File permission problem with File:Becca in Brazil.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Becca in Brazil.jpg, which you've attributed to A VRT notice was applied over 60 day(s) ago, but no message at VRTS has been found since this tag was applied.. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:34, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Nominations
Can I get clarification here, I think I'm lost. If an artist is nominated 3 times at an awards show, and only wins 1 award. I should list it on the awards table as:
Wins = 1 Nominations = 2
Not
Wins = 1 Nominations = 3
Is this correct? Faux Ville (talk) 04:44, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- It should be 1 and 2. Versace1608 (Talk) 12:34, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello
Hello. If I want to make use of an infobox in an editing area, is there another way triggering that other than copying and pasting from a similar source?Darreg (talk) 21:28, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
- the first word on the template, add "Template:" as a prefix and search it up. For example for film infobox template, just search for "Template:Infobox film", it will bring up the documentation.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 23:05, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Darreg: I don't quite understand the question. I hope Tubers was able to answer your question. If not, please word your question differently. Versace1608 (Talk) 03:38, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
- I also have the feeling that no one understood the question, but let's just forget about it, I will continue adding it with my usual style. @Versace What do you think about nominating Davido as a good article? I plan on doing that soonest. Darreg (talk) 18:59, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Darreg: You can do that if you want, but I don't think the Davido article will pass the Good Article review process at first trial (I may be wrong). I nominated the Wizkid article once but it failed. I modified the article and nominated it again months ago. It is still awaiting review. The review process takes so long. If you're going to nominate the article for Good article, few references need to be replaced. Versace1608 (Talk) 19:57, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Darreg: I think I understand your question now. You want to know if there is another way to generate the infoboxes without visiting the different template pages. Is this correct? If yes, I don't think there is a way to do this at the current moment. I may be wrong though, but I doubt it. 20:21, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello Versace1680 My name is Adiatu Damilola I joined wikipedia 2014 after winning a beauty pageant In Osun State Nigeria. Ever since, I have tried to create a biography page for my self but couldn't I came across your profile after viewing the page you created for chidinma Ekile. I would like you to create mine too if possible. I would like to know your requirement as regards this.

- Thank you for your interest in Wikipedia. although am not Versace1608 (talk · contribs) but I think I can provide a quick response to your request. However, wikipedia is not a blog or social network of any kind but an encyclopedia. Wikipedia publish articles on the basis of the subject notability and subject of wikipedia article must meet our inclusion criteria. You probably may not have your biography published here and i suggest you should wait until you are notable and someone with no WP:COI will write about you here. I hope you are not offended. Cheer! Wikic¤l¤gyt@lk to M£ 06:59, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Livinglifefufilled: Congratulations on your beauty pageant win and best of luck to you in your future endeavors. As of right now, you are not notable enough to have a stand alone article on Wikipedia. You have not been discussed in significant detail by newspapers and other reliable publications. I believe you will be notable in the near future should you gain national recognition in Nigeria. Wikipedia does not encourage people to write their own biographical articles due to its conflict of interest policy. You did the right thing by confiding in me. @Wikicology: Thanks for the response bro. Your input is always appreciated. Versace1608 (Talk) 14:24, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

- @Jackson Nkwama: Please refer to WP:REFBEGIN for help with adding references to a Wikipedia article. Always keep in mind that any information you add to this encyclopedia must be backed by a reliable source. Versace1608 (Talk) 16:39, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Hello sir, I have a complaint
I have no intention of spamming on wikipedia sir, all i want to do is give references to relevant songs of various famous artists in Nigeria. But each time you delete the links and tell me that am spamming. Please am a little bit confused because other websites give references to songs of artists also. Please could you help me understand why mine is called spam? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Don Tsheza (talk • contribs) 12:26, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, I'm not Versace but I believe I have an answer to your "complaint". Kindly note that links are not included on Wikipedia just for the sake of including them. Links are usually cited as references next to a sentence, to prove what has been written (Websites cited must be reliable for them to used on Wikipedia). However, free standing external links such as Official websites of the subjects are allowed.... NOT links to personal blogs or file sharing websites. Adding these kind of links as references (or anyother as an external link) can be considered spamming. Regards.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 22:00, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

- @Don Tsheza: Please read Jamie Tubers' reply and proceed to the articles Wikicology linked. I hope you find this info useful moving forward. Keep in mind that if you continue to add spam links to several Wikipedia pages, you can get block from editing. Versace1608 (Talk) 22:34, 13 February 2015 (UTC) @Jamie Tubers: and @Wikicology: Thanks for the input. Versace1608 (Talk) 22:36, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

- @Versace: Strange, see the article on Shizzi for instance, almost all references made were links to file sharing websites. Please check it out and give me a reason. Maybe i'll understand better then.
- @Don Tsheza:If it was left to me, the Shizzi article won't be in mainspace. I don't think he is notable as of yet despite producing hits for Davido. I nominated the Shizzi article for deletion in the past and the result of the AFD was no consensus. You cannot use Wikipedia to promote your website. You are not the first person to do that, and certainly won't be the last. If you are not citing anything specific, you shouldn't be adding external links to the pages you choose to edit. If you are not going to admit that you are here to promote that website, then keep in mind that others can read between the lines.Versace1608 (Talk) 12:29, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Prod of Mallawa toro
Hi Versace1608 -- I note you reverted Hamisuadamu07's removal of the prod notice on this article. This isn't allowed -- proposed deletion is reserved for uncontroversial deletions, so if anyone including the creator objects to deletion, it must be taken to AfD. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 22:16, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Espresso Addict: I understand that. I will definitely add an Afd tag to the article. Thanks for informing me nonetheless. Versace1608 (Talk) 00:53, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
- It seems rather unlikely that it meets our notability threshold, but I don't have suitable language skills to check it out properly. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 15:55, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

How are you doing? I'll like to know what was wrong with the sources I've found?
--Sarah 01:14, 9 March 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by S.Kennedy (talk • contribs)
- @S.Kennedy: I cleaned up the article and performed minor copy edits to it. I removed some of the references that were in the article because of reliability concerns. Some of the references were just promotional websites with little to no text. The article is much better now, although it still needs additional citations for verification. I believe the maintenance tag should stay for now until reliable sources are added to verify the unsourced parts of the article. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. Versace1608 (Talk) 01:27, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
- @S.Kennedy: You shouldn't be in a hurry to remove maintenance templates from articles. Maintenance templates are meant to help readers better understand the article. Having said that, you can remove the maintenance template from the Knero article once you add reliable sources to verify the unsourced parts of the article. Hello Brother. The Page Clem Ogus is doing quite well and with time it will introduce more sources as it has gather some reference from Vanguard Newspaper site, Nairaland, View Nigeria and even one of Nigeria most influential blogger Ladun Liadi. More Reliable source will be introduce on the article as times go on.. versace1608 Kindly hold on a consideration on this page please. as we work to get more reliable source to it as suggested by you.. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ddluv09 (talk • contribs) 08:19, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Ddluv09: Thanks for reaching out. At the current moment, Clem Ogus doesn't meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Wikipedia is not a WP:CRYSTALBALL. An article that needs to be deleted shouldn't be placed on hold simply because it has the potential of being notable in the future. If we were going by that rule of thumb, there would practically be millions of illegitimate articles in mainspace. I advice you to wait until the subject gain significant coverage in reliable publications. You should search the databases of reliable Nigerian newspapers before creating articles. Self-published blogs and wordpress sources are not reliable. Versace1608 (Talk) 09:27, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Hello Versace,
I need your advice on the above article. I just thought of creating it and reliable sources confirmed that the institution will commence academic activities on September 2014 but I can't find sources that confirm that it had commenced academics. Would you suggest that I should go on with its creation? Thanks! Wikic¤l¤gyt@lk to M£ 16:52, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Wikicology: If the university meets the requirements of WP:GNG, WP:ORG or WP:NSCHOOL, you should go ahead with its creation. If it hasn't gained significant coverage, I'd advice that you wait a little. Versace1608 (Talk) 21:33, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi Versace1608 – I noticed you had edited DJ Cuppy a few weeks back. There's a mistake in the infobox, which currently has Roc Nation next to labels; she's only signed to Red Velvet Music Group, not to Roc Nation where she's just interning. Would you mind correcting that? I can't do it myself as I have a COI – as noted on my user page I'm a PR representative and DJ Cuppy is my client. Thanks. HOgilvy (talk) 08:36, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
@HOgilvy: Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I will look into it and make the necessary changes. Happy editing. Versace1608 (Talk) 21:52, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Versace – many thanks that's much appreciated, a couple more questions: does the grade of her degree really warrant a mention? I know it's in the reference but in my experience biographies of living persons would normally just include the university/college and the subject. Also the names of all the women in Guardian Life magazine: Yemi Alade, Fade Ogunro, Stephanie Coker, Yagazie Emezi and Ronke Bamisedun. Yemi Alade and Stephanie Coker are notable from the average readers' perspective – there are separate articles on them so it makes sense to mention them – but are the rest really necessary to include? Granted the sources include all this information, it's just a question of whether this level of detail is in the readers' interest – I'd be interested to know your thoughts. Thanks very much. HOgilvy (talk) 08:32, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

If you are going to upload images from Flickr onto Wikipedia, you must make sure that the images are licensed freely. Please visit Wikipedia:Upload/Flickr for more information on uploading images from Flickr. You can read more about OTRS at WP:OTRS. If you want to upload images that you do not own the copyright to, you'll need to contact the copyright owner and request that they license the image under a free license. You can ask for permission by contacting the copyright owner(s) of the photo(s) you want to upload. If the copyright owner agrees to release their photo under a free license, they must fill out a WP:CONSENT form and email it (with the photo(s) attached to the email) to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, or put a creative commons license below the images (if the images are available on their website). I've had contact with Avril personally. She sent me pictures she wanted uploaded and filled out the declaration of consent form, but she didn't own the copyright to the images. The photographers who took the images of her owns the copyright. I am going to try to send her another email. I haven't been active on Wikipedia for the past seven months, and I'm trying to re-establish myself again. As for Victoria Kimani, I supposed you could contact her management or Chocolate City. I doubt they'll respond though. In my opinion, the best option would be to contact local photographers who have taken pictures of these celebrities. Coke Studio photographers would be the ideal place to start. Versace1608 (Talk) 16:41, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
- Versace 1806, Nice signature! I'll read about the copyright and licensing of images in wikimedia. The problem I have is that I don't know the email address of the Coke Studio Africa photographers but I will try to find their contacts. BWT, what about getting the image from a youtube video? Thank you for your assistance. Cheers!--- Nyanchoka : talk 2 me 18:43, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Nyanchoka: I don't think you'll be able to get the email addresses of Coke Studio Africa photographers. You can try contacting Coke Studio Africa, but I doubt they'll respond to your email. It would be best if you locate someone who has deeper connections within the Kenyan music industry. If you upload a screenshot from a YouTube video, it will get deleted eventually if the copyright information provided is insufficient or fraudulent. If the video in question is licensed under Creative Commons, GNU General Public License or in the public domain, then it may be possible to upload screenshots from the video. Versace1608 (Talk) 20:52, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ok I will try my best but the issue about the YouTube images came from Fetty Wap's image where the uploader stated that YouTube content is free as you can see there.--- Nyanchoka : talk 2 me 21:05, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Nyanchoka: Screenshots from that particular video can be used because the video is currently licensed under creative commons. You should be able to use the screenshot from any video if the video in question is licensed under the aforementioned license. Questions about how wikipedia works
Hello again. Hope you have not forgotten me. you told me i was free to ask you question about the rules of editing in Wikipedia. Should i proceed?Acquilawrites (talk) 13:29, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Acquilawrites: Yes, you can proceed. Versace1608 (Talk) 17:25, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. I just have 3 questions that i would like answered.
- 1. How does wikipedia editing work? For instance i have made two edits so far only for them to be reverted. Is there some sort of hierarchy? Are there senior editors who must approve or disapprove of a beginners edits?
- 2.Could you please explain why my edit on Olamide's page was taken down? The contents were authentic backed by references from reliable sites. was it taken down because the content was about a Feud? if so how come other pages like Wizkid's, M.I's and Drake's pages have contents about feuds that haven't been taken down?
- and 3. Why was my edit of the Ice prince broken link reverted? when i asked the editor that reverted the edit he said the new source was probably a "Self published site" What does that mean? and how do i know sites that are not "Self published"? Please i would appreciate it if you did not refer me to the manuals as i have already read them. Thanks in anticipationAcquilawrites (talk) 18:46, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Acquilawrites: Response to Question 1: There's nothing complex about editing Wikipedia. As you can tell, anyone with internet access can edit Wikipedia. There is no hierarchy whatsoever. There are no senior editors who approve or disapprove edits. (There are experience editors who have been granted privileges due to them gaining trustworthiness). New editors have the same rights to Wikipedia, as do experience editors. If someone reverts your edits and you're not satisfied with the person's actions, you can undo the person's revision. Wikipedia has a policy called the three revert rule, which forbids all editors from performing more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour window. If you add information to a Wikipedia article and another user reverts it, you can leave a note on the user's talk page or comment on the article's talk page. Keep in mind that the user is not obligated to respond to you. If for instance you take this civil approach and nothing becomes of it, you'll then report the incident to administrators via WP:AN/3RR. Please consider reading WP:PNB if you want to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia noticeboards.
- Response to Question 2: Your edit wasn't taken down because the content was a feud; it was taken down because user OluwaCurtis considers it vandalism, as evident in this edit summary. Although I don't agree with OluwaCurtis on classifying your edit as vandalism, I do feel that the information you added to the article can be shortened for cohesive purposes.
- Response to Question 3: Your edit to Ice Prince was reverted because you replaced a reliable source with an unreliable one. You have to find reliable sources when you decide to replace dead links. Self-published sources are sources in which the author and publisher are the same. If you want to determine if a source is self-published or not, you need to answer these questions: Who is the author or creator of the work? Who is the publisher of the work? If the answers to these questions are the same, then the work is self-published. Please read more about self-published sources at WP:USESPS and WP:UGC. If you do not want your edits being reverted, you should stick to citing newspaper sources. Websites and blogs that do not have an editorial board is a no-no. I have to refer you to the policies because Wikipedia cannot function without it. Versace1608 (Talk) 15:48, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hmm. Ok i think i got it. Thanks for that bro. it really helped a lot. Bless.Acquilawrites (talk) 16:12, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Photo requests
Versace1608, your userpage says that you're from Liberia. Are you ever in Monrovia, and if so, do you have a camera that you could use for some photos? I've just written an article on the EJ Roye Building, the old TWP headquarters on Ashmun Street near Buchanan in central Monrovia. If you could contribute a photo, that would be quite helpful. Also, several years ago I wrote an article on Palm Grove Cemetery, but it too is lacking imagery; anything you could add would be great. Nyttend (talk) 00:39, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
- @Nyttend: I'm from Liberia but I currently reside in the U.S. I wish I could be of help to you though. If you attempt to contact local Liberian newspapers, you might be able to get them to take photos of the cemetery and building. I'll see what I can do on my end to help with this. Versace1608 (Talk) 01:05, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- Do you have any experience making image requests of Monrovia newspapers, and if so, could you offer advice? I'm familiar with a bunch of publications, such as The Analyst, Heritage, The Inquirer, The New Democrat, and The New Dawn, but I've never had reason to contact them (beyond reading their websites, all I've done is working with printed copies here in the US), and I wouldn't know where to start, especially as some of their websites don't seem to have been updated since the Ebola crisis was new. Nyttend (talk) 01:44, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- @Nyttend: Sorry for the late response. Although I've never made an attempt to contact Liberian newspapers, I do have experience when it comes to requesting images. I normally send templates similar to the ones at this site. Versace1608 (Talk) 22:31, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks! Actually, I've done plenty of image-requests in the past, many of which have yielded a free license. I'm just concerned that people might be scared off by "modify and reuse for any purpose" (what if someone seriously modifies it, and they're credited with creating the image that sets off another scandal like the one about Willis Knuckles several years ago?), so I was hoping that you'd been familiar with discussing that license requirement specifically in a Liberian context. Nyttend (talk) 22:50, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- @Nyttend: If they honor your request and agree to license their images under creative commons, they must understand that there are disadvantages to doing so. I think you can add the part you mentioned when you're sending the request, but please make sure you do not scared them away. Versace1608 (Talk) 20:32, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Please help me in investigating the page Nuru. As a collector and ardent fan of South African, Nigerian and Ghanian hip hop, I have never come across this act. Yet somehow he appears to be in the list of associated acts with African acts such as Sarkodie, Cassper Nyovest, Da LES and others. Most of the citations on his page seem to be iTunes links and blog posts instead of news articles from credible sites. Daniel Keys
Actually any article is worth saving as we are talking about a person or a subject of value even if not presently notable as per our standards. Basically why I edited the Daniel Keys page is because I actually like his materials so much, "Come Closer" for example. To add, I've seen him performing live in a certain event in which he was one of the performers and it just blew my mind seeing his photo and the precious information about his career in this article. I distinctly remember when I heard him, I found him a charming even a fascinating character, a Nigerian who wants to make it in Canada, and in a French-speaking city like Montreal, so an admirable effort. I would actually buy a ticket to hear him live. Plus I have a genuine feeling he will break out with a majour song sometime in the near future and a great video or a collaboration. Imagine the joy that I or anyone could experience once this happens and one feels he or she had it very early on, or contributed albeit in a token way to it happening earlier than anybody else. If he's not notable, well, you still know you are at least supporting an up and coming artist.
One very important reason I edited extensively on this page, is that the article was written in a deliciously atrocious style and language (which is by the way back again in all its shameful glory). Plus that it is clearly written by a "related party" to pump it up. If the article was not gone for some obscure reason, now it will surely be gone in this "original version" that you see now back on our site. It now reads deliciously: "Now With 4 Major Singles Released Worldwide under one year, Daniel Keys has Done What Most Independent Artist cannot do. Daniel Keys is ready to take over the industry globally". Further down: "Daniel Keys has solidified his status as a popular fixture on international and Canadian based entertainment blogs. Daniel Keys has been recognized as one of the brightest up- and-coming multi-talented artists in the entertainment industry. Daniel Keys believes that 2016 will be his breakthrough year".
You know I tried to edit this to make it a decently readable article, even if for a few days. The nice thing about it though is that you can always save it (original and re-edited versions) on you own files and years from now read it again and smile for your effort. You notice I don't defend keeping it as an article here, but since you asked why I edited it, I am giving you reasons, even though personal selfish and far-fetched they seem. Having said that, I dedicate to you this song: "If Merle Would Sing My Song" by a young talented Blaine Larsen. The lyrics are here attached. The song hit hard on me as Blaine Larsen sings "I still could be an overnight sensation - It would only take one sympathetic ear" to fulfill his dreams of success. And that's why I "sing" Daniel Keys' "song" 15:00, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Werldwayd: Thanks for introducing me to "If Merle Would Sing My Song" by Blaine Larsen. I really enjoyed the song. His voice sounds very mature. He reminds me a lot of Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban. I'm not really feeling the "Come Closer" song. I personally feel like the artist is not being original. Sugarboy single Hola Hola was on a notable Radio Chart In Nigeria popularly know as Playdata Charts you can do your research to see or follow the link to their official website [3] here is a screen shot i took
--Nonso Nde (talk) 12:35, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Nonso Nde: If you're trying to create an article about the aforementioned song, please don't. The song fails WP:NSONG and isn't notable to have a stand-alone article. Playdata Chart is not a suitable chart because it is not affiliated with the IFPI and doesn't use Nielsen SoundScan. Even if Playdata was a suitable chart, the aforementioned song still wouldn't be suitable for a stand-alone article. FYI, notability is not contingent upon a music or sales chart. Hello Versace1608
Hello Versace1608, Please can you give me a good note on how to write on Celebrity musician.--Markzy90 (talk) 00:22, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Markzy90: Thanks for reaching out to me. I'm sure by now you understand what notability means within the confines of this encyclopedia. If you want to write about celebrity musicians, you must first gather reliable secondary sources that are independent of them. Sources can be in the form of newspapers, magazines, scholarly journals, and books. Please note the differences between primary sources and secondary sources. If you're writing about John Doe who happens to be affiliated with a newspaper source you're trying to include in the John Doe article, that particular newspaper source is automatically considered a primary source (due to John Doe's affiliations with the said newspaper). Always remember not to create a separate article about a topic (or subject) with no secondary (third-party) sources. If you heed to this advice, you will be able to contribute constructively to this encyclopedia. Below are steps you should take before creating an article about a celebrity musician or any other topic:
- Do a Google search of the subject you want to write about and picked out the reliable sources from the unreliable ones.
- Focus on newspaper articles and websites with sufficient paragraph and sentences.
- Work on creating the article in your sandbox before moving it to mainspace.
- Write the article in your own words in order to avoid plagiarism.
- Make sure the article reflects the content of the sources you find. The references you cite must support what you say.
- Stick to citing secondary references independent of the subject.

- Good Morning Versace1608 can you pls check the article, i just add more reliable source i located on the internet which covers the subject Koker and his hit single also..--Obari2Kay (talk) 07:51, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Obari2Kay: Greetings and sorry for the late response. I haven't been active on Wikipedia in the last few days. I already left a comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Koker (musician). I personally feel it is too soon for Koker to have a stand-alone article on Wikipedia. Looking at his online presence, he hasn't been discussed in significant detail. Having said that, I believe he will be discussed in the near future. Keep working hard and don't get discourage bro. As time progresses, you will get better and better. Don't hesitate to ask me or other editors like Oluwa2Chainz for help. Versace1608 Wanna Talk? 14:45, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
Sourcing for Nigerian music...
I've gotten fairly involved with music articles overall, and I know the relevant guidelines pretty well. Whether or not we agree on the outcome of an article aside, I don't know what's reliable sourcing for Nigerian music, and it looks like there's a WP:WALLEDGARDEN with Choc City Records. To be able to dig that out, I need to figure out if Choc City is a major label, and I need to be able to evaluate their artists. MSJapan (talk) 03:42, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
- @MSJapan: Greetings to you and thanks for contacting me. The record label is simply called Chocolate City, not Chocolate City Records. Chocolate City is a major label in Nigeria; it is one of the few labels in Nigeria that you can actually, by definition, called a record label. There are numerous "record labels" in Nigeria, but majority of them are not structured properly to truly be called a record label. Chocolate City was founded in 2005 by a lawyer named Audu Maikori. According to the label's official website, it is more than just a record label. I do know for a fact that the label has a branch in Kenya, as well as offices in Lagos, Abuja, and Nairobi. Reliable sourcing on Nigerian music can be found in Nigerian newspapers. There are also few websites with editorial oversight that covers Nigerian music. In addition, foreign media outlets like The Fader, The Guardian UK, and Pitchfork Media have discussed Nigerian music. I don't think the WP:WALLEDGARDEN problem applies to every artist on the record label. The M.I, Jesse Jagz, and Ice Prince articles certainly do not have orphaned issues. - No, it probably doesn't, and some of it may have to do with the apparent preponderance of mixtapes - those generally don't count as major releases even from major Western artists (even though there are whole sites that distribute them digitally now), so there's some necessity for me to understand the differences in how the industry functions, as well, particularly if "major albums" means something different. MSJapan (talk) 01:43, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
- I don't quite get how musical releases were derived from articles being orphans. As far as musical releases are concern, there are no differences between Nigerian releases and other releases. In Nigeria and majority of the world, studio albums are considered "major albums". I hope I was able to provide clarity. Versace1608 Wanna Talk? 01:53, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

Kentalky
What"s up Versace1608, please check DJ kentalky Talk page i have stated why it should not be deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kentalky (talk • contribs) 13:12, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Kentalky: I nominated the article for speedy deletion because the subject isn't notable for stand-alone inclusion. Moreover, the article was a recreation of an article previously deleted via WP:AFD. If you make another attempt at recreating the DJ Kentalky article, it will be speedily deleted if it doesn't meet the requirements of WP:GNG. You have been blocked for abusing multiple accounts. Patoranking page edit
Hello Versace1608, I'm Ezegozie I got your message about changes I made to the page "Patoranking". I'm new to doing this and still getting use to using it. I wasn't testing or trying to vandalize the page. I'm suppose to be making official updates on the page as requested by the owner of the page. thanks for reaching out to me, I appreciate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ezegozie (talk • contribs) 08:09, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Ezegozie: I don't know who you think owns the page but for your info, the Patoranking page is in the public domain. No one owns the page. The fact that Patoranking asked you to edit the article on his behalf makes you a WP:COI editor. Please do not edit the Patoranking article again. Wikipedia strongly discourages COI editing. If you want to contribute to the Patoranking article, you can propose changes at Talk:Patoranking by using the {{request edit}} template. Versace1608 Wanna Talk? 00:27, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
Hello , you misunderstand me. If as a member of the society I have verified information that should be on a page and I am willing to help, it shouldn't be seen as me doing it out of selfish interest. I'm in no way related to the person whose page I've been trying to update so I do not understand all what you wrote on my talk page. I have made edits to sections of the page in the last week which has been verified and improved and if it didn't conform with your rules and regulation I don't think it would been allowed. I also mentioned to you that I was new to this and still trying to figure it out so do not take me for someone trying to vandalize a page. What I expect from you is guidance. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ezegozie (talk • contribs) 19:15, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Ezegozie: If you want to make reliable contributions to this encyclopedia, please heed to my advice. Wikipedia doesn't want individuals (or people affiliated with them) to edit pages relating to them. You already said that the "owner" of the page told you to make the necessary changes you made. Since you're in contact with Patoranking, you are considered a conflict of interest editor. This doesn't mean that you cannot contribute constructively to other articles on Wikipedia. This just means that you cannot edit the Patoranking article and/or articles relating to the said article. If you want changes made to the Patoranking article, please propose the changes you want made at Talk:Patoranking. You can do this by using the {{request edit}} template. I know you have good intentions bro and I know you are doing your best to try to improve the page. If you want to build community trust on this encyclopedia, you must learn to abide by Wikipedia's guidelines and procedures. Failure to abide by the rules and guidelines of this encyclopedia can get you blocked indefinitely from editing. I hope you heed to my advice and do the right thing. Thanks for your contributions to this encyclopedia thus far. Versace1608 Wanna Talk? 14:54, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
Hello. I've revamped the contest page into this, based on the new British model. Long term goal, but I've added entries since the beginning of July to give it some initial life. Please add anything you've done then this then too! I hope it proves productive long term. The contests are still planned, but will be more tools towards increasing bulk output in overall goal. It's a permanent goal now, and open! I would be grateful if you could keep a record of all your articles you do there, as I really think seeing the combined efforts will encourage others to create more content too! Please spread the word to the others, cheers!♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:18, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
Invite to the African Destubathon
Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing, whether it's a river in Malawi, a Nigerian footballer, or a South African civil rights activist, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. For those of you who signed up to the North African contest, that will hopefully be held in the new year. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:11, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
