draft be moved to the main article space. This avoids the situation where a deletion is requested soon after the initial version of an article is posted. Also, please read Wikipedia's Golden Rule and Your First Article, if you have not already done so. The advice there can be very helpful, in my view. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 22:37, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • First, review our guideline on notability, our policy on verifibility, and our specific guideline on the notability of people. Consider whether your subject clearly meets the standards listed there.
  • Second, read how to create Your First Article and referencing for beginners and again consider if you want to go ahead.
  • Third, disclose your connection with the subject in accordance with the Paid-contribution disclosure. This is absolutely required; omitting it can result in you being blocked from further editing.
  • Fourth, gather sources. You want independent, professionally published, reliable sources with each discussing the subject in some detail. If you can't find several such sources, stop; an article will not be created! Sources do NOT need to be online, or in English, although it is helpful if at least some are. The "independent" part is vital. Wikipedia does not consider as independent sources such as press releases, or news stories based on press releases, or anything published by the subject itself or an affiliate of the subject. Strictly local coverage is also not preferred. Regional or national newspapers or magazines, books published by mainstream publishers (not self-published), or scholarly journals are usually good. So are online equivalents of these. (Additional sources may verify particular statements but not discuss the subject in detail. But those significant detailed sources are needed first.)
  • Fifth, use the article wizard to create a draft under the articles for creation project. This is always a good idea for an inexperienced editor, but in the case of an editor with a conflict of interest it is essential.
  • Sixth, use the sources gathered before (and other sources you may find along the way) to write the article. Cite all significant statements to sources. Do not express opinions or judgements, unless they are explicitly attributed to named people or entities, preferably in a direct quotation, and cited to a source. Do not use puffery or marketing-speak. Provide page numbers, dates, authors and titles for sources to the extent these are available. A title is always needed.
  • Seventh, when (well perhaps if) your draft is declined, pay attention to the comments of the reviewer, and correct the draft and resubmit it. During this whole process, if you face any unresolvable editing hurdles, or cannot comprehend any editing issue, feel free to post a request at the Teahouse or the help desk and ask the regulars. Repeat this until the draft passes review.

Congratulations, you have now created a valid Wikipedia article. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 22:37, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I did not copy and paste everything by any means. In my acedemic setting, we are incouraged to use direct, in-text citations. I have lessened the number of quotations within the article. There should only be 2 or 3 as of now.
