Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Lydia Birch has been reverted, as it appears to have removed content from the page without explanation. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. Blocked

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for socking. Readily apparent that Farlsno, Tomdresser27, and Dushdush are all the same editor. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

E-mail

I got your e-mail, but I don't reply via e-mail to people unknown to me (I've got no reason to let strangers have my e-mail address). There are instructions above, and you need to use them if you want to be unblocked.—Kww(talk) 21:51, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Request reason:

I undertand that changing articles on wikipedia is against the rules of wikipedia and I do not intend to ever in the future change articles on wikipedia unless I am changing them to improve them. I also assure you that my account is the only account I have access to and I have no access to Farlsno or DushDush and as far as I am aware, they do not access wikipedia through the same IP address as me. I would be very grateful if you could unblock my account to enable me to edit wikipedia articles in the future to improve the articles and I assure you that I will never abuse wikipedia articles in the future.

Decline reason:

Pending SPI determination, currently pending. I note that the three accounts make similar edits to the same article(s), and are in talkpage contact with each other. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 22:22, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

To any admin considering: I have opened WP:Sockpuppet investigations/Farlsno. I think the edit history of Lydia Birch combined with the overlap of edits between Falrsno, Tomdresser27, and Dushdush speaks for itself.

To the user: Changing articles on Wikipedia is emphatically not against the rules. Creating multiple accounts in order for one person to pretend to be multiple people that assist each other, as happened on Lydia Birch, is.—Kww(talk) 22:07, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Can I please assure you that the three accounts that are suspected of being sock puppets are not, I only have access to this account (Tomdresser27) and this account is, to the best of my knowledge, the only account accessing wikipedia through my IP address. Tomdresser27(talk)

Per checkuser results, I have unblocked this account. My apologies about the inconvenience caused by this block; please remember that when you know each other in real life, it is inappropriate to ask your friend to do something on your behalf. Further, it is contrary to our policy to introduce negative or controversial information about a living person unless it is accompanied by a reliable source. I hope that you don't make the same mistakes which you made on Lydia Birch. Tim Song (talk) 03:06, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Welcome

Hi, I'm Tim Song (talk · contribs). I'd like to personally welcome you and thank you for your contributions thus far. As you probably know, Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia collaboratively written entirely by volunteers. If you ever see anything that can be improved—be it correcting a typo or writing a new article—don't be afraid to fix it yourself! Don't worry about making mistakes; one of the many editors will probably notice and quickly correct it. If you have any questions, just place the text {{helpme}} on your talk page, and an administrator will help you shortly. Alternatively, you could join the #wikipedia-en-help IRC channel, where dozens of friendly helpers await. You can find out more about the project here, but I won't bore you with statistics and rules. Just remember to be civil to other editors, to always cite your sources, and to write articles from a neutral point of view, and you should be good to go.

Wikipedia is a huge website; with 6,914,344 articles, it is the single biggest encyclopedia in the world. Additionally, there are thousands of policy and process pages, so it can be a bit overwhelming, even to experienced users. When I was new, I found the Tutorial particularly helpful. You might also want to check out the glossary. This page serves as our library reference desk, where you can ask nearly any question imaginable.

The Featured Articles and Good Article pages are good places to look for some of our most well-written and comprehensive articles. On the other end of the spectrum, we have thousands of articles that require cleanup of some sort, so feel free to help out. In particular, many biographies of living persons need to be sourced properly; while this task can be a bit difficult, it's of a highly important nature.

I hope you've found this advice helpful. Feel free to contact me for more information. Tim Song (talk) 03:06, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Categorisation

  1. After nearly six and a half years contributing to Wikipedia it was nice to get a message of welcome from you.
  2. You will have noted that I used the 'Hotcat' gadget to remove the superfluous category from the Dogs Trust artice; this does not allow for explanations.
  3. The explanation you seek is as follows. The article is categorised under 'Animal charities based in the United Kingdom', this is - ultimately - a sub-category of 'Animal welfare'. With very few exceptions (none of which apply here) parent categories are not included alongside those that form part of them. This is the case here.
  4. So I will revert your incorrect reversion of my change. I hope this helps,
