WP:UE

[edit]

You have made a lot of changes to articles about French actors and French films, changing names of both films, institutions and people into English. WP:UE is about using English when an established English version exist, not about translating and inventing names. Would you please provide sources that the films you have changed to English are known under those names in English? They most certainly aren't at IMDB. At any rate, changing people's surnames is not justified by WP:UE, neither is translating the names of institutions that don't have an English name. Cheers! JdeJ 07:23, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Von Teese images

Hi, I saw you also tried to have the images speedily deleted at Commons. Perhaps you could tell me your concern about the source? Videmus Omnia Talk 04:07, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The source information is included with the Commons image, along with the OTRS ticket number for the photographer's permission. Exactly what else did you need? Videmus Omnia Talk 04:13, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why is that information necessary? Maybe I'm missing a policy or guideline somewhere, can you please point it out to me? Videmus Omnia Talk 04:22, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contribution. Unfortunately, this needed to be removed from Erotica because it wasn't a useful illustration for that article. Perhaps the Danni Ashe article could use it, or an article for one of her specialties. The Erotica article is too broad in scope to include images of particular performers, but Pornographic actor might be appropriate. / edg 06:38, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A couple of jerks are ruining the Erotica article. Could you please come support the addition of the Student publications section? Student erotica 02:43, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Rich, Young and Pretty, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://us.imdb.com/Title?0043968. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 06:38, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if you can please explain why you have put back the unreferenced tag on this? It's been referenced - see the foot of the article. Also by the way, we don't using these missing photo icons for opera singers as the consensus is that they are ugly and in any case point out something that is obvious. Thanks. -- Kleinzach (talk) 06:16, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Mary Maurice, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://silentladies.com/BMaurice.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

CorenSearchBot (talk) 09:10, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Mary Maurice requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Source material

[edit]

Even if the material you are adding to several articles comes from a publication that is out of copyright, isn't enough of a reason to simply copy and paste. Perhaps you should consider rewording it, so that you don't introduce inappropriate, out of context or "unencyclopedic" content.

From Lillian Walker - "She was a feminine confection composed of dimples, golden hair and curves." Says who? This type of language is very subjective, clearly written for a fan magazine and completely the wrong tone for an encyclopedia.

From Mary Maurice - "She doesn't mind admitting that she was past sixty." The only way she could comment in the present tense is via a seance. The woman has been dead for 91 years, so she's well past admitting anything.

From Mabel Trunnelle - "She was the merry-serious girl whose expressive eyes and face mirror emotions more effectively than a hundred voices." What does that mean exactly?

Copying and pasting is never a good idea, and in this case is a very bad idea, copyright or no copyright. As suggested in the notice for deletion above - you should rewrite it in your own words. Rossrs (talk) 14:33, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:59, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Fritz Lang.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
