Church page

[edit]

Hi! I saw that you created a page on the Ukrainian Christian Pentecostal Church (Bensenville, Illinois), however this page has several issues. I've moved it to your userspace at User:Vnazaruk/Ukrainian Christian Pentecostal Church (Bensenville, Illinois) so you can work on it.

The first issue is that the article lacks the independent, reliable sources to establish where this church is notable. Keep in mind that churches are not automatically notable because they exist - you have to show where there have been things like newspaper articles about the church or where they've been mentioned in books. Primary sources such as things put out by the church or people/organizations affiliated with them cannot establish notability. Brief passing mentions, reprints of press releases, or routine notifications of events won't establish notability either, as these are seen as trivial sources.

Another issue is that the article is only partially finished and requires that the empty sections be filled out and a lead written. You may want to look at articles for other churches to see how they're set up.

Finally, some of the content was written in a non-neutral, casual format. Always be careful when writing, as you want to avoid it coming across as for or against a given topic area. For example, the sentence "People come to this church to find their meaning in life while being able to worship and serve God in a safe place." has some flowery language in it.

I'm kind of concerned that there doesn't seem to be a lot of coverage out there for this church offhand, so I don't know that this would pass notability guidelines on Wikipedia. It's fairly difficult for many organizations, especially churches, to pass as they often don't get the needed coverage. In any case, since this is now in your userspace you'll have more time to look for sourcing and establish this notability. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:03, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
