News from the cold
Hi there MENTOZ, AL "here",
here's the last IP i found out from your countryman, who removes B-clubs and youth national teams in box just because (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/88.88.13.79). You can see him going at it in Éric Abidal for example.

Tarik Elyounoussi
Hi, I think it is fine to update him with the transfer to Hoffenheim since it is already finalized. No need to wait for the opening of transfer window. MbahGondrong (talk) 16:48, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
- OK, the transfer is finalized, but according to this, he is playing Rosenborg's next two matches. I don't know when the German transfer window opens, but I think it's weird that they are allowed to let him go that soon given that his replacement (Alexander Søderlund) won't join Rosenborg until 15 July. But, in Rosenborg's next two matches, would it be fine that one of the players on the pitch are a current Hoffenheim-player according to Wikipedia? I think we should wait with updating his current club till he actually changes club. Mentoz86 (talk) 01:50, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
- In that case then we should wait, thanks for letting me know about it. Anyway the transfer window for Germany starts 1 July 2013. MbahGondrong (talk) 16:26, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
DYK for Fredrik Semb Berge
On 22 June 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Fredrik Semb Berge, which you created or substantially expanded. Álvaro Arbeloa - Bits and pieces
Hi there MENTOZ, AL "here",
adjusted some of your adjustments in this article, now i "go bit by bit": 1 - no need for his official club profile as a ref (already a link) and don't understand (i try hard as i can!) why we can't link countries, what's the point on having articles on them i ask then? Ah, i don't agree but it stays your way, did not revert you there; 2 - intro: no need for the reference to the 2007 UEFA Champions League Final and say he "cemented" his place in the first team, that's EXCLUSIVELY for the body of article, and he did not even win the tournament; ah, you "corrected" me but it's 98 official appearances, not 93 - it's also two 1/2 seasons but i agree with you there, we can round that up to three :); 4 - storyline: no need to say "season" all the time, sometimes "campaign" or just the numbers (i.e. "2004-05") suffice. The most serious, after all the debates we had over Thomas Schaaf you do the same: i offer two CHAMPIONS LEAGUE links (one for competition and another for season of competition), you merged them; 5 - i should not have written Merengues (but it's hardly a wiki-crime and 90% if not more of the readers know what that is), i apologize, good call on undoing that.
Attentively (and as you can see for my contributions after yours, i'm all about improving the articles to the best of my abilities. Obviously i'm not implying you work to worsen the articles, not what i mean), keep it up --AL (talk) 19:11, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
- Gotcha! Reached further compromise on that 2006-07 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE bit, i think you'll be please my friend. Cheers (P.S. don't know what on earth is going on, but i can't sign!).
- Hi there, AL. First off, per WP:BRD you should refrain from reverting someone who already reverted you. And you are wrong, it is the other way around - no need for an external link when it is used as a citation, and we need a citation for the height. Countries shouldn't be linked per WP:OVERLINK (I don't like it either). In the intro, I simply reverted most of your amendments to the second part of the lead, because when reading both I found the previous version to be better written then your new, and parts of it I didn't understand (like two 1/2 seasons, is that two half seasons or two and a half season). Yes it is needed to say season all the time, 2005–06 makes no sense on its own. The case here is the same as in Thomas Schaaf, you write a poor sentance just to include both links, instead of writing a good sentance with one link - the previous version was also bettter.
At first I only read your post here, but after seing your edits to the article I feel you have a slight ownership of the article (reverting me and only readding what you think is good). - For instance, what harm does the {{Use dmy dates}} do on top of the article (where it belongs), and why do you want the "old" pcupdate and ntupdate instead of the "new" parameters club-update and nationalteam-update. I'm also no fan of calling a player for "full back" instead of "defender" (I believe GK, DF, MF, FW suffice), but when you call this guy a full back, you should add him to Category:Association football fullbacks instead of Category:Association football defenders. Mentoz86 (talk) 01:54, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- Never intended to act like i own the article, sorry if it came across as such, and if i owned the article or thought i did, i'd revert EVERYTHING, i did not, tried to reach a compromise between your edits and mine. Player position: if you write FULL BACK, it says player only plays on the sides, if you write DEFENDER means he also plays in the center, Arbeloa doesn't.
Categories: the categories are GOALKEEPERS, DEFENDERS, MIDFIELDERS, WINGERS (some say that should be merged into MIDFIELDERS, but it never came to fruition) and FORWARDS, so FULLBACKS goes into DEFENDERS.
I tried to explain that "he cemented his position in the Liverpool team" does not belong in the intro, but in the body of article because it's a development on what should be in intro, his career with his teams and his honours, you did not comment on that, preferring to say "YOU ARE WRONG" instead.
PC and NT update new fields? I reverted them by accident after i reinstated part of my edit, sorry about that, have already reinstated the new correct fields.
You have to say "2006-07 (or whatever year) season" all the time? Never heard of that one! To close this discussion, i again beg of you to check the article's edit history, to see i reverted you on EVERYTHING of just SOME PARTS, please. Attentively --AL (talk) 03:11, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- My point is, why do you revert all and then reinstate what you believe is "good contributions" from another editor, instead of simply reverting what you believe isn't improving the article. Another thing is, you changed his position in infobox from Defender to full back, but you removed the fullback-category. Yes, a fullback is a defender (just like the centrebacks is), but I think the categories should be consistent with the infobox. If you don't think the fullback category should exist, you should start a discussion about it at WP:CFD. Mentoz86 (talk) 03:42, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- About WP:CFD it's a novelty for me man, but i'm going to start a WP:FOOTY discussion, please drop a line there. Thanks --AL (talk) 17:17, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
Classic "WP and Vasco" situation, my discussion has been completely ignored, i tried. --AL (talk) 23:40, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- Well, you got a couple of replies and they seemed to agree with me. But as I've already stated, if you don't think the fullback category should exist you should nominate it for deletion at WP:CFD (would be good for you to learn to know the community outside WT:FOOTY :P ). Fredrik Hesselberg-Meyer
I really know little about Norwegian football and what clubs are professional or not and what the full guidelines are for footballers, I started those Norwegian footballers at a time when they were poorly covered and we had articles on fifth league UK players. If he really did only play 7 minutes of pro football then it is a very weak claim, although he was at a professional club for 2 years during which he'd have been paid as a professional footballer. I'd imagine there'd be enough sources to write it but I won't comment at the AFD and will let others decide. Cheers.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 12:02, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah I know you did a great job; I believe you have created almost the majority of article about Norwegian footballers. Because you created articles on every player in the squads of the top-flight club, some of these never actually played and has later been deleted, but I'd rather have 100 articles about Norwegian footballers where 10 are non-notable than having 0 articles :D I'm not really a deletionist, the last time TW edited your talk page ([1]) I realized that the player passed WP:GNG despite failing WP:NFOOTY, so I expanded it for DYK instead. So I do look for sources, but in the case of Hesselberg-Meyer I found none online, and notable footballers after 2000 do have in-depth coverage online. Mentoz86 (talk) 12:37, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

WikiCup 2013 June newsletter
We are down to our final 16: the 2013 semi-finals are upon us. A score of 321 was required to survive round 3, further cementing this as the most competitive WikiCup yet; round 3 was survived in 2012 with 243 points, in 2011 with 76 points and in 2010 with 250 points. The change may in part be to do with the fact that more articles are now awarded bonus points, in addition to more competitive play. Reaching the final has, in the past, required 573 points (2012, a 135% increase on the score needed to reach round 4), 150 points (2011, a 97% increase) and 417 points (2010, a 72% increase). This round has seen over a third of participants claiming points for featured articles (with seven users claiming for multiple featured articles) and most users have also gained bonus points. However, the majority of points continue to come from good articles, followed by did you know articles. In this round, every content type was utilised by at least one user, proving that the WikiCup brings together content contributors from all corners of the project.
Round 3 saw a number of contributions of note. Figureskatingfan (submissions) claimed the first featured topic points in this year's competition for her excellent work on topics related to Maya Angelou, the noted American author and poet. We have also continued to see high-importance articles improved as part of the competition: Ealdgyth (submissions) was awarded a thoroughly well-earned 560 points for her featured article Middle Ages and 102 points for her good article Battle of Hastings. Good articles James Chadwick and Stanislaw Ulam netted Hawkeye7 (submissions) 102 and 72 points respectively, while 72 points were awarded to Piotrus (submissions) for each of Władysław Sikorski and Emilia Plater, both recently promoted to good article status. Collaborative efforts between WikiCup participants have continued, with, for example, Casliber (submissions) and Sasata (submissions) being awarded 180 points each for their featured article on Boletus luridus.
A rules reminder: content promoted between rounds can be claimed in the round after the break, but not the round before. The case in point is content promoted on the 29/30 June, which may be claimed in this round. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. We are currently seeing concern about the amount of time people have to wait for reviews, especially at GAC- if you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Iago Aspas bits and pieces
Hi there MENTOZ, wish you a clean start of this new week,
without further ado: who says i said it was vandalism? I have talked with User:Hedgefall about those edits, he said he apologized me for reverting his good stuff (and i reinstated most of it), and he THANKED me for correcting his mistakes, so the situation is resolved. Yes i know, i should not have used rollback there because the lack of summary makes it look like we're undoing vandalism, my bad.
Ah, but you should read my message from a few minutes to User:Mattythewhite (and there comes the only serious mistake i saw the guy mentioned above make), the CORRECT third youth club continues to be removed from the infobox without one word in summary, don't see people receiving messages for that (be it from MENTOZ, from MATTYTHEWHITE or from ALWAYS LEARNING). Cheers --AL (talk) 15:10, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

"Professional" has been used as a description for at least 2 years - so the way I was looking at it, your removal of it was the B and my re-addition was the R. But you're right, time for the D now. GiantSnowman 10:01, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- Apologies, I didn't realise it was removed by another editor and then later re-added by me. For international players I normally state something like "is a Ghanaian international footballer who plays professionally for Norwegian club Strømsgodset, as a goalkeeper" - but nationality was removed due to the fact he was born in Norway and you know what some people are like over at WT:FOOTY about nationality in the lede, however I'm happy for it to be re-added if you are. First Price
I welcome your changes to the First Price page. I just wonder whether a page just for first price is really necessary. I think a reference to the brand on the Norgesgruppen page is more than sufficient. Especially since there is no First Price page in the NO wikipedia. It's hard for me to believe that a Norwegian brand is significant enough to justify a page of its own in EN wikipedia but not NO wikipedia. (I had actually tried to list the First Price page for deletion, but was not successful.) Any thoughts? Griffindd (talk) 08:38, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

WikiCup 2013 July newsletter
We're halfway through this year's penultimate round, and the competition is moving along well. Pool A's Sasata (submissions) currently leads overall, while Pool B's Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) is second. Both leaders are WikiCup veterans, and both have already scored over 600 points this month. If the round were to end today, Miyagawa (submissions), with 274 points, would be the lowest-scoring participant to make it through. This indicates that participants will need a score comparable to last year's (573, the highest ever) to qualify for the final. The high scores this year are a testament both to the quality of participants and to the increased focus on significant content (eligible for bonus points) in this year's competition. So far this round, both Sasata and Cwmhiraeth (submissions) have made up over half of their score through bonus points, with, for example, high importance FA koala earning Sasata a total of 440 points (from a multiplier of 4.4) and high-importance GA sea earning Cwmhiraeth a total of 216 points (from a multiplier of 7.2). Other articles on important topics submitted this round include a featured article on the Norman conquest of England by Ealdgyth (submissions), and good articles on Nobel laureate in literature Henryk Sienkiewicz, Nobel laureate in physics Hans Bethe, and the noted Japanese aircraft carrier Hiryū. These articles are by Piotrus (submissions), Hawkeye7 (submissions) and Sturmvogel_66 respectively.
Other than that, there is not much to report! If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. The IP is banned user Zombie433 (talk · contribs), so I was reverting per WP:DENY. GiantSnowman 16:34, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
- Denying recognition includes, of course, not giving them any legitimacy by allowing their edits to stand. As for the identity - it's a clear case of WP:DUCK, based on editing behaviour as well as IP location & range. GiantSnowman 19:25, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
- Because it's WP:COMMONSENSE. Also look at WP:RBI - they're both about minimizing damage and drama with vandals. And no, Zombie433 was not blocked for contributing positively (dare I say "of course" again?), he was blocked for vandalism, for introducing false information and statistics, and for mis-representing sources. GiantSnowman 19:36, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
- No, it is Zombie. The only person who has ever edited from that range is Zombie, and the edits were in the exact same style as Zombie. The fact that edit, in your eyes, had merit is irrelevant - we have to DENY. Why are you defending a notorious vandal who has been long-banned? I'm shocked. GiantSnowman 20:03, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
- As I've said, this is a clear case of WP:DUCK - same IP range + exact same style of editing = Zombie. What's so hard to understand about that? You are more than free to re-introduce the material and take ownership of it, but I suggest you familiarize yourself with Zombie's history and editing pattern so that if you come across him again you can immediately revert and also please tag the IP with {{IPsock|Zombie433}}. GiantSnowman 20:13, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
- It's the way he ref-cites things, his preference for the 'SoccerDatabase.eu' website (that's how I found this latest IP/particular edit), the lack of edit summary, the fact he seems to prefer to edit African player articles (though he goes through phases of different countries) - all these add up and indicate it is Zombie, but it is the IP address that is the clincher. As I've said nobody else has edited from these ranges, see Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Zombie433 for a partial list (i.e. what we have actually caught!). - No worries - I have been dealing with this guy for 3/4 years and I still miss the occasional edit! GiantSnowman 10:14, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
GiantSnowman 20:38, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Major Indoor Soccer League
There seems to be some dispute among Wikipedia editors regarding the professionalism of American indoor soccer leagues. Focusing only on the first MISL (1978-1992), this 1979 article about goalkeeper Shep Messing notes he was under contract to the New York Arrows of MISL, playing on loan with the Rochester Lancers of the NASL and making an annual salary of $125,000.[2] Using the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics[3], that comes to $302,000 today. Although that does not prove every player was professional in MISL, according to this New York Times article from 1982, "Minimum salaries were increased to $2,000 a month."[4] That amount, adjusted for inflation, gives us a monthly minimum salary equivalent to $4,800 today for every player in the league. Finally, reputable historians of North American soccer alway refer to the first MISL as "professional".[5] However, if you can find a source from that era (1978-1992) refering to MISL as semi-professional, I would love to read it. WikiCup 2013 August newsletter
This year's final is upon us. Our final eight, in order of last round's score, are:
- Hawkeye7 (submissions), a WikiCup newcomer who has contributed on topics of military history and physics, including a number of high-importance topics. Good articles have made up the bulk of his points, but he has also scored a great deal of bonus points. He has the second highest score overall so far, with more than 3000 points accumulated.
- Casliber (submissions), another WikiCup veteran who reached the finals in 2012, 2011 and 2010. He writes on a variety of topics including botany, mycology and astronomy, and has claimed the highest or joint highest number of featured articles every round so far this year. He has the third highest score overall, with just under 3000 points accumulated.
- Cwmhiraeth (submissions), 2012 WikiCup champion, who writes mostly on marine biology. She has also contributed to high-importance topics, seeing huge numbers of bonus points for high-importance featured and good articles. Previous rounds have seen her scoring the most bonus points, with scoring spread across did you knows, good articles and featured articles.
- Sasata (submissions), a WikiCup veteran who finished in second place in 2012, and competed as early as 2009. He writes articles on biology, especially mycology, and has scored highly for a number of collaborations at featured article candidates.
- Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), the winner of the 2010 competition. His contributions mostly concern Naval history, and he has scored a very large number of points for good articles and good article reviews in every round. He is the highest scorer overall this year, with over 3500 points in total.
- Ealdgyth (submissions), who is competing in the WikiCup for the second time, though this will be her first time in the final. A regular at FAC, she is mostly interested in British medieval history, and has scored very highly for some top-importance featured articles on the topic.
- Miyagawa (submissions), a finalist in 2012 and 2011. He writes on a broad variety of topics, with many of this year's points coming from good articles about Star Trek. Good articles make up the bulk of his points, and he had the most good articles back in round 2; he was also the highest scorer for DYK in rounds 1 and 2.
- Adam Cuerden (submissions) has previously been involved with the WikiCup, but hasn't participated for a number of years. He scores mostly from restoration work leading to featured picture credits, but has also done some article writing and reviewing.
We say goodbye to eight great participants who did not qualify for the final: Piotrus (submissions), Figureskatingfan (submissions), ThaddeusB (submissions), Dana boomer (submissions), Status (submissions), Ed! (submissions), 12george1 (submissions), Calvin999 (submissions). Having made it to this stage is still an excellent achievement, and you can leave with your heads held high. We hope to see you all again next year. Signups are now open for the 2014 WikiCup, which will begin on 1 January. All Wikipedians, whatever their interest or level of experience, are warmly invited to participate in next year's competition.
This last month has seen some incredible contributions; for instance, Cwmhiraeth's Starfish and Ealdgyth's Battle of Hastings—two highly important, highly viewed pages—made it to featured article status. It would be all too easy to focus solely on these stunning achievements at the expense of those participants working in lower-scoring areas, when in fact all WikiCup participants are doing excellent work. A mention of everything done is impossible, but here are a few: Last round saw the completion of several good topics (on the 1958, 1959 and 1962 Atlantic hurricane seasons) to which 12george1 had contributed. Calvin999 saw "S&M" (song), on which he has been working for several years, through to featured article status on its tenth try. Figureskatingfan continued towards her goal of a broad featured/good topic on Maya Angelou, with two featured and four good articles. ThaddeusB contributed significantly to over 20 articles which appeared on the main page's "in the news" section. Adam Cuerden continued to restore a large number of historical images, resulting in over a dozen FP credits this round alone. The WikiCup is not just about top-importance featured articles, and the work of all of these users is worthy of commendation.
Finally, the usual notices: If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. DYK for The Fox (song)
On 17 September 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article The Fox (song), which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that Ylvis were surprised by the international success of their song "The Fox," which was intended only to target their Norwegian audience? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Fox (song). You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

2000–01 UEFA Champions League resume
Hi Mentoz86, I didn't remove some content from 2000–01 UEFA Champions League. I moved it to the other article (2000–01 UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds) and completed it. I make a link to it. Thanks.

Spacing in infobox

- You have an issue with me changing | parameter to |parameter? Jeez. And please use some common sense regarding multiple clubs, it's not going to be '1 club = normal spacing, multiple clubs suddenly bunch it all up' is it? GiantSnowman 08:06, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Re:Karanveer Singh Grewal
Hello, first, let me just admit that I did jump the gun a bit to early with this page. I just saw that he was "notable" and went for it. I know the rules and the general consensus on this and I ignored them on this occasion and I am sorry about that. Secondly, no, there is nothing about him in India. The only reason Harmeet actually even made it to the minds of "select" Indian papers is because he is a Norwegian international playing in the Netherlands and said that he would consider playing for India if the chance showed up. With Karanveer, he is just a guy who plays in the 2nd and 3rd tiers of Norwegian football and has most likely given up his Indian passport. Also, he is probably not so much better than the average Indian footballer so no one really cares.
So ya, the only reasons guys like Michael Chopra, Luciano Narsingh, and Harmeet even made it to Indian media is because they play at high levels and that, when asked, said that they would love to contribute to Indian football. That is all there is to it. Cheers. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 15:23, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
- Exactly. I actually hope an Indian club can take notice in him and potentially bring him to the I-League. It would be good for the league, the club, and him. Lets see, a good player to keep an eye on. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 01:00, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
WikiCup 2013 September newsletter
In 30 days, we will know the identity of our 2013 WikiCup champion. Cwmhiraeth (submissions) currently leads; if that lead is held, she will become the first person to have won the WikiCup twice. Sasata (submissions), Hawkeye7 (submissions)—who has never participated in the competition before—and Casliber (submissions) follow. The majority of points in this round have come from a mix of good articles and bonus points. This final round is seeing contributions to a number of highly important topics; recent submissions include Phoenix (constellation) (FA by Casliber), Ernest Lawrence (GA by Hawkeye7), Pinniped, and red fox (both GAs by Sasata).
The did you know (DYK) eligibility criteria have recently changed, meaning that newly passed good articles are accepted as "new" for did you know purposes. However, in the interests of not changing the WikiCup rules mid-competition, please note that only articles eligible for DYK under the old system (that is, newly created articles or 5x expansions) will be eligible for points in this year's WikiCup. We do, however, have time to discuss how this new system will work for next year's competition; a discussion will be opened in due course. On that note, thoughts are welcome on changes you'd like to see for next year. What worked? What didn't work? What would you like to see more of? What would you like to see less of? All Wikipedians, new or old, are also warmly invited to sign up for the 2014 WikiCup.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Hi there MENTOZ, AL "here",
other than what you have just "received" from me, here's more: i apologize for my heated summary (not directed at you of course, just apologizing to the community), but here's the deal, i am getting ever so frustrated by the lack of summaries here (how many of us use them, 10%?), maybe i reacted like that due to it, only "excuse" i can offer.
About the order of contents: reading your summary i beg to differ, at least in tons of the articles i edit in, either it was CLUB CAREER/INT.CAREER/HONOURS/STATISTICS/OTHERS (PERSONAL, AFTER FOOTBALL, ETC) already or i changed to that and it never got reverted again. Don't know the issue about Isco but, out of respect, i'll leave it like that (with the minor change of STYLE OF PLAY in the last place).
Kind regards, happy editing --AL (talk) 14:20, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- I also get pretty frustrated by the lack of summaries, but such heated summaries doesn't help anyone. Have you tried to place the neutral Template:uw-editsummary (like this: {{subst:uw-editsummary|Isco}} ~~~~) on other editors talkpages? Yes I am aware of that you have changed it in tons of articles related to Spanish and Portuguese football, but that you haven't been reverted doesn't mean that it is correct - I can't understand why there should be any difference between the Spanish and Portuguese bio's and the bios about English, Dutch, German, Italian or Scandinavian football. In those other articles the sections are mainly sorted Club career/Int career/ Int goals/Career statistics/Honours. If you want to change the order of those, I believe you should start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Players. I didn't notice that Style of Play section was in between those two other sections, so thank you for moving it. Cheers Mentoz86 (talk) 08:07, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Russian Women's Football League
Hi Mentoz, saw your PRODding of a number of female player articles. No inherent problem with them as Russia does not feature on the FPL list. I wonder whether there is a case for saying it is a fully professional league. this link seems to indicate it is a professional league, but I am not sure it is enough. What do you think? Fenix down (talk) 09:52, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
- That link doesn't tell me much, as "professional league" is used to describe semi-professional leagues like Adeccoligaen and Football Conference. Though User:Pakhtakorienne digged up some interesting links at their talk-page, which might indicate that the Russian women's league is fully pro, e.g. [6] which according to their translate states: [Russia is another world, it has a professional women's league, which means Russian players can make a life from football and they grow knowing they have future right there.] Sounds to me like it should be included at FPL, but we might need better proof. Mentoz86 (talk) 08:17, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
- You're right, I wouldn't call it proof, but it does seem llike there is some evidence that the league is fully pro, but it needs more investigation. Maybe something we should raise at WT:FOOTY. Unfortunately, most of the sources would be in Russian and my russian I don't think would be good enough to identify them. Fenix down (talk) 09:01, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, it should be raised at WT:FOOTY or WT:FPL. Mentoz86 (talk) 10:02, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
