Help needed
Hello sir, @Titodutta:
- Sir I would like to request you about the article which I recently created Boss – Baap of Special Services,Firrkie, I M 24,Sab Kushal Mangal, Section 375,Sridevi Bungalow,ABCD – American Born Confused Desi. I have readed all the policy and guidelines. But then also please check whether this article comply with WP:N and review this article if they do not fulfill the criteria then please move this articles to draft space so that I work on it otherwise they would be deleted by any Wikipedia administrator. I respect your work. I know you are too busy. But It would be a great if you help me. AR.Dmg (talk) 14:07, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
- Not sure why you moved these articles to draftspace and then moved back to mainspace. Other than the main WP:N you may also read specific policy pages such as WP:NFILMS. If you have questions, our good friends are always there at WT:INB to answer your questions for India-specific topics. Else you may also visit WP:HD, and WP:THQ. Regards. --Titodutta (talk) 21:13, 16 April 2019 (UTC)

@Titodutta: Can you pls have a look to this article [1]. I hv edited some. Thanks in advance. Sumita Roy Dutta (talk) 20:52, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, the following cleanups are to be done:
- WP:REFPUNC, references are added are punctuations, see the guideline for more details.
- Several URL values in the references
- Remove external links from article body.
- Check MOS:DATE
Other than some the minor issues mentioned above, with so detailed "insight" section, and other details, the article looks more like a website profile, than an encyclopedic article. Anyway, you may get more help from WT:INB. Once you think the draft is ready, submit it for review at WP:AFC. --Titodutta (talk) 21:11, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – May 2019
News and updates for administrators from the past month (April 2019).
- A request for comment concluded that creating pages in the portal namespace should be restricted to autoconfirmed users.
- Following a request for comment, the subject-specific notability guideline for pornographic actors and models (WP:PORNBIO) was removed; in its place, editors should consult WP:ENT and WP:GNG.
- XTools Admin Stats, a tool to list admins by administrative actions, has been revamped to support more types of log entries such as AbuseFilter changes. Two additional tools have been integrated into it as well: Steward Stats and Patroller Stats.
- In response to the continuing compromise of administrator accounts, the Arbitration Committee passed a motion amending the procedures for return of permissions (diff). In such cases,
the committee will review all available information to determine whether the administrator followed "appropriate personal security practices" before restoring permissions
; administrators found failing to have adequately done sowill not be resysopped automatically
. All current administrators have been notified of this change. - Following a formal ratification process, the arbitration policy has been amended (diff). Specifically, the two-thirds majority required to remove or suspend an arbitrator now excludes (1) the arbitrator facing suspension or removal, and (2) any inactive arbitrator who does not respond within 30 days to attempts to solicit their feedback on the resolution through all known methods of communication.
- In response to the continuing compromise of administrator accounts, the Arbitration Committee passed a motion amending the procedures for return of permissions (diff). In such cases,
- A request for comment is currently open to amend the community sanctions procedure to exclude non XfD or CSD deletions.
- A proposal to remove pre-2009 indefinite IP blocks is currently open for discussion.
Orphaned non-free image File:Chhabi Biswas photo.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Chhabi Biswas photo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Photo
Sir, with due respect I just want to know what are the problems with my uploads as listed below:-
1. File:Chhabi Biswas.jpg - As mentioned in the source, the image is taken from the 1958 film Jalsaghar. As far as I know, any image published before 1 January 1959, falls under Public domain, that is, it can be taken from any source and used in Wikipedia.
2. Similarly, File: Suchitra Sen.jpg and File:Uttam-Kumar-and-Suchitra-Sen-in-Bangla-Movie-Harano-Sur---1957.jpg fall under the same bracket as both the films from which the images are taken were released in 1955 and 1957 which is much before 1959 (these dates are also mentioned in the source). Thus, they must also be in Public domain.
3. As far as File: Sambhavana Seth (cropped).jpg is considered, then this file is a recent image of this person and I personally don't see any sort of copyright violation. I just want to know how the previous image is helpful and the recent one not?
Hoping for a favorable response. Regards!
- To upload images on Wikimedia Commons, it should be PD in both India (or the country of origin) and the US (server location). Release date+60 years may make an image PD-India, but not PD-US, or PD-1923. Anyway, why are you again and again removing deletion discussion tag, until the discussion is closed?
About the third image, what is the reason to change the image in the infobox? Read User:Tito Dutta/Image changing child's play for some opinion. One person comes and changes infobox image, just after a couple of weeks someone else replaces the image with their own upload cliaming it "more recent". It goes on like this. This should stop somewhere. Isn't it? --Titodutta (talk) 03:02, 26 April 2019 (UTC) - About the +60 years I mentioned it was about the screenshot of the film, please note that, not for general photographs, there are other rules in 1957 Indian copyright act. --Titodutta (talk) 03:10, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
Vandal edit
Hi mate, I have just stumbled upon Octavio do Rosario da Costa Mendonsa (talk · contribs · count) today. I could find only two edits from this user, one was the creation of a user page in Croatian language and the other, a vandal edit on the article Sahodaran Ayyappan. Thought I should let someone responsible know of it. --jojo@nthony (talk) 15:39, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, it looks horrible. I think it comes under CSD:U5 (WP:U5). It does not seem to be a plausible draft, moreover it is not English. I have tagged the page, let another admin have a look from the log. Regards. --Titodutta (talk) 15:48, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

Adoption
Hello, I was wondering if you could WP:ADOPT me. SolarStorm1859 (talk) 13:07, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for the message, and thanks for creating a Wikipedia account. Please tell me a few things you want to learn? Regards. --Titodutta (talk) 13:11, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- I would like assistance resolving a dispute if that is possible. Thanks! SolarStorm1859 (talk) 13:15, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- Are you talking about any specific dispute, or dispute resolution, in general? How do you plan to improve content on Wikipedia? Regards. ---Titodutta (talk) 13:22, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- I am talking about the dispute at Talk:Indigenous intellectual property#Excessive examples of declarations regarding IIP. SolarStorm1859 (talk) 13:28, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- I see. If you want help in one specific discussion thread, that does not need WP:Adopt. WP:Adopt is generally a longer process that attempts to enhance skill on topics such as content creation, Manual of Style, understanding policies, guidelines etc.
It is a good thing that the editors are discussing on the talk page. I am not the best person to comment about Indigenous intellectual property-related topic. In addition to the comments on the discussion page, if you really need expert opinion, you may post on related project noticebords (see the project banners on the talk page). Regards. --Titodutta (talk) 13:42, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- The trouble is that Corbie is using my past behavior to argue against my proposed changes. My behavior has nothing to do with content. SolarStorm1859 (talk) 13:48, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- I have pinged him to see if he has some suggestion/opinion on it. Where actually did Corbie talk about your past? The comment on "dynamic IP"? I'd suggest wait for sometime, and continue the discussion on the talk page. --Titodutta (talk) 13:59, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry, I lost the password tom my account. In the discussion that I linked, he cites my "edit warring" and removal of talk page warnings as a reason that my proposed change should not be made. I believe "I'd rather have someone who hasn't been disruptive do it. Like someone who hasn't been disruptive on these articles. Your edit-warring and attempts to avoid accoutability rule you out." to be a comment on the contributor rather than on the content. 5.104.90.107 (talk) 14:43, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Titodutta. This user edit-warred from a dynamic IP just to the edge of getting blocked, then removed all the warnings with an insult. Then a new account, now indef-blocked, appeared to "agree" with them. More on this on my talk page. Look closely into their history. Best, - CorbieV ☊ ☼ 18:26, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- The new account that "agreed" with me was the joe jobbing "UTRS troll". See Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive1008#Impersonation_—_CU,_please?. 5.104.90.107 (talk) 19:07, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- With or without additional sockpuppetting, you were engaging in disruptive editing, from multiple IP accounts. You are coming in from several different, dynamic IPs, which is why checkuser is irrelevant. Therefore, we assess the situation based on behavioural evidence. - CorbieV ☊ ☼ 21:25, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- There is no policy against having a dynamic IP nor can I control when my IP changes. I never said anything about check user but looking at behavioral evidence there is nothing that ties me to this LTA. I just happen to be a victim of yet another one of his Joe jobs. If you look at the thread that I linked, you'll see that his exact MO is to find editors who are edit warring and file fake UTRS appeals and create accounts to "help" them in the hopes that they'll get blocked. 5.104.90.107 (talk) 21:38, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- Also, all of the edits I made to the page were on one IP. I didn't make a single edit to the article on my other IP. Therefore it is impossible for me to have "edit wasted with multiple IP". 5.104.90.107 (talk) 21:47, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- WP:Wikilawyering. You argued on talk with multiple IPs. And you link the CU stuff above. This is tiresome and, again, doesn't matter. You edit-warred and insulted other editors, removed warnings, and now you're being disingenuous about it. - CorbieV ☊ ☼ 23:07, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- I am not "wiki lawyering". Please stop assuming bad faith. 5.104.90.107 (talk) 01:52, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
Again, I can't control when my fucking IP address changes. There is a difference between having a dynamic IP and socking. Learn it! 5.104.90.107 (talk) 02:01, 29 April 2019 (UTC)- I have decided to strike this comment as it was less than civil. 5.104.90.107 (talk) 12:15, 29 April 2019 (UTC)

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Timeless Newsletter • Issue 4
Welcome to the fourth issue of the Timeless newsletter, with a cat! Or maybe not.
Un chat qui miaule???
It's true! The angry cat, a fundamental part of Timeless, has resulted in confusion and bug reports all across the projects and phabricator. And now it shall be immortalised forever in the new, shiny Timeless logo.
Updates:
After putting off the project for three months because I got hit in the head with a flight of stairs, and then putting off the project for another two months while working out what the status of the grant was, I have now put off the project even more in order to focus on my other project for a bit. So progress lately has been a bit whims-based as a result:
- The project now has a logo. For some reason.
- The angry cat in the background is now customisable! Behold: not a cat. What would you like to replace it with on your project?
- I broke, unbroke, and then sort of sideways broke all the form styles. Help.
Radar:
- The French Wiktionary voted to set Timeless as their default skin, with results possibly as you might expect: I ran away and hid, and the WMF said no. A bit of discussion later and we largely agreed that all else aside, this is a bit of a branding issue, but we love the enthusiasm! Also the bug reports that inevitably come out of such a discussion. I'm still working on properly going through those.
- Theme support is still stuck in limbo, but now we have another skinning RfC. tl;dr, we wanna replace the entire skinning system, and Skizzerz'll write a prototype later.
I will be fully resuming work on Timeless next week, or maybe the week after, depending on what madness (or illness) comes out of the Hackathon in Prague. Please come talk to me there to discuss strategy!
