Thanks for your help
[edit]Thanks for those links about referencing. I'm also glad there's a place for discussion about changes that can be made to better Wikipedia's Mixed Martial Arts section. Of course, there are always fighters and events to be added...just off the top of my head, I've been thinking about dedicating an article to Battlecade's Extreme Fighting. A lot of the fighters that developed into stars in MMA were at some point a part of that organization. Well here's to MMA and improving Wikipedia as much as possible in that regard. Thnanks again... [edit]Hi, what can be done about this article, 3 controversial fights, one of them should have been a draw, any idea what happened in all 3?

RE:Nick Diaz
[edit]Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I've added that page to my watchlist. I think I reverted all of the vandalism, but there was stuff in there like changing his high school that I wasn't sure if it was vandalism or not, and will take some more research to be sure. In the future, there are several things you can do.
The first thing I recommend is for you to look in the edit history (click the "history" tab at the top of any page) and determine who added the vandalism, and for you to warn them about not adding vandalism. Each version will also show you what text has been changed in order for you to identify what was vandalized or not. If you click on a timestamp for an unvandalized version, and then click the "edit this page" tab and click save, you are essentially undoing the vandalism that was caused, which is a very useful tool. You can find the warning templates at Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. Warning users is helpful because they will often stop. If they don't stop, warning levels escalate up to 4 levels, and if they continue vandalizing after their fourth warning then you should report them on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism and an administrator will block them for a while. Re:UFC 71
[edit]The first thing you should do is read WP:PROD. This is a way to propose articles for deletion without having to actually go through a debate, the catch is that anyone can remove the tag for any reason they want in the 5 days the tag has to be left on before deletion. You can do this by adding "{{subst:prod|reason why page should be deleted}} to the top of the page. If you suspect the deletion is controversial and that someone will remove the tag within the 5 day period, you should probably skip this step and go directly to WP:AFD. You can submit an article for deletion by adding "{{subst:afd}}" to the top of the article. There is a link to the exact instructions at the bottom of the AfD box when you add it to the article. There will then be a red link saying "this page" on the message at the top, which you should click on to create the page, and read the instructions to know what you are supposed to fill the page with. The last step is to add the link to the afd to today's afd page, which the instructions should also tell you how to do. It is somewhat hard to get the hang of the first time but if you look at other afds you should be able to copy that format and figure it out. If you still need help contact me again on my talk page and I'll do it. But I would recommend trying to prod the article first. VegaDark 05:32, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Nice
[edit]Nice work removing recent POV at Tim Sylvia. It's a common problem among the MMA articles, especially after fights. Keep it up. Sancho (Review me) 20:23, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Royce Gracie
[edit]No problem. It is confusing to classify BJJ by nationality. The suggestion of "Nationality Brazilian-Jiu-Jitsu practitioners" was made, and that's what I used. If you have a better idea, you can change the categories in Category:Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners by nationality. --Scott Alter 05:01, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Kimbo Slice
[edit]Those "reliable" sources are the same sources that post up rumors and such. I can make an MMA website and say the fight was an exhibition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MMAfan2007 (talk • contribs)
- Thanks for the heads-up, I'll take a look at it. If you feel that he should be warned for vandalism though, I'd advise against using a generic template as it might seem inflammatory. east.718 23:14, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
UFC 73
[edit]Hey. Thanks for the correction on the Eddie Bravo thing. I meant he was there to give his opinion of the scoring of the fight, but i realize that I didn't convey that with the wording I chose. I'm trying to decide if I should go back and clarify what I meant, or just leave it how you fixed it. I'm just not sure if people will realize what Eddie Bravo had to do with the fight if it's not explained. On the other hand, I think a lot of people viewing the page will be familiar with what Eddie Bravo usually does with his presence, so maybe I should just let it go. Anyway, thanks again for the attention to detail. Dan 4:44PM, July 8 2007 (EST)
- UPDATE* I went back and fixed my wording, check it out and see if you think it's clearer. I think that says it better, but I could always be wrong again. LoL
MMA Weekly
[edit]Hi Thesaddestday, thanks for the note. I think WP:CITE means Wikipedia editors' subjective statements are not permitted, but cited statements are allowed even if the source is subjective. If you have any sources that argue Rua is not one of the top light heavyweights we can add those to ensure equal treatment of different views, but I would be very surprised to see a source arguing that.
Informative enough doesn't seem like a good reason to exclude information. Normally if an article has too much information sections will be split off per WP:SS. --Ty580 02:26, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Re: CFCC
[edit]I don't have much too much of an opinion on them, those articles are in the gray area where I can't just tag them for deletion outright but also don't contain much useful information and probably never will. Try using article talk, and then sending them to AfD with the intention to merge if they don't improve. east.718 07:56, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Re: Kimbo record
[edit]No problem with the change. Thanks for letting me know. Udar55 22:56, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Merging/Deleting
[edit]Hi, sorry for getting back to you so late. I think having individual pages for each CFFC event is too much. One alternative I would suggest for small promotions is to have all events covered on one page, the way a list of episodes work for a television series. However, since the CFFC is still so insignificant, I think merging main events into the main promotion page is fine as well. Sorry, I don't really have a preferred option, I suppose it would depend on how significant the CFFC becomes in the future. hateless 21:17, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I wouldn't worry about the warning template above, there is no consequence for people who receive just one vandalism warnings, there's not even a record of such warnings other than a person's talk page. Even when they are legitimate, one warning won't cause any action. There should be several editors around who can vouch that the warning above was not legitimate, and you can remove the template if you like. As for MMAfan2007, If he keeps acting like this, then it could potentially go to WP:RFC. An admin will probably give you better advice on what to do if he persists, i'm not really familiar with the intricacies of the discipline process. hateless 02:43, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Weight classes' names
[edit]I noticed you've been correcting a lot of weight classes' names (at least on a couple articles). Have you thought about trying out AWB? It would greatly reduce your workload. east.718 at 15:49, August 10, 2007
fedor
[edit]Why did you remove the redirect? fedor and fyodor are different spelling. Fedor should be redirected towards it's respected article which is Fedor Emelianeko. Kimbo is redirected to Kimbo Slice and Kimbo is a word in the English language.
MMAfan2007 19:51, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, but those are all spelled Fyodor not f-e-d-o-r. Also, why must you revert the edit instead of asking me what my intentions were? What happened to editing in good faith or whatever? You can't remove an edit just because you disagree with it, that isn't what wikipedia is about. You should take this up with the admins or wherever we are supposed to, and discuss it. MMAfan2007 15:30, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
When did I give vandalism warnings for good faith edits? The Kimbo incident? That happened long ago. I've done a lot more dealing with vandals and/or bias users. just check my contribs and you'll see. MMAfan2007 16:12, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
UFC 77 Edits
[edit]Thank you for explaining. I do not traditionally make updates to my posts unless the situation changes significantly but I can edit them to reflect updates I have received on the situation to the fights can be added back to the UFC 77 page. For future reference the UFC 77 page includes rumored and confirmed bouts but I will make sure to note confirmed fights so it can be used as a source for future edits. Thanks again! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kriskarkoski (talk • contribs) 02:16, August 21, 2007 (UTC).
Team Template for Fight Teams
[edit]I see what you mean. When I was looking at other sport's team pages it seemed that they were in that section but they were actually below it. But those pages don't have to take into consideration the list of references which can grow quite long, especially when we get around to completing the articles and citing sources as Wiki requires, so it needs to at least stay above those imo. Pleas advise. I'll work on this but please consider this. Unak78 03:49, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- They do look awful, but they looked sloppy and incomplete before, and they're far from finished. Most of them are little more than stubs which is why the templates are currently overlapping. The articles have yet to be completed. I will work on them as fast as I can and I am currently looking for more sources. Unreferenced material generates tags which I would like to see removed in addition to making these team pages more informative much like the ones in other sports. It's a step by step process that I'm going through but I'm far from through. Some teams are harder to find sources on than others and some don't even have english sites and are difficult to understand even with translators so I would ask any Japanese speaking fans to help out to flesh some of these articles out. After I get the templates that I want in place then I can concentrate on the articles themselves and the overall page makeup. The latest template I may eventually be remodeled but it was an immediate necessity to allow easy navigation between the fight teams. It is a work in progress but I understand your concern. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Unak78 (talk • contribs).
Pitfight team Article
[edit]I would like to request that all involved in the deletion discussion please read the article in question now that it is completed. I read that one of the editors to visit the site did not think that it was relevant enough for inclusion on Wikipedia and I don't think that this is the case especially to those with a workable knowledge of MMA, however without support my work will be lost. I devote alot of personal time to working on this project because I love and practice MMA, but I would like to at least have a fair shot of having my work kept on this site. Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Unak78 (talk • contribs).
- Would appreciate your input on the Pitfight Team cleanup discussion on the Talk Page. Your advice would be useful and assist me on any further work that I may do on the project.

Fedor
[edit]You may have noticed MMAfan2007's constant attempts to redirect the page Fedor to Fedor Emelianenko instead of the disambig page for Fyodor. In response to the current revert war he's engaged in, I have submitted a request for editor comments on the matter to hopefully end it. Please contribute if you have the time. Thank you! It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
