Welcome
[edit]Hey WAS, welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you hang around for a long time. By the way, since you don't have a page in Wikibooks, I thought I'll inform you here that you're not supposed to use any MediaWiki project to adverise yourself. I'm referring to your jokebook in wikibooks. Instead of making a jokebook in your name you can sort your jokes into related topics.
- Once again, welcome and I hope you consider my advice. --Shreshth91($ |-| r 3 $ |-| t |-|) 4 July 2005 12:33 (UTC)
- I see you haven't really gotten started on the sorting. Could you please do something quickly? Tell me on my talk page if you need help--Shreshth91($ |-| r 3 $ |-| t |-|) 6 July 2005 12:09 (UTC)
A question
[edit]Did you mean to keep some of the edits by 64.180.159.114 as some o them are still left I think. Falphin 18:39, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
Answer: yeah, sorry. That was me, writing from the hotel lobby computer; I forgot to log in first. Those were mine, so I'll keep 'em.
That reminds me... for the next week and a bit (July 10-20) at least, I'm on vacation away from a computer (as far as I know (for less than $45 per hour)). So after I log off now, I probably won't be back on for at least a week.
- Post it on your user page, that is what I'm doing. Falphin 18:58, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, and sorry I assumed it was a vandal because of the type of edits they were. Falphin 18:59, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
WAS again: yeah, I know how it looked... but no, that was me again, with my little mind games.
One joke
[edit]Hey man, thanks for putting the jokes up on wikibooks. I'm sure they'll get sorted at some point. I had a question about one joke:
- Four men are brought before the judge on the charge of vagrancy, but insist that they do have jobs. The first man says, “I’m a cork-slider.” The judge asks what that might be. “I make sure that corks in wine bottles are able to slide in tightly.” The judge passes on. The second says, “I work with him, as a cork-seeker.” “A what?” asks the judge with heightened incredulity. “I look for corks to use in bottles.” The judge, nerves frayed, moves on to the next man, who proclaims himself the cork-carrier, and that he is the one who carries the corks to the factory. Much red in the face, the judge turns to the last man, who says proudly, “Your Honor, I’m the real thing.”
The question is: I don't get it, am I missing something? :-) (be as obvious as you please, I won't be offended)
- Yeah, don't worry. That one is a shaggy dog joke (when there's a big build-up for little or nothing. If you don't know these from experience, they're mostly a test of how well a professional joketeller or storyteller can keep an audience's attention. That joke's gotten me several good laughs, and a few groans of disappointment in the time I've told it in (and that's not a lot; I put that in because of how you can play with it, not for any humor in of itself)). WAS 21:05, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. At least now I know. :-) MShonle 21:25, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
- No problem. It's easier than trying to explain to someone a yard away from you who's just spent two whole minutes listening to that... I should know. WAS 22:16, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
So, this set of Jumper cables walks into a bar. The Bartender says "I'll serve you, but don't you start anything."
A Font walks into a bar. The bartender stops him and says "We don't serve your type here."
A llama walks into a bar. Stands at the bar and bleats. The bar tender serves the llama a Maragarita. The llama laps up the Maragarita, and then pulls a purse off from around its neck, dumps some money on the bar, and walks out. Another patron who has witnessed this whole scene, notes that the bartender has acted as if this was an everyday occurrence. "Excuse me" the patron says to the bartender "Didn't you notice anything unusual about that last customer?" The bartender looks over, and replies "Yeah. He usually leaves a better tip."
A fireplug, a penguin, and a Priest walk into a bar together. The Bartender looks us as they enter and says "Hey! Is this some kind of joke?"

I have moved the story outline for Riders of the Purple Wage you were working on to the talk page. It is generally considered the best thing to do (in order not to show the occasional reader an incomplete draft). Feel free to move it back whenever you think it's complete. --22:58, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

Columbine Edit
[edit]Bowling? How was there a moral panic aimed at bowling? PRueda29 02:53, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
I don't trust Michael Moore, he likes to twist the truth around too much and after watching Bowling for Columbine, and then researching this entire topic and turning it into a featured article, I think he's more of a liar than ever. I'm not conservative or a republican either. I used to believe him, but not anymore. Of course, if you think putting that back in the article would better represent a NPOV, then add it back. I won't revert it, but others might. PRueda29 21:35, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
The problem with it, IMO, is that people will get confused as to why bowling is listed along with the other moral panics. PRueda29 21:46, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
LOL, sorry about being an uptight ass... I've had too many people take my messages the wrong way, so I have to watch my wording. I don't really care either, I was confused at first, but now i know u meant it because of Bowling of Columbine, so whatever. PRueda29 21:53, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

- apologies for lack of clarity of this warning, it was in reference to your edit on Alexis Arquette here [2]. Please do not place personal opinion on article pages, place them on article talk pages. Thankyou Arniep 11:54, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
RE: "A Little Late, Shmuck..."
[edit]- Copied from User talk:Psy guy:
I take it you are referencing this version of George W. Bush (and a few after this one). Other users and I saw this as more than "liberal edits." Also, the "last warning" that you are refering to is unsigned comment from User:Arniep on 13:25, 6 November 2005 (UTC). I left you a test2 message following User:Nlu's message on 22:39, 2 November 2005 (UTC). This is all according to your talk page history. If you are still curious about my message and would like to discuss it in a civilized manner, I would be more than willing to do so. -- Psy guy (talk) 02:57, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
Dangerous Visions
[edit]The two and three volume versions were for the paperback editions. The hardcover versions were in single volumes. You can see that from a check from any used book website, such as Abebooks [3]. BlankVerse 14:38, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- Both anthologies have gone through a number of different printings, including a few abridged versions (the editions that say "XX original stories" in the titles), so you have to be careful, especially if you are ordering the books online. The original printings for both were one-volume anthologies in hardcover (Google on "Contento Index Science Fiction Dangerous Visions" to get the original publishers and publishing dates). The original paperback editions were a three volume edition for "Dangerous Visions", and a two volume edition for "Again, Dangerous Visions". There has also been at least one more recent one-volume trade paperback edition for "Dangerous Visions" as well (still in print, here is the amazon.com link [4]). If you are looking to purchase copies, I would suggest searching on "Dangerous Visions" on one of the websites that cover multiple used book sellers, such as Abebooks, BookFinder.com, or AddALL. If this reply doesn't answer your questions, you will have to rephrase them. BlankVerse 02:35, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Llamas
[edit]Llamas are carnivorous beasts that live in sewers, and under the beds of small children. They can weigh as much as five hundred pounds, and they can fly. Some species are able to brethe fire. They are highly prized for thier horns, which are used in the manufacture of semi-conductor chips.
So, How did you spot me? I was kind of curious how long the edit would last - it was about 10 hours.
Block
[edit]I have given you a 48 hour block: 24 hours for consistently disrupting the site with nonsense edits and attacking other users, and 24 hours for encouraging others to disrupt the site. If you chose to return after your block expires, please refrain from this kind of behavior. -- Psy guy Talk 05:10, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Please stop editing pages with pointless rambling.

We meet again....Re:your edit here who rapidly rose to fame in the early 1990s as a stylish auteur whose bold use of nonlinear storylines, memorable dialogue, and bloody violence brought new life to familiar American film archetypes, in a style which is something like if Damon Runyon directed film.. Please can you tell me whether you sourced the comment in bold from a book, article or some other published source, or, from your own brain? If the answer is the latter, while interesting, it is original research and is not something encylopedias document unless published in a reliable source, see Wikipedia:No original research. Thanks Arniep 03:01, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
DARE
[edit]In regards to these edits you made to the Drug Abuse Resistance Education article. It is Wikipedia policy to not allow original research. If you could add a source for your quotes and additions to the article, it would be preferred. Thanks and take care. --Howrealisreal 16:22, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry. I think it is absolutely necessary to have sourced information on Wikipedia, especially on a controversial topic like criticism of DARE. If you can find some sources to back up your POV, try re-adding the content later. Good luck! Oh yeah, by the way, I have not gone through the DARE program myself, although I was in the Police Athletic League when I went to public elementary school, many years ago. --Howrealisreal 03:27, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

WAS, I have come across many of your contributions that include internal notes to editors such as asking other to include more information or to add a link if one can be would. These types of comments are more suited for article talk pages, not in the articles themselves. Also, when creating an article, please try to include more than one sentense of information. You may find the the Manual of Style to be beneficial to you in the future. -- Psy guy Talk 15:30, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Category:Self-contradictory articles
[edit]Hello, WAS. I was wondering if you would modify your user page so that it does not appear in Category:Self-contradictory articles and controversial . To do this and keep the template, replace Contradict with the following code (don't use the nowikis that you can see when editing this page, they are there so you can see the code).
<div class="messagebox disputed metadata" style="background: beige; text-align: center;"> {| width=100% style="background: transparent;" | width=33px | |This article appears to contradict itself.<br>Please improve the article or discuss the issue on the talk page. |}</div> <noinclude>
This is the code for controversial topics. Replace controversial with:

Psycho - The one problem with the page additions
[edit]I noticed one huge problem with your expanded page about the Psycho novel - The protagonist is named "Mary Crane" in the novel, NOT Marion. "Marion" was added to the movie version since a real person named Mary Crane existed. Also, in the novel, Mary lived in Dallas, Texas. WhisperToMe 06:44, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

This is your last warning.
The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to Prostitution, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Doc Tropics Message in a bottle 17:18, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Please don't be disingenious, I can see from your talkpage that you know full-well what vandalism is. You obviously find it amusing to insert blatant nonsense into WP articles. It is less humorous to those of us who are forced to revert the nonsense. Any further vandalism will be dealt with appropriately; the next step is blocking. Do you really want to go there? Why not focus on making useful contributions rather than creating unnecessary work for other editors? Simply put, be useful, or be gone. --Doc Tropics Message in a bottle 17:33, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The article Test to Destruction has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline requirement nor the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (books) supplement. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
