Your draft article, Draft:Icekiid

Hello, Werldwayd. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Icekiid".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 02:33, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

The Galleon moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, The Galleon, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. — Amkgp 💬 14:02, 26 November 2020 (UTC)

ur website's down

hey i came to this page because of a redirect from phoenecia to IDM which i thought was funny (i was looking for the civilization, and, imo, that's probably where the search should redirect to but alas)

anyway yeah http://1wxrld.com/ is not working Ike Saunders (talk) 01:25, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. Yes the Phoenician civilization. I had redirected Phoenecia to Phoenicia, then somebody came and redirected it to some obscure IDM artists and it stayed LOL just to tell you how oddly Wikipedia evolves. Phoenicia is the old name of what is known as Lebanon. I am a Lebanese. Another connection was that I was the editor in chief of Montreal "Phoenicia" (see the difference in spelling from Phoenecia LOL) "Phoenicia" our paper was an ethnic Arabic quadrilingual (4 language) newspaper in Montreal that stayed for 10 years before folding. But I think redirecting it to Phoenicia would be the best. But this is Wikipedia, the site anybody can edit.... Regarding 1wxrld.com website (with the x representing the schwa letter) it was my own international music website (it is read "one world" LOL) where I published a weekly World Top 200 and later also I launched an Arab World Top 50. Very recently some programming glitch cancelled everything I had on 1wxrld.com I was saddened. I will make some effort to relaunch the site as it was so unique. I also had separate pages from every country in the world and links to their national charts. Thanks for your interest though. I had an amazing site with internationalbasketball.com and how in one crazy day I decided to cancel it all as it was creating so much headache despite its amazing content. Thanks for your words though. werldwayd (talk) 01:38, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
that sounds cool! bummmer that it broke. and okay yeah i updated the redirect again, we'll see how it goes :) Ike Saunders (talk) 15:54, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Dante Lindhe

Hello, Werldwayd, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Padavalamkuttanpilla, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Dante Lindhe, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dante Lindhe.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Padavalamkuttanpilla}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hello, Werldwayd

Thank you for creating Maktab (education).

User:TheAafi, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

The term "maktab" in the Indian and Pakistan diaspora has a wider meaning. It'd be good if the relevant details are included in this article.

I'd be very grateful if you could add the additional meanings yourself. I know maktab has a diverse amount of meanings in many Muslim countries including in the Arab world and in countries of South Asia (Pakistan, Bangladesh, India). werldwayd (talk) 12:14, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Antti Railio requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Thanks User:Amosflash for your edits. I always feel the Nigerian artists do not get the adequate coverage like European artists. So you are welcome. I actually refined the edits and added some information. The last time I created a page for a Nigerian artist was moved to draft by some other colleague. It was for Ckay which is now in the draft section. I wonder if you could improve on it. He is famous for the song "Love Nwantiti" [1] a brilliant song. Here is the present Draft page Draft:Ckay. I wonder if you can add references to make it more notable and relaunchable on Wikipedia main. werldwayd (talk) 21:15, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
Notice

The article Nationale Top 40 Suriname has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline nor the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi, I noticed you created this page. Do you think it's the same team as "Association Jeunesse Andranik" who played football in the Lebanese Premier League in the 1930s and 1940s? Nehme1499 (talk) 00:31, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

Marhaba akh Nehmeh. Yes it is the same sports club, rather I should say the same youth association (association jeunesse) bwecause it is far more than just sports. A quick note. The main owner organization is the AGBU (Armenian General Benevolent Union established in 1906 in Cairo, Egypt). It is known in Armenian as "Parekordzagan" or "Hopenetmen". AGBU lanched its youth wing in 1931 called the Armenian Youth Association (AYA) (Hoyetchet). You have the French translation "Association Jeunesse Hoyetchet" which is the same. In Armenian, we would say "Hopenetmen-Hoyetchet". The Lebanon branch of AYA Hopenetmen-Hoyetcet, was the first established under the AYU wing and was called in Lebanon Antranik Youth Association (Association jeunesse Antranik) and was established in Beirut in 1931, the same year of launching of the global association AYA. Of course, the first programme in establishing AYA was launching a sports football programme and it was in the Lebanese Premiere League. But the activities were diverse you must understand, like scouts, arts, culture including music. Later on many sports were added like basketball, volleyball, table tennis, cycling, running, athletics etc. They are also very strong in scouting. Of course the other two Armenian clubs did the same but were much more successful, I mean "Homenetmen" (The Armenian General Association of Body Culture established in Istanbul in 1918) and "Homenmen" (Armenian Sports Association established in Aleppo, Syria in 1921). All these clubs are historic and very international covering tens of countries and sports and scouting. Homenetmen is 103 years old, Homenmen 100 years old and Antranik 90 years old. "Hopenetmen-Hoyetchet" and in Lebanon we add Antranik at the end of that always remained a "third". The name is a tribute to a national military leader General Andranik Ozanian or Antranik Pasha. For your records though, I suggest you amend "Association Jeunesse Andranik" to "Association Jeunesse Antranik". According to Arabic transliteration of how we pronounce. Andranik would be Eastern Armenian. We speak Western Armenian. And yes it is the same club that has the basketball nowadays. I think they don't have football anymore though like in the 30s and 40s starting with 1931, that was their main thing. werldwayd (talk) 01:42, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Wow, thanks for the super in-depth answer! I've cleaned up the page (and linked it to its respective Armenian wiki page), what do you think? Nehme1499 (talk) 01:59, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
You have done a fantastic job. I think Antranik Youth Association is perfect for the article. A French one would be called Association jeunesse Antranik. Also presently the Armenian Youth Association redirects here to Antranik Youth Association. But eventually Armenian Youth Association should be about the worldwide association and not just the Lebanese chapter. But for now you have done a marvelous job. By the way, as is the custom with Wikipedia, football and basketball programmes are treated separately as FC and BC. So in the future, with more information added, we may possibly have two additional articles as Antranik FC and Antranik BC. But I am being overambitious. By the way we have Homenetmen, but we also have separately Homenetmen Beirut FC and Homenetmen Beirut B.C.. We have Homenmen, but we also have Homenmen AA Beirut. werldwayd (talk) 03:17, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Yep, makes sense. I would redirect them at Antranik Youth Association (football) and Andranik Youth Association (basketball) (as is done with Sagesse SC, Sagesse SC (football), and Sagesse SC (basketball)), since the official name of the football club remains Antranik Youth Association, not Antranik Football Club. I would look to create the two separate pages if the sections become very long. Nehme1499 (talk) 03:27, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
See Galatasaray S.K., Galatasaray S.K. (football), Galatasaray S.K. (men's basketball), Galatasaray S.K. (women's basketball), etc. for other similar examples. Nehme1499 (talk) 03:27, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
You know I am very pleased by all this collaboration. But nothing new. I was impressed for a long time now by your Wikipedia work. An jadd. By the way I am Lebanese Armenian but presently live in Montreal. werldwayd (talk) 03:33, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Nice :) I'm an Italian of Lebanese descent living in Monza. If you want help regarding anything football related, let me know. Regarding Antranik, I think the articles to create should be:
  1. Armenian Youth Association (based on the Armenian wiki page)
  2. Antranik Youth Association (football)
  3. Antranik Youth Association (basketball)
Do you feel like creating the Armenian Youth Association page? And I'll take care of the football one. Nehme1499 (talk) 05:39, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Ok, I'll do the global one based on a translation of the Armenian wiki and add some references. You do the football. Eventually we will get to the basketball which has a lot of materials actually both for men and women. I have also been to a countless of Lebanese basketball games including Antranik actually. werldwayd (talk) 05:42, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Hey, what is the Armenian wording of "Antanik Youth Association"? Nehme1499 (talk) 06:25, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
It is Անդրանիկ Երիտասարդաց Ընկերակցութիւն (and you may add or coomonly known as Անդրանիկ (Antranik) The language should be hyw (the code for Western Armenian) the language of the Armenian diaspora coming from the Ottoman Empire) and not "hy" spoken by Republic of Armenia Armenians werldwayd (talk) 06:32, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Should hyw also be used for Lebanese-Armenians like Joseph Nalbandian and Mardik Tchaparian? Nehme1499 (talk) 06:38, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Actually yes. Because these names are written differently in hy Armenian. You know it is hy when it ends with "յան"․ You know it is hyw when it ends with "եան". They have the new letter "և" So they write "Երևան" for Yerevan. But we write "Երեւան".. Same with names of associations in hy it may be "թյուն" but in hyw it is "թիւն" . There are many more headaches that came with Abeghian linguistic reforms in Soviet Armenia which the Diaspora Armenians rejected sticking to Mesrobian spelling LOL The mind boggles doesn't it. Just like Arabic in Egypt مسئول In Lebanese or Syrian مسؤول or الياء In proper Arabic على In Egypt علي LOL werldwayd (talk) 06:55, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

Ahh ok, I understand. Can you please fix the Armenian spellings in these articles?

  1. Jerard Ajamian
  2. Krikor Alozian
  3. Levon Altounian
  4. Yeghishe Darian
  5. Agop Donabidian
  6. Vartan Ghazarian
  7. Papken Melikian
  8. Joseph Nalbandian
  9. Oksen Ourfalian
  10. Mardik Tchaparian
  11. Korken Yenkibarian
  12. Ararad SA
  13. Homenetmen Beirut FC
  14. Homenmen AA Beirut
  15. Pagramian SC

Thanks! Nehme1499 (talk) 15:31, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

In such cases, where the actual individual is from the diaspora, we keep the hy and add hyw. For international readers, we prefer keeping the hy. But as hyw is his actual name, we add the hyw. But there are so many names, it is a chaos. I will do those you mention. werldwayd (talk) 19:12, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Ok I see. I'm not an expert on Armenian so I don't know what should be fixed (if anything). If you find stuff that needs fixing, go for it. Nehme1499 (talk) 19:13, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
I have now completed the corrections. I also took the liberty of correcting the Armenian names in English. Unfortunately what happened is that the editor colleagues took the Arabized names and tried to Armenianize them leading into many errors. This is nothing new as you see in our Lebanese IDs and passports. Atrocities of names have been committed. LOL. Nearkly half the Armenian names in such IDs are actually wrong. The media continues the atrocities of names LOL. But we have come to accept it. For example taking the Arabic name, they created on Wikipedia Donabidian. But it's actually Donabedian. They took the Arabized Korken, whereas it is actually Kourken, they said Ajamian whereas it is actually Ajemian. So I have corrected all these as well. werldwayd (talk) 20:47, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Perfect, thanks for your help. Have there been any pages you were unable to move because a redirect already existed? Also, is "Lyudvigovich" the correct spelling for Papken Melikian? Nehme1499 (talk) 21:10, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Lyudvigovich seems ok to me. It is a middle name or his Russian name . But Melikian is perfect. The only one I couldn't redirect properly was Donabedian. It should have been moved to Hagop Donabedian. But I was not allowed. So I moved Agop Donabidian to Agop Donabedian which is acceptable as in Arab medias, he was always called Agop. Hagop Donabedian is the actual name, but Agop can stay actually. werldwayd (talk) 21:19, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Ok, no problem. Let me know if/when you create Armenian Youth Association. Nehme1499 (talk) 21:23, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
As promissed, now we have a full independent article Armenian Youth Association. I have also dealt with the redirects. Another task would be to have a separate page for Antranik basketball in Lebanon. werldwayd (talk) 01:43, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
Antranik Youth Association (basketball) done :) Nehme1499 (talk) 02:09, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
And to think that all this started with Antranik SC LOL werldwayd (talk) 02:54, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

It's been nice collaborating :) Nehme1499 20:36, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Abgramian

Hi, how's it going? I was just wondering, is Abgramian the correct spelling? It's the name of a team that were finalists of the 1946–47 Lebanese FA Cup. Thanks, Nehme1499 01:11, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Abgramian is certainly wrong. The correct name is Pagramian (in Arabic بغراميان) named after Armenian Soviet general Ivan Bagramyan. In the delightful photo of the team one is wearing the Communist Red Star and each player is wearing one alphabetic letter of the general like Բ Ա Գ Ր Ա Մ Ե Ա Ն (Pagramian) The photo is cut at Բ Ա Գ Ր Ա Մ Ե and the two unfortunate players with the final two letters Ա Ն do not show in the photo. My sympathies go to these two absent players LOL But what a photo!!!! As I explained since this is a Lebanese Armenian club, we use transliteration in hyw meaning Western Armenian as Pagramian SC and not hy Eastern Armenian as Bagramyan LOL (if this was a team from Armenia that is). But please keep Pagramian as we Lebanese say it. The Wikipedia article is here Pagramian SC. This is a very interesting club. It was affiliated with the Armenian faction of the Lebanese Communist Party and a powerful team alongside Homenetmen and Homenmen. It was banned by President Fouad Chehab and its important players now without a club were accepted in Homenmen. And they had some great player names. Strangely enough, years later Ararad SA was formed as a continuation, but this was a left wing club not a straight communist club. Armenians are a colourful nation even in sports.... Incidentally I already posted the proper 1947 link at Lebanese FA Cup. werldwayd (talk) 01:52, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
Ah perfect, so "abgramian" was just a typo by RSSSF (they inverted "a" with "b"). Thanks :) Nehme1499 03:01, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi

I hope everything is well with you in these times Werldwayd. Could you take a look at Draft:The Moon Is Rising. Perhaps you want to do some additional improvements that can make it ready for publishing. Eurovision songs are deemed notable.BabbaQ (talk) 08:37, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

Thanks. Yes I am fine. I added some remarks for the song you suggested in the draft. I am also concerned how my work on Jendrik Sigwart was also cancelled after all that discussion. The keep recommendations were so many yet the decision was a redirect with no information on the finalist despite having so many other notable career achievements. In any case, it will be back very soon but I am discouraged from contributing further on the artist. Let other editor colleagues do it this time. I am also looking forward for the Melodifestivalen final this Saturday. I think Swedish selection is very exciting. I am sad for Efraim Leo though who didn't qualify during Andra chansen. I know in comparison, his song was weaker. werldwayd (talk) 09:05, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
Sadly these things happen almost every year with the articles concerning Eurovision. So many editors with just as many opinions about what is notable and what is not. The article about Jendrik will soon be back hopefully. Anyways, yes I am excited for the Melodifestivalen final. In my opinion the best final for years in terms of song quality. Yes I had rather seen Efraim than Klara in the final as well. My favourites are Tusse and The Mamas. But anything can happen. I have created an article about the song Voices , the likely winner on Saturday. Take a look.--BabbaQ (talk) 12:32, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for expanding the article about Ricky Rich.BabbaQ (talk) 20:07, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
I have created an article about Ricky’s biggest hit Habibi .BabbaQ (talk) 20:47, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
Thank you very much User:BabbaQ. Yeh I loved "Habibi" from my first listen and I think it is one of his best best songs. Thanks for the page. werldwayd (talk) 21:25, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

Malta

I have created a stub about Maltas Eurovision 2021 song Je Me Casse. Take a look.BabbaQ (talk) 16:13, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

I took a look and it seems just fine. werldwayd (talk) 20:24, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

Done. Nehme1499 15:28, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
He is born in Kapan, Syunik Province (this is the southern part of Armenia. He even played in his formative years in FC Kapan his hometown team in Armenia (We Western Armenians call it Ghapan, but please keep it Kapan). By the way we've got the birthday correct in our article. The father's name is also correct (Martun Ghazaryan) a very unique name I am hearing the first time and I am Armenian (LOL) like in his middle name exactly as we have it. By the way I met Vartan Ghazarian at the height of his career in Lebanon when he was in Homentmen LOL So this was a great pleasure to see ID and everything. I have added the birthplace myself werldwayd (talk) 15:52, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Very nice, thanks for your help! By the way, have you taken any pictures of footballers, or stadiums? Nehme1499 16:35, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Actually no. But I was a bigger basketball fan and I did take pictures. It's much easier in basketball games. But with Ghazarian I had a nice chat actually. werldwayd (talk) 17:08, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
That must have been nice. I'm thinking of holding an interview with him possibly some day. Nehme1499 17:20, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
He is one of the legendary figures of Lebanese football and did acquire Lebanese nationality to play with the national team. He could have made much more money in Europe but stayed too long I think in Lebanon. You know Lebanese football was never successful internationally whereas in basketball we won great regional and continental championships and qualified three times consecutively to the World Championship!!! werldwayd (talk) 17:24, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I also believe he wasted himself in Lebanon. Same for Babken Melikyan, who won the Soviet first division with Spartak Moscow and played over 300 games in the Soviet top tier. Nehme1499 17:35, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
