Question

[edit]

helpme If i revert more than 3 vandals in a day have I violated the 3rr?

There are instances where multiple reverts may not constitute a breach of this policy:

   * reverts to remove simple and obvious vandalism, such as graffiti or page blanking -- this exception applies only to the most simple and obvious vandalism, the kind that is immediately apparent to anyone reviewing the last edit. It is not sufficient if the vandalism is simply apparent to those contributing to the article, those familiar with the subject matter, or those removing the vandalism itself. (For other, less obvious forms of vandalism, please see Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism or Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents);
   * reverts to remove clear violations of the copyright, spamming or non-free content policies;
   * reverts to remove clearly libelous material, or unsourced or poorly sourced controversial material about living persons (see Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons);
   * reverts to undo actions performed by banned users or currently blocked users evading their block;
   * reverts to remove content or links to content that harasses, attacks, or violates the privacy of individuals; and
   * reverts done by a user within his or her own user space, provided that such reverts do not restore copyright violations, libelous material, WP:BLP violations, or other kinds of inappropriate content enumerated in this policy or elsewhere.

Any of these actions may still be controversial; thus, it is only in the clearest cases that they will be considered exceptions to the rule. When in doubt, do not revert; instead, engage in dispute resolution or ask for administrative assistance.--Thw1309 12:13, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a way to recommend to admins that a article be deleated? Or if I just add the tag...what is it?

If it is a speedy deletion candidate (that is, it meets those criteria), you can use a speedy deletion tag. Otherwise, follow the procedure at WP:AfD. --ST47Talk 11:56, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

helpme If someone vandalizes after I have gven them a top lvl warning...what do I do to make sure they are blocked? Vandalfighter101 07:40, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Report them to the Admin Intervention Board. The Rhymesmith 07:58, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alot of the people that Im catching vandalizing are just IP addresses...Is there any way to warn them? Or can we just do that on reg users.

You can warn and report IP addresses the same way as you would normal vandals. The talk page is at User talk:IP ADDRESS --ST47Talk 11:10, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

helpme How do I put images on here?

Check WP:IMAGES. Most of your questions are already answered at Help:Contents -- lucasbfr talk 19:13, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

when i spot vandalism what do i do? do i just take it away?

There's a much easier way: Read about it at WP:REVERT. --ST47Talk 12:55, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

helpme how do i make subpages?

Well, it's relatively easy; if you want a subpage (which you can read about here) for yourself, you can do so by a number of ways, but I'll just list a couple;
    1. Edit your user page and add a link like of subpage or just of subpage and save the page.
    2. Then click on the new link; the text box that appears will allow you to edit the new subpage.

Please note that the link is case-sensitive.

  1. Enter your page URL, which is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Vandalfighter101 and then tack on whatever you want the page to be named.

Hope this helps, Vandalfighter101; if you need more help, just request it.:) Qwerty (talk) 09:24, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

helpme how do i get the vandalism info thing on my userpage? how do I vandal fight without using a program? Do i just skim the articles for something bad?

Go to Special:Recentchanges and look for bad edits by clicking the links that say "diff". Bart133 (t) (c) 19:40, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are scripts to help you out, see WP:JS for more info. --ST47Talk 19:41, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Uhhh... so anyway, I just tnull'd your help me. If you want/need more help, feel free to edit in helpme. Qwerty (talk) 09:24, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay, so it was unresolved previous; sorry about that. Well, I think you mean the Wikipedia Defcon vandalism info thing. Try adding this to it [your user page]: Wdefcon. If that doesn't do the trick, or isn't the right one, again, I invite you to edit my page.:) Hope it helps. Qwerty (talk) 09:43, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Hello Vandalfighter101, welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like it here and decide to stay.

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else how to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. Just click on this link and type helpme followed by your question. An experienced editor will be along shortly to answer your question 24/7. There are also the help pages for self-help and the village pump and IRC Channels where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance. You should also feel free to ask me on my Talk page.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes(~~~~) produces your name and the current date. Please do not add this signature to encyclopedia articles you may edit, however, even if you have created them. Wikipedia articles are owned by the community, not by any one person. Your contribution is credited on articles' history pages. Again, welcome!

How does one...well...get started in wikipedia? if you know what i mean.

Try having a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject User Page Help. They should be able to help you first hand and give some good ideas. -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 18:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also have a look at Wikipedia:Community_Portal#Todo. It should give you some ideas of things to do. If you are interested in vandal fighting, check out Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit.—WAvegetarian (talk) 19:46, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not so hard once you get the hang of it. :)—WAvegetarian (talk) 19:52, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on My beutiful rewards, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template hangon to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Warning vandals

[edit]

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Bart133 (t) (c) 19:28, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ah ok i didnt know about that..so it was vandalism that I reverted right?Vandalfighter101 19:31, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was just referring to vandalism in general. Bart133 (t) (c) 23:11, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The vandal warning ad, and adoption:

[edit]

The vandal warning ad is usually included in the Wikipedia Ads template wikipedia ads. The one I made specifically can be found here, and can be placed on a page (i.e your userpage) with the coding .

I also noticed that you were looking for adoption, I'd like to offer my services with that. For any information you may need regarding my adoption program, just take a look at My adoption center. If you'd like me to adopt you, just let me know on my userpage, and we'll get started. ----HAL2008TK CT 21:03, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your listing on the reward board.

[edit]

I can fix up your user page. Divide your userboxes up by category and list them on subpages. Then link those subpages to list of expandable tables. I'd also link your edit milestones (which, by the way, are inaccurate).

If you're interested in listing any personal information, like your first name, where you live, anything like that, I'd recommend placing an infobox. This also gives you a spot to list your subpages. Or, you can always do a header on your page. It's up to you really. If you'd like me to overhaul your page, drop a line on my talk page. You can check out my userpage to get an idea of what I can do. But, if you're using Internet Explorer, don't even bother. It won't look right. In fact, it may look funny in anything other than Firefox, I'm not really sure. Regards, LaraLove 16:55, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll start on it now, so it's going to be a work in progress as subpages are created and tables made. There will be redlinks for short periods and such. Don't freak out if it looks funny for a bit. It will take a short while. LaraLove 17:12, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, why not look to expand trick shot. You could start with adding some detail to the types of trick shot (e.g. use of triangles, additional cues, baskets, bottles etc), you could go looking for an image at Wikimedia Commons that might be of use (let me know if you need help with that). The most important thing when editing is to be bold. Have a go, try to keep your edits in compliance with the manual of style (although I'm happy to point out errors after you've made some edits) and good luck! Let me know if you'd like me to review any of your contributions. The Rambling Man 13:23, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:2772069827.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:2772069827.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

License tagging for Image:10in1grid.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:10in1grid.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 10:05, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry!

[edit]

Sorry about going AWOL there, but without my prior knowledge, my current location doesn't have immediate, indestructible internet access. Therefore I'm using it on one of it's few working times... which is usually 2-3 times a day. Anyway, so I see that you've been adopted by someone else, you DID do the right thing when you came to my userpage, unfortunately you were left hanging for far too long. Anyway, if you've been adopted by someone else, then great! It's all basically the same. Anyway, if you still want adoption, just scream with a new section on my user talk, and bold the whole thing like this so I know that you have an urgent situation. Anyway, talk to you later. --HAL2008TK CT 10:28, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion tagging

[edit]

Hi, you tagged the article Assassin (game) for speedy deletion as patent nonsense. I would advise that you check the history of the article more carefully in the future, as the version you tagged was a vandalized version. Someone replaced the page with 'hello', then someone else vandalized it, and then you reverted to the 'hello' version and tagged it. Just be more careful in the future. Thank you. Leebo T/C 12:42, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did that because all it had on it was hello

Yes, but you didn't check to see why it said 'hello'. If you're not going to check, I advise that you not tag articles for speedy deletion. Leebo T/C 12:45, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:2772069827.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:2772069827.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:46, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
