Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Baby Oku may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Flavour N'abania
I note you have removed the "Contradiction" tag I added to this article, without resolving the contradiction
Currently the article says:-
- In 2008, Flavour released his debut album, Uplifted
It also says:-
- Following the relative success of his debut album, Flavour released Uplifted in 2010
I suspect the first one should be N'abania ? Or was this just the name of the single?

File permission problem with File:N'abania's Album Cover.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:N'abania's Album Cover.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:46, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Official Cover for D Kings Men Album.gif
Thanks for uploading File:Official Cover for D Kings Men Album.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:16, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Iyanya's Studio Picture.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Iyanya's Studio Picture.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. ☼ 16:26, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
OTRS needed
The two images you uploaded for use in Wizkid (musician) (Commons:File:Wizkid's Picture.jpg and File:Wizkid live in Brixton.jpg) appear to be made by professionals and both were previously published. Please have the actual copyright owner donate rights to Wikimedia through the OTRS system on the Wikipedia Commons to avoid having these images' copyright statuses challenged in the future. In addition, please modify File:Wizkid live in Brixton.jpg so it is not watermarked. If the only watermark on the page is the BBC logo on the left side, this can be done by cropping.
If copyright clearance cannot be confirmed through OTRS, the first image can be used on the English Wikipedia as a WP:FAIRUSE image, but the second image cannot be used at all in an article about this artist. Please note that copyright-related rules on Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Commons are there largely to meet legal requirements. See WP:COPYRIGHT and Commons:Commons:Copyright. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 00:05, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
- Please have the copyright-holder use the OTRS system to donate all professional-looking images you have uploaded to any Wikimedia project other than those such as your recent album cover uploads to the English Wikipedia which are clearly marked as being used under fair use restrictions. On a related matter, I have left a couple of messages for you on your Commons talk page, Commons:User talk:Versace1608. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 00:30, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

This image is unlikely to qualify for use under Wikipedia's non-free content guidelines. Unlike album covers, which can be changed from "free" to "non-free" to avoid deletion, this image will likely be deleted unless permission is received through the OTRS process. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 04:17, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
Non-free album and single covers
If you upload an album or single cover for the purpose of identifying an album or single and do not go through the OTRS process, then to avoid deletion you must:
- Only use the image in the article about the album or single.
- Keep the image small. Typically 360px x 360px is generally big enough, but if you get the image from an existing online source that's under about 500px x 500px there's no real need to downsize it. If there is, it can be downsized later.
- Clearly indicate in the file's description page that it is an album or single cover. The following template in the ==Licensing== section may be useful: {{Non-free album cover|image has rationale=yes}}
- Include a fair-use rationale for EACH article in which the image appears.
- With the exception of covers for albums that don't have their own name, such as a two-track CD like File:Banky W's YesNo Album Cover.jpg, it's generally a bad idea to use the same image in more than one article.
- If an album or song has more than one cover, it's generally a bad idea to use more than one of them in the article unless there is commentary about the alternate cover in the article (please do not add commentary merely for the purpose of "obeying the rules" so the second image can stay, that misses the whole point of the non-free content guideline).
Please go back through your album- and song-cover images change the licensing and other information to show that the image is NOT a free image and that it complies with Wikipedia's Non-Free Content Criteria. This will prevent deletion. For those images which you control the copyright, I would encourage you to go through the OTRS process so the images can be transferred to the Commons as free images. For images which you do not control the copyright but which you have a personal or professional relationship with the copyright holder, I would ask you to consider asking them to donate their images to the Wikimedia Commons. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 04:37, 12 August 2013 (UTC) davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 04:37, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
- By the way, Wikipedia doesn't have these frustrating requirements just to be mean. We have them to protect the copyright owners, to encourage the donation of free media, and to help ensure that Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Commons are complying with United States law. See WP:Copyright and Commons:Commons:Licensing for more information. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 04:40, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Please do not remove "deletion discussion" templates unless you are the one closing the discussion. If Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2013 September 3#File:DKM Album Alternative Cover.jpg closes with "keep" or "no consensus to delete (keep by default)," the person closing the discussion will remove the deletion template. In general, non-administrators like us should only close such discussions under the narrow criteria listed in Wikipedia:Non-admin closure. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:52, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

File:Banky W's YesNo single.ogg listed for deletion
A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Banky W's YesNo single.ogg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why it has been listed (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry). Feel free to add your opinion on the matter below the nomination. Thank you. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 22:08, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for removing the file from the article. I have tagged it for "speedy deletion" as an un-used non-free media file. It will be deleted a week from now if it remains unused. Please consider tagging it with {{db-author}} if you do not plan on using it in any articles. If you DO plan on using it, please provide a strong fair-use rationale and reduce the quality and duration to just what is needed according to the fair-use rationale you provide. Also, if you do plan on using it, please add your comments to the deletion discussion or it may be deleted anyways. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 23:02, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
License tagging for File:Official Cover for Iyanya's Kukere Single.png.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Official Cover for Iyanya's Kukere Single.png.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:05, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Official Cover for Iyanya's Kukere Single.png)
Thanks for uploading File:Official Cover for Iyanya's Kukere Single.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 16:01, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
You can go ahead it and delete it. I already uploaded a smaller version to comply with Wikipedia demands.
Please add a wikilink to your signature
Since you use a custom signature, it is required that it link to either your talk page, user page, or contributions page (see Wikipedia:Signature#Links). I've seen editors blocked for not doing so. It's recommended to link to at least your user talk page. Almost all editors link to at least their user page and user talk page. If you prefer to go back to your default signature, which includes these links automatically, you may do so. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 03:36, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

DKM (D'King's Men)
Please remove one of the covers from DKM (D'King's Men) and tag the cover you are NOT using with {{di-orphaned fair use|date = ~~~~~}}, then update Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2013 September 3#File:DKM Album Alternative Cover.jpg and let everyone know which file is being kept. If you keep File:DKM Album Alternative Cover.jpg then the deletion discussion will be withdrawn by the nominator or closed by an uninvolved editor as "keep." If you keep the other file, then it will be closed as "speedy delete." Either way, you get to pick which file is kept. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:28, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- Why do I have to remove one of the covers? Can the article not have an alternative cover? versace1608 (talk) 16:43, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- Wikipedia only allows "non-freely licensed" images if there is a "fair use justification" as laid out in WP:FAIRUSE. This policy has legal implications due to United States copyright laws. This generally requires that the copyrighted image be the subject of critical commentary within the article in which it is being discussed. Over the years the consensus has been that albums, DVDs, books, and in some cases individual songs that are marketed as "singles on a CD" or, for historical works, 45RPM singles, can "get away with" a single image depicting cover art without that image having to be the subject of critical commentary. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 20:24, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- If you think the bottom image doesn't meet the "fair use justification" criteria, feel free to delete it.versace1608 (talk) 21:01, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- I read the entire article and found no legal (with respect to US copyright law) or policy-compliant (with respect to Wikipedia copyright policy) way to justify keeping the page, so I removed it from the article, tagged it for speedy deletion (which normally takes 7 days, but with the AFD over 7 days old, deletion could happen at any time), and updated the AFD. Thank you for understanding. I did put the URL of the web site the image came from on the article's talk page, in case anyone wants to see the image. By the way, if I didn't thank you earlier for down-sizing all of those album covers a few weeks ago, I'm thanking you now. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:20, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for P-Square discography clean-up
- Many thanks for the work on the discography page of P-Square after my remarks. I just love P-Square for many years now. I dedicate to you a favourite of mine from the duo brothers called "I Love You" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyv_V26PWng . Plus upon checking your Wikipedia work, I am listening to some stuff by Iyanya ("Kukere"), Wizkid ("Azonto"), Banky W ("lagos Party", "wavin' Flag") and the very talented D'banj ("Oliver Twist" is just a genius, wow). You are filling a great gap Wikipedia with Nigerian music coverage. We certainly need more of this in Wikipedia. My only wish is that songs are not done with processed sounds but by the natural voices of singers. After a few listens, the processed sounds become so annoying.. only if they knew... and avoided. By the way, I remember a page for Styl-Plus I created after hearing "Runaway" and "Call My Name" from them and also have great respect for 2face Idibia with the iconic "African Queen" of his. If you want to do a big favour for me, that would be to create a page for 2face Idibia's "African Queen". This song enjoys world acclaim and has been done by countless performers in appreciation and in remixes by DJs the world over... like Sadiki [1]], a sax version [2] Aines Christian [3] Jango Jack in French language [4] and live from P-Square [5] and many many more yet the song has no article in Wikipedia... Regards werldwayd (talk) 06:42, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- Great to know you're a lover of Nigerian and African music as a whole. I can definitely create an African Queen article. The song certainly deserves one. As a matter of fact, the 2Face article needs more editing. versace1608 (talk) 15:10, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

Parent and child categories
I added Category:D'banj songs to Category:D'banj. Category:D'banj albums was already in this category. There is no need for items in these categories to be in the "parent" category, D'banj. I will clean these up shortly. If I miss any, please finish up. Thanks. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 22:45, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks davidwr. To be honest with you, I'm still confused about categories. I am going to remove my userpage from the cateogry. I just saw it there. versace1608 (talk) 23:49, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
- You'll get less confused over time. By the way, the fact that your user talk page was in Category:D'banj was my fault - I forgot to put a : between the [[ and the word Category. I've replaced it, this time correctly. By the way, the same "colon trick" works for other things like Files and "interwiki" (mostly inter-language) links. [[File:Somefilename.jpg]] shows the picture, [[:File:Somefilename.jpg]] shows a wikilink. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 00:05, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
Wizkid album cover
Only one album cover is needed to identify the album Superstar (Wizkid album). Could you pick one and delete the other? This is necessary to comply with copyright policies.

File:Flavour's Uplifted.jpg
A couple of months ago another editor asked that the border be removed from File:Flavour's Uplifted.jpg. I'm guessing you didn't see that message. I'm letting you know so that you'll have an opportunity to make the fix before someone else comes along and does it. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:51, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
Please reduce the length of this sample to just long enough to uniquely identify it and to clearly show the "sound" of the artist. I listened the full minute and the first 13-15 seconds is all that is needed for the purpose in which the sound file is being used for. Also, if the CODEC settings are not already set to a low quality, please lower the quality settings to just enough that the sound is not so distorted that it isn't recognizable as being this song. This will not only help comply with Wikipedia's copyright-related policies for media, but it will reduce the file size and make it easier for editors with slow or erratic Internet connections to play the sound. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:58, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- I can reduce it to 13 seconds. I don't know how to lower the codec settings. I used a website that converts mp3 sounds to ogg. Can you please upload it since you know how to lower the quality? versace1608 (talk) 15:25, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
- Note: The file has been reduced to 29-30 seconds and has been renamed to File:Kukere by Iyanya.ogg by another editor. I've got it on my to-do list to reduce the quality and cut it down to about 13-15 seconds. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 05:20, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting someone to reduce it! versace1608 (talk) 14:50, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Notjustok.com is not a notable source
Notjustok.com is not a reliable source for the purposes of demonstrating a subject's notability per http://notjustok.com/about/ : This web site is primarily designed to promote music including that of up-and-coming (i.e. likely to be non-notable) artists.
In specific situations where the content was provided by the artist or the artist's representative, it may be usable for factual content that will not likely be challenged, such as track listings, etc. but only in the same way that the artist's official web site is usable for such information.
One of the major problems with Chosen (Wizkid album) is that too much of the source material is provided by either sources that are not reliable or which are controlled by or heavily influenced by the artist and promoters of this album. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:10, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
- The "chosen" article is not written in a promotional tone. You can read the article yourself and see that I am not promoting the subject. The chosen album is forthcoming and I decided to jump the gun and get started on it. Notjustok is an entertainment platform for Nigerian artist just like Billboard and Entertainment Weekly are for American artists. If you don't want me to include Notjustok, I won't but you can't question the site's notability especially when the I am not writing the articles to promote the subject. I am only reporting on the subject. If you read the article, you can tell that I am quoting Banky W; I provided the direct YouTube link as well. The video of Banky W commenting on Wizkid's upcoming project can be found on YouTube as well as on Notjustok. I included Notjustok as an alternative means for those who do not want to go to YouTube directly. I will remove the Notjustok links I added. It really won't affect the article. versace1608 (talk) 23:59, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello Versace, I don't want to say you are wrong about removing the NGR abbreviation that linked to the TGIF chart, but can you show me where on Wikipedia rules that says that Peak Chart Position box is reserved only for a country's official music chart and that no other chart in that country should be appear there under the country's Abbreviation. Thanks. Al Gomez (talk) 21:19, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
- I already left a response on Malik Shabazz's talk page. I personally do not have a problem with you citing/using the "TGIF" music chart. I just don't want people thinking "TGIF" is Nigeria's official music chart. If you go through my user page, you'll see that I focus extensively on Nigerian musicians. I'm mad because a lot of African countries do not have official music charts. I've gotten into arguments with other editors over the concept of notability as it pertains to Wikipedia. I've written articles that have gotten redirected because they didn't meet Wikipedia's notability requirements for music. Once countries like Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya establish official music charts, it would help out the overall coverage of African music on Wikipedia. versace1608 (talk) 02:17, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

That's great. Have a read of WP:ATHLETE before you bother anyone, and the stub tag implies expansion/adding more sources. Merry Christmas. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 14:54, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

Sandbox Cleanup
Good day Versace, I want to concentrate on creating biographical article from now on and I want to use my sandbox in achieving this, but I am having a little challenge cleaning it up because of an AFC article I created earlier. Do you have any idea how I could resolve this issue? Darreg (talk) 08:16, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
- I have removed the afc info from the page. You need to move the page into your sandbox. To do this, click the "move" link and select "user". Gave a reason for your action and select "move page". Versace1608 (Talk) 11:46, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

Cocoa Na Chocoalate
I just listened to "Cocoa Na Chocolate dbanj" song and I really loved it. Is there an article for it on Wikipedia?
Do you think a site with a .blogspot domain name can ever be notable on wikipedia? I mean is using blogspot an automatic disqualification on wikipedia.
PS: As you know quite well there is always no light in Nigeria and my system will go off any moment from now so I might not be able to reply till God touches the heart of NEPA or I get fuel. lolDarreg (talk) 23:45, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
- LMAO. Will NEPA ever change? I missed the good old days. Always keep fuel for you generator. I don't thing that a website with a .blogSpot domain will ever be considered notable. BlogSpots are self published sources. The new song featuring D'banj and others does not have a Wikipedia page. If reliable sources are available for the song, it should be notable enough to have a stand alone article. Versace1608 (Talk) 23:53, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

I think this is long overdue! Good job on your music related articles. Please don't be discouraged :) Jamie Tubers (talk) 21:11, 22 April 2014 (UTC) |

File:Seyi Shay on Ndani TV.jpg
Hi there. Often free images cannot be found online. Here it has long been the consensus that that is not sufficient to allow hosting a non-free image as Seyi Shay is alive, a free image could be taken of here, or someone who has already taken an image of here could be convinced to release it under a free license. Both of these are less likely if the article is populated with a non-free image which is what lead to point #1 in Wikipedia:Non-free_content#Images_2 where it is deemed unacceptable us to host non-free images of (almost all) living people - Peripitus (Talk) 01:22, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
- @Peripitus: Got it! Thanks for clarifying things. I will nominate it for speedy deletion. Versace1608 (Talk) 01:36, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
