Hello, Steele4congress, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:Steele4congress, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page. You can also type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:Steele4congress requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. I'm a candidate for Congress and am trying to set up a page bio about myself. I guess I'm totally lost in how to do so. Steele4congress (talk) 15:15, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please realize that Wikipedia does not accept articles about topics (people, things, organizations, etc.) just because they exist. Existence isn't enough - the topic must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to be considered worthy of inclusion. In the case of a person, they must meet the notability criteria for people; and if they are alive, any article would have to adhere to the strict policy for biographies of living persons. Please note that being an unelected candidate for office does not, by itself, make you notable enough.
However, let me caution you about writing about yourself. It is an inherent conflict of interest; we discourage people from writing about themselves, for reasons further explained at the guidelines about autobiographies, and the essays "Wikipedia is not about YOU" and "An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing". If your motives are self-serving, ie. publicity for your campaign, then forget it... we will never accept something that is blatantly promotional. We only consider what reliable sources with no personal, political or financial interest have said about you. And, if you do happen to be notable enough for inclusion, you will never have any right of ownership or control over the content of an article about you. Please consider your next actions carefully before proceeding further. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:42, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Consider this carefully: I was/am only trying to be informative, not self-serving. And if you don't think if something is published about me falsely or in the wrong context I would file for libel, you're mistaken. Thanks. 😊 Steele4congress (talk) 15:58, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You wrote about your own campaign and linked to your campaign's website. You didn't list your competitors, nor did you link to their campaign websites. That is the definition of self-serving. "Informative" would list all the electorate's options. Cabayi (talk) 07:15, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Cabayi (talk) 15:52, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

No paid disclosures to be made. My income isn't connected to anything having to do with Wikipedia. The reason I was blocked was because the title of my page was about my Campaign, and not me. New, suggested username for myself: wayne22ucmt. It's just a username I've used for myself for about 20 years. I'd like to make contributions about current events, other than about myself. Steele4congress (talk) 16:12, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Until you unambiguously retract the legal threat you made above, we have no choice but to let this account remain blocked, in accordance with Wikipedia policy. ~Anachronist (talk) 05:44, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have renamed your account. I see above that you made a legal threat; this is not permitted, please read no legal threats. We cannot stop you from pursuing legal action according to your rights, but you may not make legal threats on Wikipedia, or edit while a legal action is underway. If you are the subject of a libelous statement on Wikipedia, policy is for it to be removed when identified(see the same link for information on that). If a statement about you is merely incorrect, it will also be addressed per our Biographies of living persons policy, a strict requirement for sourcing statements about living people. To be clear, you don't intend to further edit about yourself, your campaign, or election? 331dot (talk) 19:02, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
