Spam in Modelzone

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Modelzone, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Modelzone is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Modelzone, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Orphaned non-free media (File:Pro Tools HD.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Pro Tools HD.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:19, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

PNG over GIF

Hi, I notice that you have done alot of work on the Woolworths page that I have created, I was just interested to know, why you prefer PNG images over a GIF, obviously if I can get an understanding of the benefits, I will upload all future images in the PNG format. Whilst being in university, I studied the differences between a GIF and JPG but have no technical knowledge on PNG files. --█▄█▄█ █▄█▄█ █▄▄ 14:05, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Ghostboat

You moved Ghostboat (2006) to Ghostboat (2006 film). Unless you know of another film by that name, I believe the article title should be "Ghostboat (film)". Thoughts? Ronstew (talk) 21:38, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

The film is based on a book by the same name, so I think "(film)" is appropriate, but nobody would quibble if we just went with Ghostboat. I'll leave the doing to you, if you don't mind, just because I have not done that very often.
BTW, I lived for a short while in Hartlepool. Your neck of the woods, I believe. Funny to see it in world news this week with that aircraft carrier. Ronstew (talk) 23:14, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Can you please add a screenshot?

Hello Mike,

could you please add a screenshot to the article "SyMon Bootmanager"? Sorry, I don't have enough perms to do it myself.

You just have to uncomment the "screenshot" line and then to upload the picture. You will find it here:

Hi, this is not vandalism, but a factual problem. You have not stated a citation or any source for this info. Wiki is a fact based web and you can't list something and not expect to have it questioned and/or edited if you cannot back it up with sources. I am removing it until you can back the entry up with a recognised and verifiable source. Please be aware that you are under warning of the THREE EDIT RULE. 86.164.87.6 (talk) 18:09, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

I did not add the information to the page; out of courtesy if you do not leave the page in a tidy state (eg putting "tba" in places), people will typically undo the edit. However Sinden Productions page for 7DS states that Blaise is a part of the cast. --TubularWorld (talk) 21:53, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Seven Deadly Sins Four Deadly Sinners

Is there a particular reason that you have put a 'clean-up' tag on this page? I have spent a long time sourcing and correcting this entry and cannot see that it needs any tidying up. I hope that you may see your way to undoing that tag. Many thanks. Captainclegg (talk) 22:28, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

It is partly a 'style' problem, as some of it seems like an advert, which is prohibited on Wikipedia. For example, after the actors names it should not really state what the actors are noted for, as this is unrelated work; a list of the actors names would suffice. I'm almost sure that there is a mention in the Manual of Style about it somewhere. Also the links inside of the references should begin with "http://", and should point to exact pages where the reference is contained, and not just the website name. Just little things really, which I could have a go at tidying if you want. --TubularWorld (talk) 23:02, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks I will do that about the actors, but The Stage newspaper (one of the source references) is well-known for not yet having started a web achieve and only publishing on-line in the last couple of years. Many references rely on library & Theatre Museum copies of the paper etc. No way round that one I'm afraid! Captainclegg (talk) 23:14, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

I have nominated Till We Ain't Strangers Anymore, an article that you created, for deletion. Fair use rationale for File:William Tell video.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:William Tell video.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Celemony, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://en.wikiaudio.org/Celemony. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 14:51, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

It has been changed, and it was CC anyway. TubularWorld (talk) 15:08, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Celemony, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Cupstone article

I have just been looking at the Cupstone article and, although I am fairly knowledgeable about lithic artifacts, I don't have a clue what they are talking about. Moreover, the photo in the article and the photos on the website from which the article was created look more like omars to me than they do human made artifacts. At the very least the term "nutting stone" should be removed from the article; I really don't think whatever it is talking about is anything like what an archaeologist is talking about when using the term "nutter" or "nutting stone."

I really suggest eliminating this article altogether.

Speedy deletion declined: Maximus clean

Hello TubularWorld. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Maximus clean, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. Coffee // have a cup // ark // 20:50, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

The article was tagged for a speedy deletion by an editor to allow an uncontroversial move to Index (retailer). This is a common procedure, but the new article has not been created, so I've restored the old version. I think the SD tag was an error anyway, since the page could just have been moved to the new title leaving a redirect at the old title Jimfbleak - talk to me? 17:47, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello TubularWorld! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 317 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Virgin Store

Hi. I saw you created Virgin Store, although I believe it needs to be merged with Virgin Books and Music. Both are operated by Lagardere and both are travel location stores, therefore they are the same chain. There is no clear name for these stores; Lagardere usually uses the moniker "Virgin Books and Music" on their site and literature, although the stores themselves are usually just labelled "Virgin", like in Germany. After a little more research, I agree. The German website lists the parent company as HDS Retail, and thus I thought that it was separate from the Lagardere-owned ones. From their literature however I have discovered that they are operated by Lagardere Services. My mistake - thanks for pointing it out. TubularWorld (talk) 00:23, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Indeed, HDS Retail is a division of Lagardere. However when I made the page Virgin Books and Music, the annual report I was referring to probably did not mention the Virgin stores specifically under HDS. I'm assuming they have since reorganized/restructured, or the older literature I saw was not as precise or I must've misinterpreted. Imperatore (talk)

The article Child of Allah has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references, text does not assert that the single charted. Lacks separate notability from the album.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Durova412 19:18, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Fix

Re "fix", is there a style guideline for track names that I'm unaware of? Thanks...  Frank  |  talk  20:36, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes, typically I try and follow the Manual of Style (music), and the Music Wiki Project states "Names of songs and singles are in quotes, name of albums and EPs are in italics." TubularWorld (talk) 20:52, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 20:17, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Kate Adie

Hello, I'm fairly new to Wilkipedia and don't use it a lot. I checked the entry for Kate Adie and noticed you made the last correction. However when I saw her birthdate is given exactly as born Kathryn Adie 19 September 1945 I decided to check it. Looking at the UK General Resister Office records there is no mention of her birth in 1945. I'm not sure whether to delete this date or what to do! (Visqueen (talk) 14:41, 20 July 2010 (UTC))

That is odd, however I would say leave the date as it is, as there are a number of references which say that her birthday is 19 September 1945 including the University of St Andrews, IMDb and a couple of newspapers. Considering the sources for the current date of birth, unless you can find something that gives a different one, I'd say leave it as it is. TubularWorld (talk) 15:02, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello again - I know Kate Adie was adopted so I am assuming her birth surname wasn't Adie. As I said earlier, according to GRO records, there is no Katheryn Adie born in 1945! So after her name & birth date there should be something that says something like reference needed . . . . but I don't know how to do it! All internet references give the same date - and it may well be correct - but often when a reference is put on the internet others simply copy it without checking. Do you have any comments?Visqueen (talk) 09:58, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

The Bells, The Bells...

Looked at your ref - it only says they would be rung at given time - not why that time was chosen. What connection is there between 666 and Tubular Bells? Peridon (talk) 20:26, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

The only connection between 666 and Tubular Bells is the time/date of the bell ringing event. Presumably whomever set the date linked the album's use in the horror film The Exorcist to a demonic reference - 666. Mike Oldfield himself commented on the use of 666 for the bell ringing event in Classic Rock Magazine. TubularWorld (talk) 11:04, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Montreux '81

(Ever seen him live?)
Do you know the answer to my Talk question?
Varlaam (talk) 23:05, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately I've never gotten the chance to see him live, and I've just gone and listened to "Punkadiddle" from Montreux '81 again but I don't know what that little piece that he played was, sorry. TubularWorld (talk) 23:10, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
I've had the disk for years. Always think it's Hergest, but it's not. I would add (incorporating "XYZ") to the track listing if I could determine XYZ.
Saw him the last time he played here. 1980s. Two drummers, one being Moerlen, on opposite sides of the stage. Rear-projected animated film of the tubular logo circulating.
Best concert I'd ever seen up to that time. Probably the only others I've seen that were as good would be Van Der Graaf last summer, and the Genesis cover band Musical Box when they perform all of Lamb Lies Down in the original costumes.

Newcastle University buildings

Hi

I saw that you added the link to the two articles on the University of Newcastle buildings. I am working on various UK university articles in the context of WP:WikiProject Universities. I don't think that everything in those two articles can possibly be notable enough for the encyclopedia, but some of it certainly is. Would you object if we migrated the notable bits back into the University of Newcastle article, as a merge? Would you be able to help at all? The main criterion when it comes to university buildings should be architectural importance, but there may also be other things that make them notable, e.g. if they have won awards for ecological design, or if they are unusual buildings for a university to be using. Itsmejudith (talk) 14:58, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Sure, merging them should be fine as long as the University article itself does not get too large. I haven't had much time to edit recently, but I should be able to help with it. TubularWorld (talk) 15:06, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
That's great. Subarticles are OK in order to take pressure off the main article, but only if the topic has got independent coverage. I don't know if any of the Newcastle university buildings merit that. (Bodleian library is a one-off, of course. Itsmejudith (talk) 17:07, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Delete Newcastle University buildings articles?

See discussion on the talk page of WikiProject Universities. Do you have a view on this? Itsmejudith (talk) 16:33, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Chart position of QE2

Hello,

at the Wikipedia page about the album QE2 by Mike Oldfield on 24th of February in 2009 you added a table with chart positions. I wonder, where you got your info because I tried to verfiy the #1 position in West Germany using the website with the official german charts by media control and I found the following info: QE2 reached its top position of #12 in the week of 30th of March in 1981.

Chart positions of that week: http://www.charts.de/charts.asp?cat=a&year=1981&date=19810330&x=29&y=12

Link to album details: http://www.charts.de/album.asp?artist=Mike+Oldfield&title=QE2

It would be nice, if you could correct it or cite your source.

Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.27.220.78 (talk) 16:08, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Your reference appears to be correct. I believe that the source was Stereo Review Interview - July, 1982 which stated "His last LP, 'QE2', sold 100,000 copies in its first week - No. 1 in Germany and among the top five in England." Obviously that was horribly inaccurate. Thanks for pointing that out. TubularWorld (talk) 17:10, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Los Angeloser, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

The song hit #107 on the UK charts and didn't make any of the others, so I don't feel it is notable.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. 85.210.22.76 (talk) 22:11, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:World Pay.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:World Pay.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk) 04:20, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Non-Free rationale for File:Losing My Virginity.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Losing My Virginity.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under Non-Free content criteria but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a Non-Free rationale.

If you have uploaded other Non-Free media, consider checking that you have specified the Non-Free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. File:Yahoo HotJobs.png needs authorship information.

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Yahoo HotJobs.png appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided),authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:{{subst:usernameexpand|TubularWorld/Archive 2}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:06, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
