Indic scripts
[edit]Hi, I realise that you mean well but WP:INDICSCRIPT does not apply to placenames. In such articles, the consensus is that scripts in the official language of the place may be added in the lead section and/or the infobox. I have just noticed that the guideline does not say that, which explains your confusion and probably the confusion of other people also!
I will try to find the relevant discussion at the India Project noticeboard and amend the guideline accordingly. Hopefully, everyone will then have a better grasp of what we're supposed to be doing. - Sitush (talk) 08:56, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
- Sitush, Thank you very much, there are hundreds of "place" pages from where Indic script has been removed, will you help me if I add it to lead section and someone other reverts me giving reason of WP:INDICSCRIPT?--Vtk1987 (talk) 09:01, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
- Can you give me a couple of examples, please. I am trying to find the discussion at the moment, which is proving not to be easy! - Sitush (talk) 09:14, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
- "There is community consensus that the lead sentence of an article should not contain any regional or Indic language script." - under WP:INDICSCRIPT. See also here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:DeltaQuad/Archives/2012/January#Native_languages_in_lead
- Hope this clarifies. kashmiri TALK 10:12, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
- Kashmiri, same rule should be applied to all language, including Urdu. --Vtk1987 (talk) 15:17, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
- Feel free to propose it. For now, it certainly applies to India-related articles. Please now read WP:3RR. kashmiri TALK 22:49, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
