Hey there - you seem to have run into a problem on the Herbert S. Green article. Please don't edit war with other editors to keep it in your preferred version, instead, please try talking with other editors on the talk page of the article, or using other methods of dispute resolution to resolve the issue. Just want to make sure you realize that continuing to disrupt the article by reverting and undoing can end up leading to getting blocked and I'd hate to see that happen. Nobel icon debate
[edit]See the discussion at Nobel icon, where some editors are proposing to delete the Nobel icon. Please weigh in with your opinion!Utternutter (talk) 14:57, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Where should I state my opinion? It appears there was already a failed RFC. Is it up for deletion again somewhere? --Eustress (talk) 15:02, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Please weigh in anywhere you see fit. It needs a voice of sanity. Perhaps go to the "Informal Vote" section. They need to be shown they don't have true consensus.Utternutter (talk) 15:39, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion. Not sure if I'm on the side of the debate you want me on (I helped propagate the icon a few months ago in order to establish consistency among all the laureates' articles, but I now think it violates NPOV); I think that WP:TfD (specifically at Wikipedia:Templates for deletion#Template:Nobel icon) will at least provide the correct venue to establish a final verdict. Best regards --Eustress (talk) 17:02, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Joe Weber photo
[edit]That photo appears to have been taken in the mid-1960s (Joe doesn't look much younger than he looked in my baby photos from the 1970s). On what basis do you say that the photographer has been dead 70 years? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.142.50.92 (talk) 21:07, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
The photo is circa 1940. But nevertheless you are right. Seems I made a slip of the brain, as that only gives us 68 years at most. Please remove the photo if you think it is necessary. But I'm sure no one is bothered to sue wikipedia over such an old photo.Utternutter (talk) 03:45, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
There is no way that photo of my grandfather could have been taken in 1940--look at a photo from 1936: http://www.usna.com/NetCommunity/NC/History/ClassOf1940/images/JosephWeber.jpg —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.142.50.92 (talk) 17:28, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Maryline_Blackburn.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Maryline_Blackburn.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? — pd_THOR | =/\= | 18:36, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Under the rationale, it already states: "There is no free equivalent of this image available, so the image cannot be replaced by a free image." There simply isn't a free image. Any images of this person are rare and hard to find. Please confirm if this acceptable. If not, what would make an acceptable statement?Utternutter (talk) 22:32, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:Lynn bari.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Lynn bari.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:31, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Hans Euler.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Hans Euler.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:03, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Christian Ehrenfried Weigel (1748-1831).jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Christian Ehrenfried Weigel (1748-1831).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The file File:JohnDawson1734.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
