Peer Review

[edit]

Hi classmate! This is Sarah, logged in as Pitt Archy. I am giving you my fake peer-review here, so everyone in the class can see how to do this.

Overall, this user has not yet made a plan for this article. I suggest they create a sandbox where they can add references before they put them in the article. I also suggest they do these 5 things:

Peer Review

[edit]

Hi Tranquillitatis317. This is Sara Gaiser. I am helping do part of your peer review. I think you found a ton of great sources to add to your article. You have a great plan and lay out of everything you want to add. You even want to add a new section called Codes of Conduct at Institutes/ Professional Organizations which I think would be very interesting to add to your article. There were a couple of things that I noticed about the wiki article that I think could be super easy fixes. The first is the brief mention of the UNESCO act. The article briefly mentions UNESCO in the lead, but it does not expand on what that is anywhere else in the article. In week 4 lecture 1 instructor Kennedy did a great job explaining what that is and its ramifications. You could expand upon what this is so it is not only mentioned in the lead. This could be talked about in the Ethics in Ethnoarchaeology section. Here is a good source from the UNESCO website itself. https://en.unesco.org/fighttrafficking/1970. I also liked how you plan on adding a new picture. I do not think the picture of the Nubian artifacts was helpful since it really only depicted the display case and Nubian artifacts were not discussed in the article. Your picture actually shows the exhibit. I would just be careful and make sure you have a sentence or two about why the picture is relevant in the article. In addition I think you could expand upon the idea of repatriation in Antiquities Trade section. We talked about a lot of examples in lecture including Euphronious krater, bronze plaques from Berlin, and Elgin marbles. The Elgin marbles are briefly mentioned in the article, but the story of their controversy is not explained, so you could expand upon that. Here is an article from the New York times that does a good job explaining the history of the Euphronious krater https://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/19/arts/design/19bowl.html. You could add this where ever you want to talk about repatriation.

Overall I think you have done a great job finding articles and setting up your article. You have lots of different sources from many different places. You also pulled some sources from our in class readings which is really cool since we have discussed them. I think you could make some really awesome improvements to this article. Keep up the good work!
