Speedy deletion nomination of Weskus

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Weskus, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Request reason:

Dear Mr. Orange Mike, I received your notification that you have blocked my page on Wikipedia, and wish to by means of this submission convince you that I did not attempt to violate Wikipedia's policies governing new article's, i.e. as the one I submitted. I am new to Wikipedia as a contributor, and are guilty of not having taken the time to study the policy guideline governing new placements, instead, I relied on my arrogance, thinking I know already what is, or isn't allowed, which was wrong.

In hein sight, and after reading my submission again, comparing it to the policy guidelines stipulated, is it very evident that I crossed the line, for which I am sorry, I therefore do not claim ignorance as a defense, but rather my arrogance, which is unacceptable. Yes, I am the owner of a business named Weskus Jou Lekker Ding, and yes, for some other reason, I was under the impression companies and corporations benefit from an article or postings on Wikipedia, how I derived at that conclusion, I really cannot say, but this exercise have opened my eyes as to the role and function of articles on Wikipedia.

My intentions however, was not ill-directed or solely to gain from it, I did intend to build this article / page about our beautiful stretch of coastline, and it's flower paradise, not to mention it's scenery for the world to take note of, and seeing that I am busy with an expensive and comprehensive website covering this magnificent piece of earth, just outside Cape Town, would my article also have provided for some spectacular insight as to our West Coast, in South Africa, hence the reason for adding all TOWNS which form the basis of the area deemed the West Coast of South Africa, every external link would have taken any visitor to a COMPREHENSIVE page or pages on the town, it's history and attractions, and I will not lie, I possibly could have derived financial benefit from such traffic being directed to these pages (RE: Tourists from abroad), but I would have given the visitor far more insight into these towns and it's attractions, as is the case at the present, offered by other Social and website based mediums.

Nevertheless, and in hein sight of what I know now, do I appreciate you deleting my article and blocking my page / account, as I would have done the same, would the roles have been reversed. I respect your decision, and abide by it, and tank you for taking the time still to welcome me to Wikipedia in the way you did, and also the lengthy explanation you supplied was greatly appreciated, I will follow other avenues in pursuit of bringing relevant and comprehensive information of the West Coast of South Africa, as I feel a website alone will not provide fully for this. If you feel, between us, and with your guidance that I can have a go at it again, please do give me that opportunity and I will not disappoint, as I have shelved my arrogance a bit, and actually spend the time to read and understand the policy guidelines, I'm now humble, and ready to give it another go. Sincerely Yours :) Weskus Jou Lekker Ding (Pty) Ltd 11:54 am, 25 August 2013, last Sunday (4 days ago) (UTC+1)

Decline reason:

I'm afraid that nothing in this unblock request convinces me that you have in fact read and understood the relevant policies. If anything, it seems clear that you still do not understand the purpose of Wikipedia, nor the rules which govern it. Until such time as you can convince an administrator that unblocking you will be beneficial, rather than detrimental, to the project, your account will remain blocked. Apologies, gratitude and humility are unnecessary - please read the guide to appeals before posing another request. Yunshui  10:06, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
