A tag has been placed on Vocalltd, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Removing Speedy at Vocalltd

[edit]

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Vocalltd. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 12:11, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Vocalltd. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 12:14, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with Vocalltd. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 12:16, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Vocalltd

[edit]

Hi there Vocalltd! I saw that you added a {{hangon}} tag to a page which you created, Vocalltd. This is good, but in the process you removed the tag requesting deletion under CSD G11. Even though there is a hangon on the page, the deletion template should remain there. But don't worry, this doesn't mean that the page is going to get deleted. Make sure you edit the talk page of the page nominated for deletion, located at Talk:Vocalltd, administrators will look at your reason why the page should remain before they decide what to do. Thanks - SDPatrolBot (talk) 12:42, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Vocalltd, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. TeapotgeorgeTalk 12:44, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please create a new account with a username that represents only you. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may ask for a review of this username block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this message. Thank you. -- Ed (Edgar181) 13:49, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

VocalLtd is a company in the United Kingdom offering business continuity solutions to large corporations. I work in marketing at Vocal and have been asked to create a Wiki page for the company. My first 2 attempts where wrong, but when iv gone to use the Article Wizard to do it right it now says our username is blocked.

Decline reason:

You gave the reason right there. Wikipedia is not a host for you to advertise your company, and if its your job to write about it for marketing you clearly are promoting it and have a clear conflict of interest Jac16888Talk 14:17, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I would like to edit this page and update information for local Colchester companies

Decline reason:

I am surprised that the original blocking administrator cited only the username as reason for blocking, and invited you to create a new account, considering that your only purpose here was clearly to use Wikipedia for blatant spam, and also considering your other disruptive editing. I am posting, below, advice on how someone who has been blocked not just for username policy violation, but also for evidently using Wikipedia only for advertising, may proceed if they think they have good reasons to be unblocked. I suggest, if you wish to make another request for unblock, that you make sure that you address all of the issues mentioned there. JamesBWatson (talk) 17:36, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. (✉→BWilkins←✎) 12:40, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing, because this account has been used only for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to Wikipedia policy. In addition, your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation, which is also against policy. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a free advertising service.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.

Please note that, in order for your request to have a reasonable chance of success, you must address the conflict of interest issue, and make it clear that your editing will not be promotional, and will not be made on behalf of your business or other organisation.

If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. JamesBWatson (talk) 17:36, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
