I had thought of giving this when you expanded Mayavi. Not too late, I hope, because Kochi was promoted today :-)
Re. Paliath Achan, I guess not more than a line is needed. The one line that is already there may be modified to mention the the 1809 business also. The Kingdom of Kochi can have a more detailed description of events. Tintin (talk) 06:04, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Great Work
Congratulations for your great work did on the Kochi article to make it featured on wikipedia. The effort you put in is fruitful today.

Janmadinavum Kerala Articleum :)
Valare thanks, Deepu! Nobody has ever awarded me anything on Wikipedia, not even on my birthday!! (Though I do have awards from my German competitions that I conveniently hide under my bed where no one can see :-P)...
By the way, I left a comment on Talk:Kerala after editing that strange Idukki reference. (My parents come from Thiruvalla and whoever wrote those captions is telling me the district/jilla next door is next to Kannur or something?! Come on!!).
Interesting side-note: College just started the day after my birthday. One of my professors studies Indian linguistics (among other things). In the middle of class, he noted that he had pulled a hamstring and asked whether anyone knew what to do about it. He said that he didn't "conveniently" hurt himself somewhere in UT...it happened in New Delhi with rickshaw-wallahs all around him!
He later asked me how I would've liked that. I should've asked him whether it was worse than having an illness in Thiruvalla that drained out all your insides! (I had such an illness the last time I went.) --Kuaichik 02:59, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- When I read the sentence I got the impression that he meant north-western part of Idukki district and not NW Kerala. But it isn't right either. Marayoor is in North Eastern Idukki Tintin (talk) 07:37, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I thought of that too, but couldnt find a map of Idukki with Marayoor to confirm. So I kept my mouth shut.:P
- I just noticed that the article mentions Kerala as the southernmost state in India. Thats not the case, is it? The southernmost state is TN, right?-- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK 14:22, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi
Hi Deepu! You have any idea what is a good edit counter now in working condition. Since Interiot's tool lagged updating, I have been able to get rid of the editcountitis. Its been a long time. The java script counter takes such a long time! I get impatient. I just saw your user box that you have more than 7000 edits. I should be around that too. Have a look at West Bengal in your free time. Trying to upgrade the article. In infantile stage though! Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:09, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

AFD
I came across one of your AFD votes and I wanted to make sure you heard about this.
The edit history of merged material needs to be retained for attribution purposes per the GFDL. Therefore, "merge and delete" is not a valid combination. The most common vote in this case is "merge and redirect" which also has the advantage of pointing someone who enters the name to the article it was merged to. - Mgm|(talk) 07:48, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Keralathile Pattini?
I have put up a notice on the Kerala Noticeboard. I wasn't sure whether you got to see it.
Basically, I'm asking if anyone has any hard numbers to prove that a famine occurred in Kerala during the 1960s. According to Bengal famine of 1943, there have been no famines in India since Independence. I'm reasonably convinced that there must have been one in Kerala, though, because Appa often mentions it and I don't think he would make up something like that. (Why would he?)
Do you have any figures that might convince Jayanta Sen that it did occur? Apparently, he wants proof that people actually died (and that it wasn't just a shortage of rice that was involved). --Kuaichik 22:54, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Hindu Mathmeticians etc.
Hi Deepujoseph. I was looking at the request for deletion of Category:Hindu mathmeticians and was comparing that category to Lists of Jews. I would like you to take a look at Lists of Jews and share your opinion regarding whether such lists are appropriate for Wikipedia. Thank you. Btw, I see you are from Kerela. Brahmagiri is an incredibly beautiful and peaceful spot. --BostonMA 12:47, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kind explanation. You explanation seems to approve of lists of individuals based upon their religion and profession. However, your comment in favor of deleting says that religious categorisation of professions is unwarranted and pernicious. Wouldn't lists be just as pernicious as categories? Also, could you tell me if you believe that Category:Jewish mathematicians should be deleted? I appreciate your communicating with me. --BostonMA 15:45, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Deepujoseph. I don't know if my previous comment was lost in the shuffle. Anyway, I am inclined to vote keep on the Hindu occupation categories, as a matter of fairness. However, I wanted to hear your side further before I took a stand. Please let me know how you would respond to the issues I raised right above in the previous comment. --BostonMA 18:13, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you again for your response. Please forgive that I have decided to vote Keep on the categories in question. yours --BostonMA 11:11, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Category:Hindu mathematicians is in the same mold of Category:Muslim mathematicians, and Category:Jewish mathematicians. Zora merely despises Hindu users. I don't see why you want to ruin our good relationship with advemnturous deletionism. I thought you were a nice user. The only reason I created Muslim actors, was to keep a precedent so that any category with "Hindu" in it would not be subject to wanton deletion.Bakaman Bakatalk 14:42, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Athletes was moved to a list, not mathematicians. I'm going to fight tooth and nail to keep Category:Hindu mathematicians, especially per my work on Achyuta Panikkar and Category:Kerala school. I really could care less about the actor cats. I created Muslim before Hindu because people are more afraid to delete Muslim cats, and therefore I could create hindu with a precedent.Bakaman Bakatalk 15:06, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Zora comments incivil and sick
Zora comments are incivil, almost perverted and sick [4]. She is assigning motives to me using the emotion-gathering terms sheep, goats, Hindutva and Northern Ireland. I request you tell her to stop, since you told me to listen to her and not create these cats. All I'm saying is I'm not listening to as much as a word from the user who called me an "anti-Muslim fantasist" and a "Hindutva kook". I will though at least hear the words of a user who saved me from a sock case and has always helped me out.Bakaman Bakatalk 00:35, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

But knowing how devoted you are to Kerala (apart from Rai, who may be considered a Keralite given the proximity of Mangalore to Kerala), I searched Kerala and Caste as key words on WP search which led me to the article. btw, I added lot of refs and improved that section greatly, as can be seen here. --Gurubrahma 14:11, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
