Speedy deletion nomination of Dot.AY

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dot.AY requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Removing Speedy at Dot.AY

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Dot.AY, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 07:52, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Dot.AY for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Dot.AY is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dot.AY until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Bgwhite (talk) 06:50, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Only The Young Die Good (film), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.filmbizarro.com/onlytheyoungdiegood.php.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 01:03, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You removed the copyright issue tag, but you haven't cured the problem. Not only do I see material copied from this site, as already noted, you've :introduced material frorm this site.
Please let me know if you do not understand. It is a problem, even if you are the author of those other sites.
Please address this soon.--S Philbrick(Talk) 00:15, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you found me at the right place. I'll go look now. --S Philbrick(Talk) 23:53, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Progress, but not quite there.

The original says:

"Private eye Jack Mitchum is a good man in a dirty town"

You said:

"Jack Mitchum, Private eye, is a good man in a dirty town."

Original says:

" has only days to prove his innocence before he takes the fall"

You said:

"has only days to prove his innocence before he takes the rap"

Original says:

"Jack has to play rough & dirty just to stay alive as he learns that in this world, Only The Young Die Good."

You said:

" He has to play rough and dirty just to stay alive as he discovers that in this world, Only The Young Die Good."

Too close.

Some will argue that there are only so many ways to say something, but follow the advice of user:Jayron32:

  1. Read the entire source text.
  2. Think about what it means. Internalize it. Try to understand what the author is saying.
  3. Put away the source text. Don't look at it (at least for a few minutes). Using your own understanding, summarize or describe what the author is saying in your own words. Check back to make sure you capture the sense of the original source, but your writing should use different words, sentence structure, organization, etc. It should be your own work.

File permission problem with File:Only The Young Die Good (theatrical release poster).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Only The Young Die Good (theatrical release poster).jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:45, 16 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Moxie (composer), requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Notice

The article Only the Young Die Good has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable film, no coverage in secondary independent sources, does not meet WP:NF, no good redirect target

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
