Deepujoseph: I am having a problem with unregistered users tampering with my efforts to bring the Taichung City page up to Wikipedia Project Cities standards. There are two in particular. Would it be possible to block unregistered users from making further edits for the time being.

Thank you.

Reply - TVM

The format suggested in Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian cities or Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities, is not a mandatory thing. Those templates are created to help the editors in understanding the various topics to be covered. It is not a hard coded rule that only those mentioned in the template should be included in the article. And a WP:FA criteria never says that a city article should be only confined, what the template says. For instance, the Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian cities is not stating any thing about other facets of infrastructure (apart from Transport) like water supply, sewage system or electrical supply system of a city. So if a city article is expanded to include these information also, will that article be rejected the WP:FA status ???? !!!!!
We need not be so stubborn on such issues, as it adds more information in the encyclopedia (and thats what an encyclopedia is for, I believe).
The section strategic importance is much relevent to the article about Thiruvananthapuram. It is the first city in India's South. It lies close to Srilanka, Maldives, and the US military base at Diego Garcia, in Indian Ocean. The Southern Air Command HQ is in this city. The military authorities are planning to upgrade it to a Tri-Service Command Station, where the Army, Navy and AirForce Commands will be operating from this area, because of this strategic location. Thiruvananthapuram city is just one Notical mile away from the East-West Shipping Axis. The International air-route fly above this city.
These points are stated in the section "Strategic Importance". The relevant citations are also given. Now, how can we say that the section is just a mere opinion, not a reliable information??
  • I will try to find reference for International school matter, or else, we can reframe that sentence.
  • Unwikification of Kv - i'll do that.
  • The sentence " Potential future growth areas include... " should be removed. It really looks un-encyclopediac.
  • Will do that.

I am trying my best to incorporate the FA comments, in midst of my tight schedule at office. Cheers, -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me...) :-) 00:42, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Deepu, Your suggestions are done. Please have a look in to the article now. -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me...) :-) 01:30, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Thirichchu vanne! (For a Little While, Anyway)

Ayyayyo, Deepu, valare sorry. I'll make sure to contribute every now and then, whenever I have time. I didn't seem to be getting any messages for a long time.

On the positive side, this semester, all of my courses are very, very easy for me (two have to do with linguistics and the other two are...more languages!). So I won't have to focus on my studies too much, and I can certainly afford to drop in. I'm not sure how that will work out later on.

Thanks for encouraging my research nevertheless! I have submitted a paper to the TLSX conference here in Austin, and they've accepted my paper. The paper describes a search engine improvement that is available on my second website, http://www.translitsearch.com/. (I need to, and will, improve that website substantially in terms of content. But at least the search engine works as it should!).

So, let's see. Right now I have some time. What shall I edit first? Something here, or something on the Spanish Wikipedia? Hmmm...--Kuaichik 02:34, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

My goodness. Somebody actually looked at the Ankur page while I was gone! I responded to his comment on the talk page just now. For many days before I put up the message on my user page, I kept checking my mail here. I never had any, so I put up that message and never checked my mail again until today.

Again, many apologies. Your sadness breaks my karaL!! :( --Kuaichik 02:52, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you for your wishes on my birthday, Deepu! And best of luck on your RFA :) --May the Force be with you! Shreshth91 06:55, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Happy Diwali!!!
Known as the "Festival of Lights" in India, Diwali symbolises the victory of good over evil. It represents celebration of hope and life, and is an occasion to strengthen relationships. This year, it is celebrated on November 23, 2024. I take this as an occasion to wish you the best in the days to come. May this Diwali invigorate you, bringing you more happiness and content. Happy Diwali!!!

Privacy and mutual trust violation

A serious message - PLEASE READ

Wikipedia operates on the principle that every contributor has a right if they wish to remain completely anonymous. Wikipedia policy on that issue is strictly enforced. Posting private information about a user, specifically their (alleged) name and/or personal details, is strictly prohibited as harassment, and users who do that are often immediately blocked from editing Wikipedia.

Such posting can cause offence or embarrassment to the victim of the posting, not least because it means that their name, and any personal criticism or allegations made against them can then appear on web searches. If you have posted such information, please remove it immediately. Please then follow the link to this page and inform people there that the information was posted (but crucially, do not repost it on that page). An admin or developer can then remove the information from the archives of Wikipedia.

If you do not ensure that personal information you posted is removed from this site you may be blocked from editing this site. REMEMBER: Wikipedia's privacy policy is there to protect the privacy of every user, including you.

Kundan After Sundown 15:48, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

You may see to it that the personal information you inserted is removed from archive as well. And your calling me by a user name which isn't mine any longer and inserting an indecent edit summary (quickly after a most inappropriate act on your part) is perversity par excellence. Kundan After Sundown 16:07, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Fine. I think that the rollback [1] was in order. Ok. However, I think this infatuation with rules and regulations are disruptive to the spirit of wiki and the real purpose behind the rules and regulations, and I am afraid that his position may be compromised very soon as the community do not tolerate nonsence in the long run. I would suggest him to attend another meetup of wikipedians to discuss the issues. He should also bring his other wiki-friends. For his benefit, I may try to organize a meeting of some wikipedians at his convenience at a place of his choice. --Bhadani 16:27, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps when wikipedia will start asking for identification though kept confidential by the wikimedia foundation, such disruption shall stop. And, this will come sooner than later. --Bhadani 16:31, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for intervening, Bhadani. Anyhow, I've deleted the revisions per Kundan's request. The mistake was on my part to consider it incourteous to call him by his obscene username. But if that is how he wants it, fine with me.--thunderboltz(Deepu) 16:48, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Ayyavazhi

Hai Friend,

Ayyavazhi lack only the official recognition as a seperate religion. But the followers considere them selves as a seperate religion. They have 8000 worship centers through out India. The religious festival of Ayyavazhi, Ayya Vaikunda Avataram is celebrated with a public holiday for three districts in Tamil Nadu.

More over Ayyavazhi has seperate theology, mythology, rituals, holy places, holy books, and worship centres. Also Ayyavazhi's fast spread was noted in hundreds of LMS reports. They (whose reports were considered valid historical source of the 19th century Travancore) too recognise Ayyavazhi as a seperate religion.

All these were cited with University research papers either in Ayyavazhi article or in Religion in India article. Also all the citations (books) mentioned in Religion in India article related to Ayyavazhi were University publications which were considered valid historical and factual sources. So please don't remove Ayyavazhi.

Thank you - Paul 18:42, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
