[edit]tells us that this is a circus/zoo and the fellow inmates are by and large quite harmless but short on a range of skills, usually... and that many are short of knowledge, even more so an invariable level of ignorance shines forth from the most unsuspecting. One must concur with never telling a kettle that it is black on wikipedia, as the temerity for something that equivocates with holding a mirror, fails miserably... JarrahTree 00:34, 5 June 2022 (UTC)

[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Waterwheels in Australia indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read! Moving a page
[edit]Hello. When you make an error in the title of a page, you can move it to a new title (essentially renaming it). This means you don't need to recreate it, and it doesn't fragment the revision history. You can learn more at Help:How to move a page. [edit]Thanks for your contributions to Forest Reefs, New South Wales. Thank you for this well-written and interesting article! You'll see I've made some minor changes per MOS:EDITORIAL and to tag the statement about it being "apparently a healthy place to live" (ideally, this would be clearly supported by an in-line source; if there isn't a source and it's just a conclusion drawn from no deaths occurring before 1908, then this part of the sentence should be removed). I hope that makes sense, and thank you again for your work.

[edit]Thanks for contributing to the article John Hope, 4th Earl of Hopetoun. @Diannaa::Hi Diannaa,
- You have not indicated the article that is affected. On the face of it, I have would have no clue about where the edit has been 'removed in part or full'. (I have created over 100 articles now, and provided edits to many more, so you have left me quite a challenge). The link shown is to the publication on the web ([1]), it is not a Wikipedia article, and so there is no way I can have edited somebody else's publication. It must be a Wikipedia article, but which one? That should be the stated, in fairness to me as a regular and dedicated editor, at the very least.
- I do understand copyright, pretty well, and how it applies to Wikipedia.
- So, tracking back through recent work, I know that you have done something to Draft:Great Cobar Copper Mine.
- If this is merely due to a reference to the publication in a article. As you would well know, that should not be a problem; after all if I reference a book I am not violating its copyright, just referencing it as a source. This publication would be no different. Unless you can point to a specific piece of text that has been lifted without change from that publication, then what is the problem? If it is just a few word strings that happen to align, when two people are talking about the same specific subject, that can be difficult to avoid, e.g. 'World War 1 ended on 11 November 1918' is what a book might say and what I might say too, even if I cite the book as a reference. It is the simplest way to say it in plain English.
- If you used the automatic tool to check for 'violations' then that would have been quite easy to let me know that there were issues - in what is after all still a draft article - before deleting stuff. I am quite reasonable and responsible.
- Now when I go back to that draft, I will be very careful not to offend, but equally I have lost some work, without any record at all of what has gone.
- Let's leave it at that for now. TrimmerinWiki (talk) 13:53, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry for the copypaste error; it was in the draft Draft:Great Cobar Copper Mine. The content I had to remove is on page 16 of the pdf. The paragraph starts with "Things were coming to a head". The content you added followed that, and included most of the content in that paragraph. I paraphrased it to say "A decrease in the price of copper to a range of £65 to £70 during 1913 led to further financial difficulties and a drop in share price to only 6s 3d by January 1914. Bellinger resigned on 10 November 1913." Sorry but the caseload of potential copyright violations is quite high, making it impossible timewise to discuss each case with the involved editor. — Diannaa (talk) 23:52, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
@Diannaa:::: Thanks Diannaa, and thank you for resolving to this is a positive way. I will try and be even more diligent about copyright in future. I admit that I occasionally do cut and paste, just to save time and to be sure that I do capture what is at the reference. However, my usual approach is then to use that copied text as a draft text that I then paraphrase to my own words, before saving. I accept that I have slipped up in this instance, and that I need to be more careful, not to leave fragments of someone else's work in the article. Thanks for taking the time to respond and, in particular, for paraphrasing the potential copyright violation. It must be a difficult job addressing copyright in Wikipedia, with such a diverse range of authors and sources. Keep up the good work.TrimmerinWiki (talk) 01:05, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
