Welcome!
Hello, Syed Wamiq Ahmed Hashmi, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, especially what you did for Cross product. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

- Thank you very much for your encouragement.
Please use the article's talk page
In the future, please use the talk page of the relevant article for discussion of it. In this case, Talk:Inverse trigonometric functions. To that end, you may want to put the article on your watchlist, if it is not there already. JRSpriggs (talk) 07:49, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry for that, but well, I know that already and the reason to put it directly onto your page was to have a faster answer. I once added a post onto the talk page of an article, but received no reply from anyone since. Sorry again to disturb you time and again. I’ll try to avoid it now. Thanks once again. Regards...
- That is understandable, but you should realize that no one is obligated to respond even to messages on his own talk page. Perhaps no one felt competent to answer your question. JRSpriggs (talk) 04:00, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- No problem. I have got it now. You won’t see me doing that again. Thanks.

Hi there. It would be really helpful if you could remove the <div align=right>...</div>

Speedy deletion nomination of Mirza Adeeb
Hello Syed Wamiq Ahmed Hashmi,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mirza Adeeb for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

Your request for rollback
Hey, I saw you requested rollback, and I left some advice at Wikipedia:Requests_for_permissions/Rollback. Here it is: If you request permission for STiki on its talk page, you should be able to get access. I got access to STiki with much less edits than you with background in New Pages Patrol. Then I came here with STiki background, and got rollback permission, so now I can use Huggle. Thanks, Surfer (talk) 10:43, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- You can also "rollback" edits almost effortlessly using WP:TW, which easily allows you to revert changes, restore previous article versions, notify users with welcomes and templates, and plenty of other stuff (more than anyone would ever want to use, probably). Unlike Huggle or rollback, it's freely openly accessible to any WP editor, no permissions required - just activate it through:
- your preferences tab → gadgets → browsing → twinkle → save changes (at the bottom)
- and follow the instructions, the Twinkle preferences/options which comes up when you first activate it can be left as default and changed later (you probably will not need to, I never have). When ready - you'll notice the difference! Regards, M∧Ŝc2ħεИτlk 11:07, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

From your edit summary I understand what you meant by correcting historical Hindi in reference to Hindustani since Urdu is closer to the historic language, wheras as hindi replaced many of the Persian-Arabic vocab with Sanskrit artificially. Article Feedback Tool update
Hey Syed Wamiq Ahmed Hashmi. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.
We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.
Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:49, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
I've modified the template to include Persian, Urdu and Khowar. I'm worried that with the current implementation, things might get out of hand quickly if/when people start adding more Arabic alphabets to it. — Lfdder (talk) 16:53, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
- I was actually thinking of something else... It’d have been better if we could include arguments for the template, e.g.
{{Arabic alphabet}}
should just display the actual Arabic alphabet (28 letters),{{Arabic alphabet|Persian}}
should display the Persian extended alphabet (32 letters),{{Arabic alphabet|Urdu}}
should give the Urdu alphabet (38 letters) and so on... And to add one more thing, the links do not point to the correct place (for Urdu). They lead to the Unicode page instead of the actual article on the letter itself. That needs a fix.—Шαмıq ☪ тαʟκ✍ @ 20:16, 4 September 2013 (UTC)- That's because there aren't articles on those letters. — Lfdder (talk) 21:25, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Image sizes in the Pakistan article
Hello, Syed Wamiq Ahmed Hashmi. Please may I draw your attention to WP:IMGSIZE, which is part of the Wikipedia Manual of Style. It asks that under normal circumstances, we should not specify the image size of thumbnail pictures, as this overrides the preferences of individual users. I request that you stop add image sizes to pictures in the Pakistan article, and revert your previous additions of them. Kind regards, --Stfg (talk) 15:04, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, and sorry for bothering you... I tried to align big and small images neatly with the text so that they line up properly for most readers. Acceptable? If there were a single image or even two of them and three paras of text, adding image size would be problematic to some users. But here the images are four with different individual sizes and little text to handle them properly. So, I force them to be properly rendered for most people who have not set their individual preferences.—Шαмıq ☪ тαʟκ✍ @ 15:13, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. There are many image problems at the Pakistan article, and it has far too many. We always avoid having images level with each other on both sides of the text, as this squashes the text narrowly between the images. There's no need to align images vertically; we normally alternate left and right positioning of images anyway. Please don't try to manually adjust image sizes for users who haven't set preferences. People have different sizes and shapes of screen, and any manual control we try to do will be right for some but wrong for others. Some people alter their font size, too. Almost always, it's better to let the system do things automatically. But please don't worry. You've probably seen on the talk page that TopGun is proposing that we revert the article to a version of early March this year, and then restore the good additions made by later edits. We can resolve the images in the process. --Stfg (talk) 15:39, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

Participation needed
Hi Hashmi, the article Muhammad's views on slavery is very problematic and needs cleaning. I've started a discussion on how to do it. You are expected to participate. Thanks. -AsceticRosé 17:10, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
We're both right. Having looked into it, British English can use the plural form, whereas American English prefers the singular. As per wp:retain and the more important wp:engvar there's no reason for me to change it back. Chaheel Riens (talk) 19:51, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your understanding.—ШαмıQ✍ @ 20:01, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
Gravity - Crew
Please read American and British English differences#Formal and notional agreement before starting an edit war over "the crew is/are" at Gravity (film).
The page was started in AE, and thus "the crew is" should be used, but that does not mean "the crew are" is necessarily wrong.
This message is both at User talk:Chaheel Riens and User talk:Syed Wamiq Ahmed Hashmi.
Cheers, CapnZapp (talk) 20:31, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I didn't know that it should be necessarily singular according to AE... I just knew about the rule for BE that I had been taught for years which requires that "is" be used according to the context here.—ШαмıQ✍ @ 21:31, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- That's the rub - that rule has loosened up (in British English) since you (and I) went to school. Cheers, CapnZapp (talk) 07:16, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
- I confess don't know why you bothered to post this. If you read the post above it's quite clear that both Syed & I understand the usage of modern English, albeit with different intepretations, and I state equally clearly that I won't be changing it again, based on my own re-intepretation, and according to wp:engvar - which I linked, being very familiar with the topic from my involvement over at Top Gear, and Harry Potter. Hi Wamiq.
Not sure if it's just my browser settings, but I can't get the links in your sig to work, for either your talk or user page. Just for info. Chaheel Riens (talk) 14:12, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Please do not move a page to a title that is harder to follow, or move it unilaterally against naming conventions or consensus, as you did to Saare Jahan Se Achchha. This includes making page moves while a discussion remains under way. We have some guidelines to help with deciding what title is best for a subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 15:03, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
don't know what your game plan is,
but Sare Jahan Se Accha is a stable article, please discuss and *gain consensus" on the talk page first. It is no place for on the fly original research. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 19:16, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
A barnstar for you!
The Teamwork Barnstar | |
For your excellent work on Sare Jahan se Accha, I, Fowler&fowler, award you this barnstar, and, in addition, appoint you Deputy Chieftain of the Fiefdom. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 11:26, 24 November 2013 (UTC) |
- Thank you, Fowler&fowler, for this. My sincerest apologies to the Fief for my sarcastic comment at his talk. The Fief has a really good sense of humour. —ШαмıQ✍ @ 14:14, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- No need to apologize. I wasn't being sarcastic, just paying you a compliment. I'm too old and too thick-skinned to be either affronted by anything on Wikipedia or be too serious about anything on Wikipedia. Besides I can sniff intelligence from a mile away, which I did in your posts. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 17:04, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to C (programming language). Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. TEDickey (talk) 10:25, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Ada Jafri
Hello Syed Wamiq Ahmed Hashmi,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ada Jafri for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Verdict78 (talk) 10:07, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
