Can you please indicate where that photo comes from? I get zero search engine hits for "Jared and the Shark", "Sir Havian" or "Thanks Bob! Productions", and no hits for "Steve Menning" which have anything to do with this character. John Barleycorn 05:20, July 30, 2005 (UTC)
I am not certain if this is the correct way to answer you, John Barleycorn, because I am relatively new to Wikipedia and could not find out how in the help section. I am involved in the small, four-person production company that filmed "The River of Fish." We are currently creating Sir Havian's web presence. "Henry Wayne" is in fact a pen name and the author, as I understand it, prefers to keep his real name private. As for the picture of Sir Havian, a member of our production company took the photo. Hi, Tony, I hope you aren't turned off from Wikipedia by my comments, or by my nomination of your article. You might check our articles on Wikipedia:Vanity page and Wikipedia"Verifiability. Generally, articles written by the people who are the subjects of the article or who are personally involved in it are considered to have a vested interest in an article, and we use the term "vanity" to describe such articles. It's generally believed that, if something is worth having an article about it, then a neutral party would write about it. If we can't verify the existence of the subject, or if there are only a very few sources, then the subject is generally considered not significant enough to have an article. We also get lots of "hoax" articles, where people actively create articles about fictional people and places (and I don't mean your Sir Havian, I mean people they try to pass off as real), and with nothing verifiable, this could be considered in the same vein. I hope, however, you stick around and create or edit other articles. John Barleycorn 05:49, July 30, 2005 (UTC)
It's not really an administrator's decision on Votes for deletion, it's a consensus effort. Any User who has a reasonable number of edits can vote on whether or not an article can be deleted, and all valid votes are counted. If there is no consensus to delete the article, then it is kept, whether the votes are cast by administrators or not. I'm not an administrator, by the way, I'm pretty new here myself. Have fun, enjoy yourself. John Barleycorn 05:57, July 30, 2005 (UTC)
Signing your comments

VfD comment
[edit]Hi Tony - I recently was reading your comments on the VfD of some page you created. Don't let that stuff get you down. Wikipedia is constantly trying to determine the appropriate amount of noteriety that should warrent an article. Unfortunately, often it devolves into "how many google hits are there." I honestly don't know how I feel about all this, but I just wanted to drop you a note so you don't get discouraged! Happy wikipedia-ing! --best, kevin ···Kzollman | Talk··· 23:08, July 30, 2005 (UTC)
JFK favorite book list
[edit]Do you happen to know where one might find JFK's list of favorite books, the list that included From Russia with Love? It might be interesting to note in the article what other books were included. 23skidoo 22:46, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
I don't have the list in front of me - I know for a fact that what I said is true, that FRWL was the only work of fiction on the list. I will try to find where I saw the list so that I can confirm. Tonywiki 03:38, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
All right - I found it. I checked each book; From Russia With Love is the only work of fiction. Tonywiki 03:46, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Havian.JPG
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Havian.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -SCEhardT 00:04, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Walter_Dale_Miller.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Walter_Dale_Miller.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

You have this image tagged as "Thermals in South Dakota", but the picture clearly illustrates dust devils, a totally different phenomenon. Consider uploading the picture to Image:Dust devils in South Dakota.JPG or some derivative, and putting the tag {{db|Image available at new location: Image:Dust devils in South Dakota.JPG}} on the description page for Image:Thermals.JPG
Contact me if you have any questions/comments. -Runningonbrains 18:28, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Stephanie Herseth
[edit]Tonywiki, I just wanted to drop you a note to remind you that with great power comes great responsibility. In this case, that great power is moving pages and the great responsibility is to change any links thereby removing the newly created redirects. I am referring to your moving of Stephanie Herseth to Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. Items which link to Stephanie Herseth can be found here. Please change the links to Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. If you have any questions, please let me know. Regards, Daysleeper47 12:55, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:DennisLindaDaugaard.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Tom Deadrick.JPG)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Tom Deadrick.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:28, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Tonywiki! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 131 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Better source request for File:Walter Dale Miller.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Walter Dale Miller.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. --Geniac (talk) 04:21, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Matt Michels.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Matt Michels.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 10:46, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
