[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2016 Riga Masters, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Neil Robertson, James Cahill and Rory McLeod. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

[edit]When a (snooker)player is no longer playing in a tournament - or won't be participating at all - the player is no longer a defending champion, since the player is no longer defending anything in that tournament.
Firstly, remember to sign your name.
Secondly, "defending champion" is essentially the same as "reigning champion", aka the current title holder. Even if he is unable to defend the title, he is still the holder until the winner is decided.--Ui56k (talk) 06:21, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
- First comment looks like it was added by Thomas Kirk Larsen, according to the history. In my own experience of sports reporting in the media, while someone is obviously referred to as a "reigning champion" at any point during their reign, they're generally only referred to as a "defending champion" when they're in the act of defending that title the following year. I don't tend to get involved in updating snooker pages on here these days though, so I'm happy for it to be left with whichever term people are happy with. Edin75 (talk) 18:27, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
"Mark"
[edit]I was kind of expecting it to be removed - but technically it's true. The first name will definitely be Mark - so the same way that flags are pushed forward, I figured I'd do it for the name. But it was a bit of a joke so obviously I won't be fighting the removal (just figured that it wasn't actually incorrect, and would be completed in 24 hours anyway).Richjhart (talk) 15:52, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

2019 Italian Open – Women's Doubles moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, 2019 Italian Open – Women's Doubles, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). There are also multiple empty sections, and only the lede has been started, suggesting that you are still in the process of writing the article. I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

Article leads
[edit]As per MOS and recent talk page confirmation, the article lead should contain the article title (or at least most of it). Not sure why you would remove it from 2019 Wimbledon Championships – Men's Singles. Fyunck(click) (talk) 18:32, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
Well the article in question is a sub-article of a bigger article. This can be easily seen through the Main Article Template.--Ui56k (talk) 18:38, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
- That doesn't matter... we don't actually have sub-pages. The title in the lead is required. Fyunck(click) (talk) 20:05, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
Walkover matches
[edit]Since you chose to propose on removing walkover matches in every Grand Slam competition? I had to remove a walkover match of Djokovic-Veselý in 2016 US Open – Day-by-day summaries and S. Williams-Sharapova in 2018 French Open – Day-by-day summaries just like you did in the current US Open. ApprenticeFan work 09:55, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
@ApprenticeFan: Firstly, remember to sign your name at talk pages. Secondly, I propose to either keep all the walkover matches, or delete all of them, since technically they never happened and can be passed as a schedule change. But the main reason is that people keep putting back the walkover matches in one day but not for all previous days, which lacks consistency.--Ui56k (talk) 07:21, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- OK. Signature added. ApprenticeFan work 09:55, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

Copy-Paste
[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give 2023-24 snooker season a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into 2023–24 snooker season. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Marking edits as minor
[edit]Hi Ui56k! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. wjematherplease leave a message... 17:00, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
