Orphaned non-free media (File:LTV LOGO 2008.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:LTV LOGO 2008.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. From WebCite's FAQ, If you are a programmer or a student looking for a project ... develop a wikipedia bot which scans new wikipedia articles for cited URLs, submits an archiving request to WebCite®, and then adds a link to the archived URL behind the cited URL. Hi, DASHBot's image scaling task seems to have a bug when dealing with an image that's marked as rotated in the EXIF data. When scaling File:Forever Marilyn.jpg, it resulted in a distorted and incorrectly rotated image. Toohool (talk) 21:02, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Babri Mosque and College Assignment
I teach Global and Cultural Perspectives at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. I experimented this semester with assigning students, during a section on Hinduism, to retrieve a Peer reviewed scholarly article, read and comprehend it, and use information from that article to edit a Wikipedia site. Two of my students posted in the Babri Mosque article.
One cited information from ^ Islam, Arshad. "Babri Mosque: A Historic Bone Of Contention." Muslim World 97.2 (2007): 259-286. Academic Search Elite. Web. 23 Sept. 2012.
The other from Kausar, Z. (2006). Communal Riots in India: Hindu-Muslim Conflict and Resolution. Journal Of Muslim Minority Affairs, 26(3), 353-370.
Both peer reviewed articles through the ATLA Religion Database.
I want to be able to help the student's learn. Do you have a moment to explain why these additions were taken done by your DASHbot and how I can construct rubrics and explanations for the students so that they can make meaningful contributions to the Wikipedia community of knowledge.

Dashbot's cron tasks
Do you know why dashbot stopped doing many tasks on October 1st? I just noticed that he isn't giving Wikiprojects their unreferenced BLPs and the backlog has been growing. Gigs (talk) 23:34, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hey Gigs. This is embarrassing, but the bot stopped because I forgot to renew my account. I've been busy IRL and my wikipedia obligations have fallen by the wayside. I asked to have my account renewed, so that should be taken care of soon. I'm looking into moving my stuff to the new Wikimedia Labs (uber cool), but that might take a while. I'll leave a message here when I get my account back. Tim1357 talk|poke 06:32, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
Your Toolserver account
Hi Tim, glad to see you're back!
A while back your toolserver account expired and a few users were complaining, so I cp'd your WikiProject watchlist tool into my account for the time being (I hope you don't mind). Are you planning on re-activating your account soon? Thanks, Legoktm (talk) 22:39, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hey Legoktm. Thanks so much for doing that. You're awesome. I certainly don't mind and I'm surprised you could read my code. I am a hobbiest programmer and I'm sure my programming practices are, uhh, sub par. In any case, I've opened a request to have my account renewed. It does not matter to me whose tool they use. Orphaned non-free media (File:Chuyện Tình Xa Xứ – Passport To Love FilmPoster.jpeg)
Thanks for uploading File:Chuyện Tình Xa Xứ – Passport To Love FilmPoster.jpeg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

- Hi Tim, I'm trying to get started doing a little Bot development for WP:MED, working with Doc here. It looks like the tool is up and running and processing requests, but for some reason the query on "WikiProject Medicine" is not completing. If I had to guess it looks like there's a resource governor on the database and it's killing the query as too expensive or something.

For some reason, DASHbot keeps on adding the Jericho Shinde article to Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Unreferenced BLPs/Full list, even though it is referenced and is not tagged as unreferenced. Any ideas why? GiantSnowman 11:05, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

The toolserver copies of the wikipedia databases are really weird and I honestly don't want to put in the effort to understand why these things silly happen. In any case, thanks for letting me know! Image resize bot
Your bot incorrectly resized a fair use image that was already within the allowed parameters. Film Fan (talk) 21:15, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

- Of course. This one. Film Fan (talk) 20:06, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
- So this is something that has been frustrating me. I'm not sure what the appropriate threshold should be for resizing. For a while, the threshold was pretty large. Then someone complained and I changed it to 160k pixels (meaning that the bot will ignore files with less than 160k pixels). Now I think it might be time to ask for community input, because I want to make sure that my bot isn't stepping on anybody's toes. Tim1357 talk|poke 16:58, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- Only one of the dimensions can be larger than 300px. As long as one of the sides is not larger than 300px, it is fine. Film Fan (talk) 21:40, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

DASHBot image resize edit summary request
I'd appreciate DASHBot including the image dimensions in the edit summary when uploading. After a reduce, it's usual for all prior images to be deleted. If a user (say, me) uploads a higher-quality image (same dimensions) to replace the DASHBot upload, then all prior images are deleted, so that record of image sizes is lost (at least to regular registered editors). IMHO ideally both the upload wizard and DASHBot will automatically include the image dimensions in the edit summary, so that the file history permanently retains that record. Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Return-Cannes-Poster.jpg&action=history - all historical size info has been lost. --Lexein (talk) 03:26, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
DASHBot reduce goal?
At File:Return-Cannes-Poster.jpg, DASHBot uploaded a 160k pixel reduction (328 x 486). More recently, DASHBot seems to be creating 108k pixel reductions. Is this due to changes you've made, or some built-in heuristic? Not seeing the source code makes DASHBot something of a cipher. --Lexein (talk) 03:26, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

I just got a message from your bot regarding the speed deletion of the article DDR Dance Wars.
For expalanation, I was writing an article regarding DDR Dance Wars, but accidentally publish them while I actually want it to be my draft, so I moved the article to my user draft.
I just wanted to say that I am very sorry for the inconvenience that I have made,

Orphaned non-free media (File:A Soldier's Plaything FilmPoster.jpeg)
Thanks for uploading File:A Soldier's Plaything FilmPoster.jpeg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:00, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

File:79ibct ssi.svg missing description details
is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.
If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.
If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 22:49, 12 April 2013 (UTC)Orphaned non-free media (File:Fred 2- Night of the Living Fred FilmPoster.jpeg)
