people from Wigan
[edit]To be classified as a 'person from Wigan', they should have been born in, or lived much of their life in, Wigan. Don't you agree? examples: Richard Ashcroft wasn't born in Wigan and never lived in Wigan. The Verve played in Wigan once or twice, but weren't from Wigan in the same way as The Beatles played in Wigan once or twice, but they weren't from Wigan either. Kathleen Mary Drew-Baker, psychologist, 'born in Leigh' and being dead for many years before Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council was formed, doesn't classify her as being 'from Wigan'. Joe Gormley, the union leader, wasn't from Wigan. He worked, and was a union representative, in the St.Helens Area, but he wasn't 'from' St.Helens either, he was 'from' Ashton in Makerfield before Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council was formed. Dave Whelan was born in Bradford and lives in West Lancashire. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.2.129.132 (talk) 21:30, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Blue Goo
[edit]Hey Ueutyi, This is Bluegooster. I was in the midst of writing my article when you hastily added a deletion tag. I do not have the time or knowledge to contest this. I will delete the tag and continue writing. Thank you for your concern. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluegooster (talk • contribs) 04:09, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- 1. Please do not delete the deletion tag, if the article is not eligible for deletion, the Administrator responsible will not delete your article.
- 2. Please read my descriptions that I wrote on the top of this page, click "New section" instead of just add something on the bottom.
- 3. If you want to experiment and draft an article, do it in your Sandbox, not on the mainspace, thank you!

William Gillespie
[edit]Hi Ueutyi
I have added references to the official histories of NSW Rugby League. William Gillespie is NOT a living person. He died in 1945. He is my maternal grandfather and the newspaper cuttings in the scrap book do not include the publications or the dates. we can determine the publications by the journalist and the dates referred to in the stories.
Cool?

The Bluegooster
[edit]U. When you first looked at my page, it was incomplete and in progress. I have now finished writing my article and you can review it. I would be curious to know why you think it doesn't fit Wikipedia's criteria? It's written in a factual style with complete references. Blue Goo is a soil type found only (so far) on the Northern California coast. So all my research/references are very location specific, i.e. people not from the area will be unfamiliar with Blue Goo. That's largely why I wanted to write this, to expose others to the fascinating world of Blue Goo.
What should I change to make it more acceptable?
- You can remove the tag yourself if you think it's acceptable. Indeed it is. Ueutyi (talk) 08:25, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- Well no U. I asked you what you found unacceptable about it? I wouldn't want to spew misinformation on wikipedia. Why did you flag it, what is wrong with it? As I said, it is written factually with references from local scientists who study the area. You do not, nor does most people reading wikipedia articles. Once again that's why I wrote this article to spread the bluey gooey message to all who can read. If you are not a soil scientist or geologist from Humboldt County who has studied Blue Goo than please don't pretend to be knowledgeable on this subject. You are not (yet). Thank you for your service to wikipedia, please remain aware of what you do not know. Sincerly the Bluegooster. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluegooster (talk • contribs) 03:18, 19 December 2015 (UTC)
- You need to have proof that your article is significant enough to be included into the Wikipedia. Clearly your first revision which contains only three sentences does not meet that requirement. Your current artice does, however, meet that requirement. See WP:GNG for details. Ueutyi (talk) 03:30, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Haitian elections
[edit]You're wrong in some aspects. The parliamentary elections hadn't been cancelled at all in the constituencies that you say. The results link that you published on my talkpage are from the first round, on where the elections were cancelled on the 18 constituencies, and then the first-round voting was repeated when all the remaining constituencies were voting for their second round. And the secound round of the constituencies that voted again should took place at the same date with the second round of the presidential election, and because that was cancelled is that there no definitive results still available for that constituencies. So, the parliamentary elections are not concluded at all, and any diagram or results, or composition of the Chamber it's still incomplete and inaccurate. That's why I reverted your edits, because the total seats hasn't been awarded yet, because we still have to know the results of the second round of voting on the constituencies that cancelled their election when it took place in all the rest.
This table could explain you more clearly the dates and situation:
Date | Election |
---|---|
9 August | First round of parliamentary election (cancelled in 22 constituencies) |
25 October | First round of presidential election Second round of parliamentary election (constituencies that hadn't cancelled the 9 August election) First round of parliamentary election (22 constituencies that cancelled the 9 August election) |
27 December (postponed) | Second round of presidential election Second round of parliamentary election (22 constituencies that cancelled the 9 August election) |
- Thanks, it seems my understanding of French is not good enough then.. Ueutyi (talk) 21:14, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
And I reverted your results section from the Chamber of Deputies' article because results are still incomplete. And in this link you could confirm that the postponed elections are the presidential (second round) and the remaining legislative elections [1]. Regards. --Sfs90 (talk) 16:37, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
Copying from public domain material requires proper attribution
[edit]Hi Ueutyi. I see you created an article Kin W. Moy which includes material from a State Department document http://photos.state.gov/libraries/ait-taiwan/171414/ait-portrait/dir_moy_biography.pdf. That's okay, as long as you give attribution. For public domain material, you should add the template {{PD-notice}} immediately after your citation. Please ensure you do this in the future when copying from public domain material, whether it was published by the US Government or is PD for some other reason. Speedy deletion nomination of Adra Machan Visilu
[edit]A tag has been placed on Adra Machan Visilu requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- Wikimedia no longer uses visitor statistics from comScore. [2]
- You can make interactive graphs with the Graph extension. There is now a tutorial for how to do this. [3]
Problems
- Some pages do not turn in up in categories where they should be. This is because link tables are sometimes not populated. [4]
Changes this week
- The Nuke extension will work with Flow. This will make it easier to handle spam in Flow. [5]
- New file uploads will now be patrollable. [6]
- Internet Explorer 8 will no longer have JavaScript support. You will still be able to browse and edit Wikipedia if you use Internet Explorer 8, but will not be able to use some features. This can be solved by upgrading to a newer version or switching to a different browser. [7][8]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 12 January at 20:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- URLs in the recent changes IRC feed will no longer be rewritten to unencrypted HTTP. This could be a breaking change for bots dependent on the IRC feed. [9]
- The edit tabs for the wikitext editor and the visual editor will be combined to one single edit tab. You will be able to choose which one you prefer. If you are not logged in, your choice will be saved as a cookie in your browser. You can test the single edit tab. [10][11]
- There is a beta feature that adds links to the subject on other Wikimedia projects. This works much like the links to for example Wikipedia articles in other languages. It will go out of beta testing and be enabled for everyone in January. Wikis that don't want this can decide to have it disabled. [12][13]
- The difference between "alerts" and "messages" notifications is unclear to some. The developers want feedback at the Phabricator task or on MediaWiki.org so they can make this better. You can give feedback in your language if you can't write in English.

Equation of love article
[edit]The person alleged to have recorded this song has a large article on them. I don't know much about current teenpop music and I can't listen to music right now to check this is a real song but if the song article is a hoax the article on the artist may need attention too. Blythwood (talk) 05:27, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- Song is real, but very unpopular, I can find hardly any source. G3 is probably incorrect but A9 still applies. Ueutyi (talk) 05:41, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- Surely it doesn't because there is an article for the artist? I've relisted for prod deletion. Blythwood (talk) 05:43, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- The artist is very unpopular as well. Most viewed YouTube video only has 3000 views. In no way that he meets WP:ENT. Recent changes
- You can now follow when pages are added or removed from a category on German Wikipedia. The plan is to add it to Wikimedia Commons and other Wikipedias this week. [18][19]
- Administrators can hide individual entries of a page with RevisionDelete. There is now a button to choose "all", "none" or "inverse" in Special:Log. The article history will get the same buttons soon. Wikis that have done this locally with JavaScript will be able to remove that code. [20]
Changes this week
- You will be able to see the references when you preview a section you are editing. This will happen even if there is no <references /> tag in that section. [21]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 26 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 27 January. It will be on all wikis from 28 January (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 26 January at 20:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- There is now an extension called ArticlePlaceholder. It can automatically generate content on Wikipedia with data from Wikidata if there is no Wikipedia article. It will have a tag to remind the reader it is not an article and ask the reader to create one. The developer is now looking for smaller Wikipedias that want to try the extension. [22]
- The OTRS system will be upgraded. The plan is to do this on 3 February at 08:00 (UTC). It will probably take 6 to 8 hours. OTRS will be down during the upgrade. [23]
- Users will soon be automatically congratulated when they reach some edit count milestones. [24]

Problems
- Sites with a
wikimedia.org
address were by mistake redirected to the Wikimedia Foundation wiki on 26 January. This included Meta and Wikimedia Commons. The mistake was fixed after an hour. [25] - Some users had problems logging in and out around 22 January. Bots also had problems and edit previews did not work properly. This was because of problems related to the new component SessionManager. It was undone on 23 January. [26][27]
- Because of new problems with SessionManager the latest version of MediaWiki was removed from the Wikimedia wikis again on 31 January. The new version this week will be without SessionManager. [28]
Changes this week
- The page history will get a help link. This will go to Help:Page history on Meta. Wikis can exchange it for a link to their local pages. [29]
- Notifications will only show part of a page name if it is very long. You will also have another way to mark notifications as read. [30][31]
- The Universal Language Selector input methods are now available with the visual editor. This means many who write in non-Latin scripts can now use the visual editor. [32]
- The visual editor will now give you more tools to edit tables. You can move rows and columns in a table and copy parts of tables to make new ones. You can also copy and paste more than one cell at the same time. [33][34][35]
- The visual editor has a new warning message when you leave a page you are editing without saving. Non-English wikis might need to translate it. [36][37]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 2 February. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 3 February. It will be on all wikis from 4 February (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 2 February at 20:00 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the next meeting with the Architecture committee. The topic this week is expiring watch list entries. The meeting will be on 3 February at 22:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The
rest.wikimedia.org
domain will be shut down. This is planned to happen in March. You should use/api/rest_v1/
at each individual project domain instead. [38]

Brookside edit
[edit]Hi, why did you change my recent edit to the Brookside wikepedia? Brookside is no longer a soap as it was axed, therefore it should say brookside 'was a soap'. If you go and look for other axed soap operas like family affairs, Eldarado etc you will see they also say 'was a soap' They are no longer being filmed or aired on tv and have ended. So your edit is wrong. Brookside is no longer a running soap opera 'IT WAS' but not any longer.
Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Craigb76 (talk • contribs) 00:21, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

rollback
[edit]Hi Ueutyi. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback.
