Emigrate
[edit]So 'emigrate to Bulgaria' means they have left X country and immigrated to Bulgaria? That's what the definition on oxforddictionaries.com seems to imply. --Svippong 18:28, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, it would appear to be so. Although, the source used says 'immigrated to Bulgaria', I wonder if that language shouldn't be used instead, as it is more clear and less ambiguous. --Svippong 18:34, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- I agree that it's good to strive for clarity. We could put emigrated to Bulgaria from the neighboring countries in the period between 1912 and 1929, etc. It seems clearer that way. Tropcho (talk) 19:43, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
This came up on the talk page of the article on Julian Schwinger Talk:Julian Schwinger. You can say
- 'immigrated to Bulgaria' (writer explicitly adopting perspective of being in Bulgaria)
- 'emigrated to Bulgaria' (writer implicitly in Country X)
- 'immigrated from Country X' (writer strongly implying he is in Bulgaria)
- 'emigrated from Country X' (writer explicitly adopting perspective of being in Country X)
The common problem of all of all of these is that to greater or lesser degrees, they imply the perspective of the writer. It is better to use the neutral term 'migrated', which implies nothing about the locale of the writer, and is therefore good wikipedia.
You can then write 'migrated from Country X' or 'migrated to Bulgaria' or, of course 'migrated from Country X to Bulgaria' according to which aspects of the action are important. This leaves the focus firmly with the subject and not with the author. Which is just the way it should be. 78.32.68.244 (talk) 20:57, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
stara velika bulgaria brato
[edit]CHAPTER CXX the oldest documents about Bulgaria and Kubrat are from the chronics of JOhn of Nikiu in early 600 AD:
47. And when the inhabitants of Byzantium heard this news, they said: 'This project is concerned with Kubratos, chief of the Huns, the nephew of Organa, who was baptized in the city of Constantinople, and received into the Christian community in his childhood and had grown up in the imperial palace.'
CHAPTER LXXXIX
74. But immediately on his return to the emperor, the
latter removed him from his command, and appointed in his
room another general, named Cyril, of the province of
Illyria. 75. And he also gave battle to Vitalian, and
there was great slaughter on both sides. Cyril the general
retired into the city named Odyssus, and stayed there while
Vitalian withdrew into the province of Bulgaria.

Byzantine Bulgarian Wars 970-1018
- Future Perfect at Sunrise – същия като тourbillon
- Chipmunkdavis – същия като тourbillon
- Jingiby – същия като тourbillon
Разпрострянявайте този списък, за да се знаят тези. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zoomzoom34 (talk • contribs) 21:12, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

[edit]My friend, the clergy of the Roman Empire (Byzantium) was calling themselves Romans not Greeks. There is no source from the 10th or 11th century that refers to them as Greeks. Calling Byzantium anything by Roman and its inhabitants anything by Romans is a modern twisted product... Jrmichaa (talk) 22:29, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

wp point ?
[edit]"With this revert, you've started an edit war. As you may know, edit warring is against the rules of wikipedia. Before proceeding with further reverts, use this talk page (or mine) to clarify the issue. In case it wasn't clear why I restored the content you removed earlier, I did it because the content you removed in no way violates WP:POINT (which you referred to as justification for your edit) and is perfectly acceptable talk page content. Perhaps it might help if you read WP:POINT again. Continued warring will be reported."
